Abstract

Ethanol purification has become of great interest recently because ethanol can be used as renewable energy, solvent in many industries, and for medicinal purposes. The separation of ethanol from water is challenging because the azeotropic point has appeared in this binary mixture. Extractive distillation technology is one of the most interesting methods to separate ethanol from water due to the competitiveness of its energy consumption and capital investment costs. Ionic liquids such as 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide [BMIM] [Br], categorized as a green solvent, produce a significant salting-out effect in the ethanol-water system. This makes ionic liquid a promising solvent in ethanol-water separation. This study simulated the extractive distillation of an ethanol-water system with 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide as a solvent. The simulation and sensitivity analysis were performed on the Aspen Plus Process Simulator to obtain the optimum configuration. The NRTL thermodynamic model was used in this study. The effects of the number of stages (NS), binary feed stage (BFS), entrainer feed stage (EFS), and reflux ratio (RR) on the ethanol concentration with minimum energy requirements were studied. The most optimal configurations to produce a high ethanol concentration with less energy are NS 28, BFS 22, EFS 4, and RR 1.5.

Abstract

Recycling lithium batteries (LIB) has emerged as an attractive solution in the global pursuit of environmentally friendly practices. The aim of achieving zero–waste hydrometallurgical technology is within reach. This research focuses on utilizing the low-pressure nanofiltration process to address this challenge by separating lithium ions from other ions and achieving a desirable permeate flux. The NCA battery leachate concentrate was obtained through a hydrometallurgical process involving sulfuric acid–peroxide. To ensure the prevention of potential nanofiltration membrane (TS80) fouling, the concentrate is initially filtered using an ultrafiltration membrane (UH004) to remove any particles. The research investigates the impact of pressure (4, 6, and 7 bar), solution concentration (concentrate, 10x, and 50x dilution), and the concentration of the complexing agent (EDTA) on the desired separation performance. The investigation reveals that pressure variations exhibit consistent rejection rates, remaining stable above 80%. A similar trend is observed with the addition of EDTA, which consistently yields rejection rates above 80%. However, when examining different feed concentrations, the rejection of lithium falls below 80% for leachate concentrates. In summary, satisfactory results are obtained by employing nanofiltration with a TS80 membrane at a pressure of 7 bar, a dilution factor of 10x, and using a 0.02M EDTA complexing agent. Meanwhile, it was found that the separation factors (Li⁺/Ni²⁺ = ~8.6, Li⁺/ Co²⁺ = ~7.3, Li⁺/Al³⁺ = ~4.9) and permeate flux ±46.58 L m⁻² h⁻¹. The findings demonstrate good selectivity along with relatively high flux.

Abstract

SMKN 5 Lhokseumawe merupakan salah satu sekolah menengah kejuruan negeri yang berada di kota Lhokseumawe. Salah satu permasalahan yang terjadi di SMKN 5 berupa minimnya rasa respect atau saling menghormati dan menghargai antar sesama guru. Mayoritas guru menampilkan perilaku tidak mendengarkan ketika teman berbicara, mengungkapkan pendapat, menyepelekan pendapat sesama guru hingga tidak bersedia dinasihati walau perilaku serta perkataannya sudah tidak mencerminkan perilaku respect. Keseluruhan hal ini berdampak pada hasil kerja yang tidak maksimal dan optimal sehingga tercipta budaya kerja yang tidak kooperatif. Hal ini menjadi alasan utama untuk pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dengan mengangkat tema psikoedukasi respect pada guru di SMKN 5 Lhokseumawe. Karakter respect dimulai dari menghargai diri sendiri yang kemudian diikuti dengan menghargai orang lain. Tujuan dari pengabdian yaitu membantu guru memahami terkait respect serta pentingnya karakter respect untuk menciptakan budaya kerja kooperatif. Metode pelaksanaan yang dilakukan ialah ceramah, tanya jawab, focus group discussion serta role play berupa games. Hasil dari pelaksanaan pengabdian ialah ada perbedaan tingkat pengetahuan guru terkait respect (menghargai diri sendiri dan orang lain) dari sebelum pelaksanaan psikoedukasi dengan setelah diadakan pelaksanaan psikoedukasi. Selain itu, terdapat pula hasil bahwa kegiatan psikoedukasi memberi perubahan sebesar 40% bagi guru setelah mengikuti psikoedukasi respect.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk dapat melihat gambaran self determination siswa dalam perencanaan karir. Untuk memperoleh gambaran determinasi diri siswa peneliti melakukan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah univariat. Dari analisis yang dilakukan diperoleh hasil bahwa siswa SMK Negeri 2 Lhokseumawe memiliki determinasi diri pada kategori rendah sebanyak 51 siswa (54,8%). Kemudian berdasarkan aspek determinasi diri terlihat aspek kompetensi (52,2%) dan kemandirian (55,1%) masuk dalam kategori rendah. Sedangkan keterhubungan memperoleh kategori yang tinggi (61,9%). Selanjutnya hasil berdasarkan jenis kelamin, siswa SMK N 2 Lhokseumawe baik perempuan maupun laki-laki memiliki determinasi diri pada kategori rendah yaitu dengan persentase 50,7%.Berdasarkan jurusan siswa dengan jurusan tata busana memiliki determinasi diri tinggi (52%) sedangkan paling rendah pada jurusan tata boga sebesar 75%.

Abstract

This study aims to develop manipulative media about cube and block nets for grade V elementary school students. This research uses research and development methods, namely R&D (Research and Development), ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). This study discusses the development of manipulative media, which is developed from manipulative media available in schools and manipulative media from previous studies. This development was validated by 2 expert validators, namely material experts and media experts. The development is adjusted to the latest curriculum, namely the independent curriculum and is also developed based on student characteristics. This is very important to do, because of the characteristics of grade V students, grade V students whose cognitive development is still at a concrete operational stage. Therefore they need concrete objects to understand something. Media quality is also very important to note, by paying attention to the quality of media in development, making media can be used repeatedly and not easily damaged. Then the display of media must also be considered in order to arouse students' enthusiasm. By developing this manipulative media, it can help students to understand the material, students' enthusiasm for learning increases, and the media becomes durable and can be used repeatedly. This development media can also help educators to explain learning material easily. Learning objectives are also achieved because this development media is also adjusted to the applicable curriculum.

Abstract

In the process, data mining will extract valuable information by analyzing the existence of specific patterns or relationships from extensive data. One of the concerns of the new disease outbreak caused by the coronavirus (2019-nCoV) or commonly referred to as Covid-19, was officially designated as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WFO) on March 11, 2020. To break the transmission of Covid-19, the government carried out vaccinations for the Indonesian population. In the first period, the vaccination target will be for health workers with a total of 1.3 million people, public officers with 17.4 million people, and 21.5 million people. 19. The Data processed is only text data from Twitter application reviews that use Indonesian. Using the polarity of the Sentiment class Textblob, the sentiment class is positive, negative, and neutral. The data mining used is SVM, Naive Bayes, and Logistic Regression. As for this research in the form of knowledge of sentiment in the community towards vaccination activities, the results of this study get 43% positive sentiment, 40.8% negative, and 16.2% negative by testing the classification algorithm, Logistic Regression accuracy of 87%, SVM 86, 4%, and Naive Bayes, 40% of these results, can be seen that the Indonesian people have a positive sentiment towards the covid-19 vaccine.

Abstract

Edible coating is a food preservation technique by coating using antimicrobial substances which can inhibit the growth of bacteria. This research aims to develop an edible coating from shrimp shell waste with liquid smoke additives as antibacterial packaging for processing beef sausages. Chitosan is made in three stages, namely demineralization, deproteination and deacetylation. Beef sausages coated with edible coating were tested using organoleptic and antibacterial tests. The results of this research showed that the highest degree of deacetylation of chitosan was found in the variable concentration of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) 55% with a degree of deacetylation value of 93.59%. The water and protein content in beef sausages coated with edible coating with liquid smoke showed values of 52.45% and 12.65% on the 7th day. This is in accordance with the Indonesian National Standards (SNI). Coating beef sausages using edible coating from 2% chitosan with 8% liquid smoke solvent has antimicrobial properties because in the antibacterial test a clear zone appeared on the beef sausages coated with edible coating.

Abstract

Salah satu permasalahan yang muncul di lapangan pembangkit listrik panas bumi (PLTP) adalah terjadinya silica scaling dalam sistem pemipaaan akibat konsentrasi padatan terlarut yang tinggi pada air geotermal (geothermal brine). Silica scalling dapat menyebabkan penurunan efisiensi pembangkitan energi listrik dari panas bumi. Pada penelitian ini lumpur silika yang dihasilkan dari lapangan pembangkit listrik panas bumi akan dimanfaatkan sebagai raw material sintesis silica gel. Silica gel disintesis menggunakan metode sol-gel dengan variasi rasio natrium silikat dan air (1:3 ; 1:4 ; dan 1:5) dan konsentrasi asam klorida ( 0,5 M ; 1 M; dan 2 M). Karakteristik silica gel dilihat menggunakan analisis Forier Transform Infra Red (FTIR). Secara umum, pita serapan yang muncul pada spektra sample silica gel menunjukkan bahwa gugus fungsional yang terdapat pada silica gel adalah gugus silanol (Si-OH) dan gugus siloksan (Si-O-Si). Panjang gelombang 1055,86 cm-1­ menunjukkan gugus Si-O, yang mengindikasikan adanya vibrasi SiO4 dan polimerisasi Si-O-Si saat pembentukan silica gel. Selain itu, kapasitas penjerapan air oleh silika gel menunjukkan bahwa sampel dengan kode A7 memiliki kapasitas penjerapan air terbesar, yaitu mencapai 0,9331 gr air/ gram silica gel. Analisis Response Surface Methodology (RSM) mengindikasikan bahwa konsentrasi asam memberikan pengaruh singnifikan terhadap pembentukan silica gel dibandingkan dengan variasi pengenceran natrium silikat.

Abstract

Penggunaaan batubara sebagai sumber energi di negara berkembang seperti Indonesia masih menjadi pilihan utama. Hasil samping pembakaran batubara di Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap (PLTU) berupa fly ash dan bottom ash (FABA) akan terus meningkat seriring konsumsi bataubara sebagai energi meningkat. Industri semen dapat mengahsilkan 2,9 miliar ton CO2 ke atmosfer hal ini akan berdampak langsung terhadap kenaikan temperatur bumi dan pemansan global. Subtitusi material semen dengan fly ash menjadi sebuah pilihan yang ramah lingkungan dalam meminimalisir gas CO2. Pembuatan beton dimulai dengan mencampurkan fly ash dan semen pada berbagai rasio (1:1; 1:3 ; 1:4) dengan air. Air dituang secara bertahap sedikit demi sedikit sambil diaduk hingga membentuk pasta. Pasta beton yang telah terbentuk dicetak pada cetakan kubus ukuran 5x5x5 cm3. Cetakan pasta HVFA didiamkan selama 1 hari, kemudian dikeringkan (curing) pada temperatur yang divariasikan (30, 40 dan 60°C). Hasil Analisa oksida komponen kimia menunjukan bahwa fly ash dari PLTU Cirebon tergolong kategori fly ash kelas C dengan kadar CaO lebih dari 10% dan SiO2 kurang dari 46% dan Kekuatan beton (compressive strength) HVFA yang  paling besar yang dapat dihasilkan beton HVFA adalah pada rasio komposisi semen dan fly ash 1:3 dengan temperatur pengeringan 40°C. material fly ash mampu menggantikan semen sebesar 75% dari kebutuhan beton HVFA dengan kekuatan beton mencapai 12,557 MPa pada kondisi pengeringan 40°C. Hasil optimasi menunjukan variable yang paling berpengaruh terhadap kuat tekan beton yang dihasilkan adalah temperatur pengeringan.

Abstract

Minerals containing TiO2 are common in Indonesia, such as ilmenite in iron sand deposits scattered along the country's coasts. Ilmenite is an important source of titanium. One method for making TiO2 from ilmenite is by solubilizing both the Fe and Ti elements in HCl and then immediately hydrolyze the Ti. The leaching of low-grade ilmenite (ground to 0.177-0.149 mm) is studied kinetically by HCl in a stirred reactor. The research was conducted using the caustic fusion method followed by HCl leaching. The leaching reaction kinetics at the optimum conditions are analyzed using response surface methodology (RSM) with a second-order polynomial equation model and SSE with the shrinking core model (SCM). The results showed that HCl concentration and leaching time were directly proportional to the leached titanium concentration. In contrast, the leaching temperature was inversely proportional. The optimum operating conditions were obtained at a temperature of 30 °C, 9 M HCl, and 120 min of leaching time. The shrinking core model is a better representation of the kinetics than RSM with a second-order polynomial equation model. Based on SCM, the rate of the leaching reaction of titanium from low-grade ilmenite is controlled by diffusion through the ash layer.
