Abstract

Introduction: Growth and development is a dynamic process that is influenced by many factors, this is why children of the same age do not have the same growth rate, therefore growth can not  be evaluated only by chronological age, but also by maturation skeletal and dental. Previous research has shown a strong relationship between mandibular length and Cervical Vertebral Maturation (CVM). The aim of the present study was to determine the correlation between mandibular length and mandibular third molar maturation using panoramic radiograph. Methods: This research is an observational analytic cross sectional study. Total 412 panoramic radiographs of 207 male and 205 female aged 9-25 years were evaluated. The mandibular length measured from the point of condylion (Co) to menton (Me). M3 maturation of the mandible was evaluated by Demirjian methods. Results: Spearman non-parametric correlation was used for analysis. A strong correlation was found between mandibular length and third molar development (in males: r=0.705 on the right side and are=0.729 on the left side; in females: are=0.755 on the right side and are=0.707 on the left side) Conclusion: There is a strong correlation between mandibular length and mandibular third molar maturation in both male and female.

Abstract

Introduction: Epidemiological studies show a significant increase in mandibular fractures in the past few decades. Various radiographic projections are indicated for the diagnosis of mandibular fractures. This study was aimed to gather information on the type of radiographic examination commonly prescribed in the diagnosis of mandibular fracture among the oral maxillofacial surgeons and factors influencing the choice of radiographic prescription. Methods: A descriptive study with survey method was conducted on 30 respondents in the Oral Surgery Departments of three hospitals in Bandung, by purposive sampling technique. The data collected using the self-structured questionnaire method and assessed according to frequency distribution. Results: Highest choice of radiographic prescription in the survey for each location of fractures in the mandible was panoramic (83.3 to 100%), and the least is CBCT (10 to 16.7%). The most factors influencing the choice of prescription were availability (53.3 to 56.7%), image accuracy (50 to 60%) and cost (46.7 to 56.7%) of the radiographic examination. Conclusion: Most of the dentists in this study prescribe panoramic radiographs in mandibular fracture assessment based on availability, image accuracy, and cost of the radiographic examination.

Abstract

Nikah sirri is a form of marriage that is legally valid under Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) but is not officially recorded by state institutions. This practice remains prevalent in Indonesian society due to various factors, including economic limitations, social pressures, and hidden polygamy. This study aims to analyze nikah sirri from the perspective of fiqh munakahat and to examine its implications in a contemporary social context. The research applies a library research method using a descriptive-analytical approach through the examination of classical and contemporary Islamic legal texts, along with sociological and legal literature. The findings indicate that while nikah sirri is religiously valid, the lack of legal documentation creates significant vulnerabilities for women and children. The study also reveals that such unregistered marriages often marginalize justice within family structures and contribute to legal uncertainty in modern governance systems. Therefore, a contextual reinterpretation of fiqh that prioritizes maqashid al-shari’ah is necessary for reforming Islamic family law. The main contribution of this research lies in offering an integrative approach that combines Islamic jurisprudence and socio-legal perspectives to develop more comprehensive and applicable solutions to the phenomenon of nikah sirri in Indonesia.

Abstract

Introduction: The use of panoramic x-ray radiographs with analogue film negatives is still widely used. Contrast differences in the radiograph are determined by the level of light transmitted from the viewer to the film negative and visual perception of the radiologist, which can cause differences and errors of interpretation. This study was aimed to compare the quality of scanners produced by the transmission and reflection modes objectively with direct digital imaging standard. Methods: This study used a descriptive comparative design with purposive sampling method. Radiographic analysis was conducted towards 30 analogue radiographs of Radiology laboratory of Universitas Padjadjaran Dental Hospital. Digitisation was performed using a scanner with setting modes (reflection and transmission, 8-bit intensity resolution and spatial resolution of 800 dpi). Digitising the negative radiographs of analogue films into digital radiographs will get a range of percentage pixels. Histogram of radiographs with a percentage of pixels in the grey level range 0 - 64 exceeds 50%, including "under-exposed", in the grey level range 192 - 255 exceeding 50%, including "over-exposed". The evaluation was carried out to observe the radiograph exposure homogeneity by dividing the radiograph into 4 parts. Each part was calculated as the mean pixel value; then the standard deviation was searched for the four mean values (STDMI - standard deviation mean intensity) determined the homogeneity. Results: Digitising type of radiograph reflection was included under-exposed because the percentage of pixels in the grey level range 0 - 64 was 86.94%. STDMI consecutive reflection = 8.03, transmission = 18.05, direct digital imaging = 20.86. Conclusion: Digitisation with scanner transmission mode is the best result objectively because it approaches the quality value of direct digital imaging standard. Keywords: Objective quality, homogeneity, reflection, transmission

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that translators often face various difficulties in the process of translating from Mandarin to Indonesian and vice versa. The complexity of language and differing cultural contexts are the main factors affecting the accuracy and success of translation. The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the perceptions of translators in Aceh regarding the difficulties they face in translating Mandarin-language texts. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through interviews with several active translators residing and working in the Aceh region. The results of the study show that translators face various difficulties classified into two categories: intralingual and extralingual factors. Intralingual factors include difficulties in translating idioms and typical expressions, the use of slang, and the translator's limited knowledge of various topics or specific fields. Meanwhile, extralingual factors include illegible handwriting and the use of non-standard dialects by native Mandarin speakers, which often complicate the interpretation process. These findings provide a deeper insight into the contextual and cultural difficulties in Mandarin translation practice. Moreover, the results of this study are expected to serve as an important reference in the development of relevant translation training and curriculum in linguistically diverse regions such as Aceh, in order to enhance the competence and professionalism of translators.

Abstract

Forests are ecosystems that provide various important services for humanity, especially in mitigating climate change. Forests in Indonesia, as carbon absorbers and stores, have large market potential, where the carbon market provides opportunities to fund forestry sector projects. However, the forestry sector in Indonesia has not been able to take maximum advantage of the carbon market. This study aims to describe the condition and potential of the forestry sector carbon market, as well as estimate the carbon trading value of the forestry sector for 34 provinces in Indonesia in 2022. The method used is K-Medoids and calculating the carbon trading value. The study results show that areas on Papua Island and Kalimantan Island are the main potential contributors to carbon trading in Indonesia. These two islands have large areas of primary forest that are still maintained. This shows that the forest area in Papua Province is a strategic asset for Indonesia in its efforts to mitigate climate change through carbon trading.

Abstract

Utilizing vegetables as animal feed obtained from the yard is a practical and economical solution to meet the nutritional needs of livestock. Planting various types of vegetables such as kale, spinach, and cassava in the yard not only provides a source of fresh food for the family, but can also be processed into quality animal feed. The process of processing vegetables is done by blending until smooth and mixing with a little water. To increase the nutritional content, this mixture can be added with fine bran or flour, then stirred until evenly distributed. This processed feed is easily digested by livestock, thus helping to optimize nutrient absorption. Utilizing the yard to grow animal feed vegetables also supports sustainable agricultural practices and reduces dependence on commercial feed that may contain chemicals.
