Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the influence of work life balance and work environment on employee performance at PDAM Tirta Bukae, North Luwu. Methodology: This study employed a quantitative approach, with a population of 70 employees and a saturated sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire focusing on aspects of work-life balance, work environment, and employee performance. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression, validity tests, reliability tests, and hypothesis testing. Results and Findings: The results of the study indicate that both work-life balance and the work environment have a significant positive effect on employee performance. Work-life balance, which involves employees' ability to manage work responsibilities and personal life, has been shown to increase productivity and job satisfaction. A conducive work environment, including adequate facilities, effective communication, and supportive policies, also plays a significant role in improving employee performance. This study also confirmed that work-life balance and the work environment simultaneously influence employee performance by 78.7%. Novelty and Originality: This research brings novelty by shifting the focus from the private sector to the public service sector, namely PDAM Tirta Bukae Luwu Utara, which has different organizational characteristics, work culture, and managerial structure from private companies. Conclusion: This study concludes that Work Life Balance and work environment have a significant effect on the performance of PDAM Tirta Bukae North Luwu employees. A good Work Life Balance improves employee performance, as does a conducive work environment. Simultaneously, both variables play an important role in improving employee performance.Type of Paper: Empirical research article.

Abstract

Structural batteries are a crucial solution in dealing with issues related to vehicle electrification to achieve energy sustainability in the future. However, the development of structural battery technology for electric-powered ships is still very limited. In particular, there are limitations in evaluating the mechanical performance of carbon fiber/polyester-PEG based composite materials for structural battery applications in electrically powered vessels. The main focus of this research is to fabricate carbon fiber/polyester-PEG to further observe the performance of its mechanical properties and structure when interacting with sea water. The value of the addition of polyethylene glycol (PEG) to the fabrication carried out was varied by 0%, 10%, and 25%. The results show that addition of 10% PEG produces a composite with the highest tensile strength, increasing the toughness of the polyester material. However, all samples experienced a decrease in tensile strength after immersion due to decreased bond performance between the fibers and seawater. The addition of 25% PEG resulted in a significant decrease in mechanical properties because high levels of PEG content made the sample easily brittle and destroyed when interacting with seawater. This research can provide initial studies on the development of carbon fiber/polyester-PEG composite materials that can be used as structural battery building materials for future electric boat applications.

Abstract

This study examines the role of a school-based learning community in strengthening teachers’ competencies in educational technology integration in a public lower secondary school located in an urban, resource-constrained educational setting. The school is characterized by high teacher participation in collaborative professional development initiatives aimed at supporting digital transformation. A mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design was employed to obtain a comprehensive understanding of how collaborative structures contribute to teacher competency development. Quantitative data were collected through a survey administered to 21 active teacher members of the learning community. Qualitative data were gathered through in-depth interviews and classroom observations and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that technology integration remains influenced by contextual constraints, including limited digital literacy, infrastructure limitations, workload pressures, and policy support challenges. The learning community operates as a Professional Learning Community (PLC), facilitating collaborative inquiry, reflective dialogue, peer support, and structured professional learning activities. Participation in the community appears to support the development of teachers’ competencies within the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, particularly in integrating technology with pedagogy and subject content.

Abstract
