Abstract

This study examines the use of comic strips in improving students' reading comprehension in various educational contexts. The results of the analysis show that the use of comic strips is effective in improving reading comprehension scores, as well as encouraging students' interest, active participation, enthusiasm, and excitement in learning. For example, at SMA MUHAMMADIYAH 7 Serbelawan, the use of comic strips significantly increased the average reading comprehension score compared to the control class. At SMPN 13 Palu, the integration of comic strips in reading learning showed a marked increase in scores, supported by statistical analysis that supported the results. Recommendations were given to integrate comic strips in English teaching practice to improve the effectiveness of reading learning. In addition, it is hoped that the use of this comic strip can have a positive impact on improving students' reading comprehension, where some students still experience difficulties in understanding a text.Overall, this study confirms that comic strips are an effective learning medium for improving students' reading comprehension and enriching their learning experience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze gender equality in child custody rights (?a??nah) through Fazlur Rahman’s double movement hermeneutic framework. The research focuses on the relevance of Qur’anic and Prophetic texts regulating parental responsibilities, particularly QS Al-Baqarah: 233, QS At-Tahrim: 6, and several hadiths addressing custody arrangements. This study employs a qualitative library research design with a historical–contextual analytical approach. Through Rahman's hermeneutics, the research re-evaluates classical Islamic legal formulations that often prioritize mothers in custody decisions without considering contemporary social transformations. The findings reveal that sociocultural contexts and patriarchal structures of early Muslim societies significantly influenced classical custody rulings. Therefore, modern custody decisions should emphasize child welfare, parental capability, psychological stability, and shared responsibility rather than gender-based assumptions. The study concludes that Islam fundamentally offers equal opportunities for both parents to assume childcare responsibilities. Accordingly, custody arrangements must prioritize the child's best interests and align with the moral principles of justice, compassion, and cooperation embedded in Islamic teachings. This hermeneutic reinterpretation highlights the necessity of contextual legal reasoning to ensure gender-balanced and child-centered custody practices.

Abstract

Background: The implementation of deep learning-based instruction not only offers a more adaptive and personalized approach to student needs, but also requires teacher readiness and increased competency to implement it effectively in the classroom. Therefore, the goal of this community service activity is to improve the professional competence of junior high school teachers in Mempawah. so that they are able to design and implement learning processes that are more meaningful, creative, and oriented towards developing students' high-level thinking skills. Contribution: This training provides a real contribution in improving teachers' professional competence while helping teachers understand the concepts, implementation strategies, and evaluation techniques of deep learning- based learning, so that they can be applied in teaching and learning activities. Method: This community service activity was implemented using a descriptive qualitative approach through lectures, discussions, and training. The material presented by lecturers and students included an introduction to the basic concepts of deep learning, their application in learning, and relevant implementation strategies. Results: The training results demonstrated improved teacher competency in implementing deep learning- based instruction. Eighty-five percent of participants were able to design meaningful learning activities. This indicates the training's positive impact on improving teachers' pedagogical skills. Conclusion: This training shows that teachers need systematic planning, the role of a facilitator in implementation, and authentic evaluation of the Solo Taxonomy.

Abstract

Introduction: The rapid growth of population and economic activity has exacerbated waste management challenges in Indonesia, including in West Aceh Regency. The imbalance between waste generation and the capacity of existing management systems has led to waste accumulation in various locations, particularly in densely populated areas. This study aims to examine the role of the Environmental Agency (DLH) in addressing waste congestionand to identify the supporting and constraining factors that influence the implementation of waste management policies in West Aceh Regency. A qualitative descriptive design with a phenomenological approach was employed to gain an in-depth understanding of the experiences and perceptions of waste management stakeholders. Data were collected through in-depth interviews,field observations, and document review using purposive sampling, involving DLH officials, sanitation workers, and community members. Data analysis was conducted through iterative processes of reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings indicate that the West Aceh DLH plays a strategic role in waste management through the implementation of a controlled landfill system, community education on waste segregation, and strengthened cross- sectoral collaboration such as waste bank initiatives and communal clean-up activities. However, policy effectiveness remains constrained by limitedfacilities and infrastructure, insufficient human resources, and low community participation in fee payment and waste sorting practices. In conclusion, successful waste management in West Aceh requires greater synergy among institutional capacity, regulatory support, and community-based social awareness to ensure sustainable waste governance.

Abstract

This study investigates students’ perceptions of the Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka (PMM) 4 Program at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) Bali. The research aims to explore how participants perceive the academic, cultural, and personal dimensions of their experience during the exchange, including the benefits, challenges, and transformative impacts encountered throughout the program. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with four PMM 4 alumni from various Indonesian universities. The findings reveal that students hold predominantly positive perceptions of the program. Academically, PMM 4 enriched their learning experiences through exposure to diverse teaching methods, interdisciplinary courses, and active classroom engagement, which enhanced critical thinking and communication skills. Culturally, the program fostered intercultural awareness and appreciation of Indonesia’s pluralism, enabling participants to develop tolerance and empathy through direct immersion in Balinese traditions. Personally, students reported notable growth in confidence, adaptability, and independence while navigating new academic and social environments. However, several challenges were also identified, including differences in teaching styles, limited coordination between host and home institutions, and workload intensity. Despite these issues, PMM 4 was perceived as a holistic learning platform that integrates academic development with cultural and personal growth, effectively preparing students to engage in a globalized educational context. The study suggests that stronger institutional collaboration, improved mentoring systems, and balanced program design will further enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of PMM in the future.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan lingkungan hijau dan berkelanjutan di Desa Pasanggrahan melalui peningkatan kesadaran dan partisipasi aktif masyarakat. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi desa adalah rendahnya pemahaman masyarakat terhadap pentingnya pengelolaan lingkungan, pemanfaatan ruang hijau, serta penerapan perilaku ramah lingkungan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya edukatif dan pendampingan yang berkelanjutan guna mendorong perubahan sikap dan perilaku masyarakat. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan partisipatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara dengan perangkat desa dan masyarakat, diskusi kelompok terarah, serta dokumentasi kegiatan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk menggambarkan proses pelaksanaan dan hasil kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman dan kepedulian masyarakat terhadap lingkungan hijau dan berkelanjutan. Masyarakat mulai terlibat aktif dalam kegiatan lingkungan, seperti pengelolaan kebersihan, pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan, serta partisipasi dalam program-program lingkungan yang dilaksanakan. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga memperkuat kolaborasi antara tim pengabdian, perangkat desa, dan masyarakat dalam upaya menciptakan lingkungan desa yang bersih, sehat, dan berkelanjutan. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa program pengembangan lingkungan hijau dan berkelanjutan di Desa Pasanggrahan berhasil mencapai tujuan yang telah ditetapkan. Pendekatan partisipatif dan metode kualitatif deskriptif terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran serta mendorong peran aktif masyarakat. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar bagi pengembangan program lingkungan berkelanjutan di masa mendatang.

Abstract

The research of Synthesis and Characterization of Aluminum Oxide (Al2O3) Nanoparticle from Aluminum Waste for Nanofluids has been done. The purpose from this research are knowing the influence of heating temperature tonanoparticle Al2O3 forming and the influence of composition to physico-chemical characteristic of nanofluids Al2O3.The heating temperature variation that that use of 6000C, 7000C, and 8000C. While the composition variation that use of 0.1 gram, 0.2 gram, 0.3 gram, and 0.5 gram. Aluminium Oxide nanoparticle were synthesized by heating Al(OH)3 as precursor derived from aluminum waste precipitation. Aluminum Oxide nanoparticle were suspended with 100 ml of Aquades and dispersed with ultra sonicated to produce Al2O3 nanofluids. Al2O3 nanoparticle has been obtained doing the characterization are the test of XRD (X-Ray Diffraction), SAA (Surface Area Analyzer), Density, Viscosity, CHF (Critical Heat Flux) and Zeta Potential. XRD data showed that the crystallized peak from Al2O3 nanoparticle are gamma alumina with the crystallite size of 6,5 nm (Debye-Scherrer Method). The Surface Area test result from Al2O3 nanoparticle is 149,98 m2/gram and obtained shape of11 nm. According zeta potential data, Nano fluids were stable at pH of 6,3 with zeta potential of 36,70 - 43,53 mV. The density test result obtained with the highest value about 1,503 g/cm3, The viscosity test of 0.92 mPa.s at the composition variation of 0.5 gram. The Nano fluids of the surface decreased 40% after 7 days. CHF test result of Al2O3 nanofluids obtained enhancement about 53,21% at the composition variation of 0.5 gram compared to that of Aquades.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) in improving the quality of education based on spiritual aspects, particularly students’ responsibility and discipline at SMAS Tahfidz Al Quran Wahdah Islamiyah Anabanua. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students as research informants. The results show that the implementation of IQAS has been carried out through the PPEPP cycle (Determination, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement) in a systematic and continuous manner. At the determination stage, the school sets quality standards not only in academic aspects but also in spiritual dimensions as a distinctive characteristic of Islamic educational institutions. At the implementation stage, spiritual values are integrated into school activities such as Quran memorization programs, daily worship practices, moral habituation, and character development of students consistently. The evaluation and control stages are conducted periodically through activity monitoring and assessment of students’ attitudes. The evaluation results are then used as the basis for continuous improvement to enhance program effectiveness. Supporting factors include visionary school leadership, active teacher involvement, and a strong religious school culture. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include limited understanding of IQAS among school members and limited supporting resources. Overall, the implementation of IQAS contributes significantly to improving educational quality, both academically and spiritually, and in shaping disciplined, responsible, and morally upright students in daily life, while strengthening a sustainable and comprehensive quality culture based on Islamic values.

Abstract

Kebun Raya Cibinong merupakan sebuah kawasan yang berfungsi konservasi ex-situ mengingat sebagian koleksinya adalah jenis-jenis tumbuhan langka, termasuk jenis-jenis yang endemik Indonesia. Kegiatan eksplorasi ini menggunakan perangkap serangga yaitu “malaise trap” yang umum dilakukan dalam kegiatan eksplorasi serangga, perangkap berbentuk tenda yang terbuat dari bahan jaring halus dan terutama digunakan untuk mengumpulkan lalat (Diptera) dan tawon (Hymenoptera). Penelitian ini mencatat 30 spesies serangga yang terbagi dalam beberapa ordo seperti Diptera, Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera, Hemiptera, Coleoptera, Trichoptera, dan Psocoptera. Total jumlah individu yang teridentifikasi sebanyak 967 ekor. Hasil perhitungan RAI menunjukkan bahwa spesies Psychodidae sp. Memiliki RAI tertinggi dengan 70,73%, yang menjadikannya spesies dominan di lokasi penelitian ini. Sebagian besar spesies lain memiliki RAI di bawah 2,5%, menunjukkan bahwa mereka berkontribusi dalam jumlah kecil terhadap komunitas serangga secara keseluruhan. Nilai H’ sebesar 1,419 menunjukkan faktor keanekaragaman spesies yang sedang. Nilai ini mengindikasikan bahwa meskipun terdapat variasi spesies, distribusi individu antar spesies tidak merata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kelimpahan populasi serangga di Kebun Raya Cibinong serta memahami faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi distribusinya. Hasil penelitian ini mengindikasikan bahwa meski ekosistem serangga di Kebun Raya Cibinong dalam stabilitas yang baik, namun  rentan terhadap perubahan lingkungan, terutama jika jenis yang dominan mengalami penurunan populasi.
