Abstract

Self-esteem is one of the factors that influence student success in academic achievement. Low self-esteem is indicated by the nature of students who tend to be lazy and less focused on learning. The research objective was to determine the level of self-esteem of class XII SMA Majalengka students in the 2019/2020 school year. This research method is quantitative through data collection related to student self-esteem. The sample is 72 students from class XII IPS. The results of research when learning online, it can be seen that the lowest average score for students' self-esteem is on the indicators of seriousness and focus when learning mathematics. This means that the majority of students are less focused when learning mathematics during online learning, and the motivation that comes from within them is very lacking so that they are not serious about learning mathematics. Meanwhile, the highest score is in the indicator of self-satisfaction obtained by students when they are successful in learning mathematics. Of course, this is comparable to the efforts made by students to be successful in learning mathematics, namely by studying and practicing mathematics diligently.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is an important topic in reproductive health, especially in adolescents because it has a major impact on the quality of life of adolescents. Dysmenorrhea in adolescents negatively affects physical activity, school attendance, concentration during lessons and academic performance. Some of the symptoms that adolescents often experience in dysmenorrhea include headaches, back pain, fatigue, anxiety and other physical and psychological complaints. Pharmacological treatments commonly used often cause dangerous side effects so alternative treatments are needed that are considered safer and more effective. Peppermint is an example of a nonpharmacological therapy that aims to provide a distraction and relaxation effect of the body by stimulating the body to release endorphine compounds which are pain relievers so as to create feelings of comfort, calm nerves, and stabilize blood pressure. Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of Peppermint lotion administration on pain intensity and cortisol levels in adolescents with primary dysmenorrhea. Method: This study is a true experiment with randomized pretest-posttest with control group. The number of samples in the study was 40 adolescent respondents with primary dysmenorrhea according to inclusion criteria divided into 20 people in the intervention group who were given 3% peppermint lotion with a frequency of administration 3 times a day for 3 days and 20 people in the control group given placebo lotion. Measurement of pain intensity using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and cortisol levels using blood serum performed on the first day (pretest) and third day of menstruation (posttest). Data analysis using independent t test and mann whitney. Results: In the intervention group given peppermint lotion there was an average decrease in pain intensity of 4.6 while the control group was 3.55 with effect size 0.867 and p value = 0.013. The average decrease in cortisol levels in the intervention group was 2.64 μg/dL and the control group was 0.94 μg/dL with effect size 0.864 and p value = 0.010. Conclusions: Administration of peppermint lotion for 3 days has an effect on reducing pain intensity and cortisol levels in adolescents with primary dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that often presents without symptoms and is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The prevalence of hypertension is significantly higher in women compared to men. Among women of childbearing age, hypertension increases the risk of complications during pregnancy, such as preeclampsia and bleeding. Elevated hematocrit levels are strongly associated with hypertension in women, contributing to increased vascular resistance and blood pressure. Efforts to manage hypertension include pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. In North Maluku, one of the traditional healing practices passed down through generations for lowering blood pressure involves the use of African leaves (Vernonia amygdalina). This study aims to analyze changes in hematocrit levels and blood pressure in women of childbearing age with hypertension before and after consuming 2.4 grams of African leaf tea (Vernonia amygdalina) for 14 days as a companion to antihypertensive medicine. This research employed a true experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group format. The population consisted of 97 hypertensive women of childbearing age in the service area of the Sanana Public Health Center, Sula Islands, North Maluku. A total of 32 participants were randomly selected. The intervention group received Amlodipine 5 mg as an antihypertensive medication along with 2.4 grams of African leaf tea consumed once daily for 14 days. Blood pressure measurements and venous blood sampling for hematocrit level analysis were conducted on days 8 and 15. Data were analyzed using the General Linear Model Repeated Measures (GLM-RM) approach. The findings demonstrated significant reductions in hematocrit levels and blood pressure among hypertensive women of childbearing age in the intervention group, with a p-value of 0.000. The administration of 2.4 grams of African leaf tea (Vernonia amygdalina) daily for 14 days, as a complementary therapy to antihypertensive medication, is effective in reducing hematocrit levels and blood pressure in women of childbearing age with hypertension.

Abstract

Anemia continues to be a major nutritional problem in Indonesia, especially among school children and adolescents, which in turn can inhibit growth, reduce learning achievement, and weaken endurance due to reduced concentration and can cause complications during pregnancy, so researchers innovate in preventing these nutritional problems by providing Red Spinach Tea (Amaranthus Tricolor L) and Blood Addition Tablets. Analyzing the effect of Red Spinach Tea (Amaranthus Tricolor L) dose of 2 gr plus 60 mg fe tablets given once a day for 14 days on hemoglobin, hematocrit and erythrocyte levels in adolescent girls with anemia. True Experiment research with pretest-postest design with control group, consisting of 2 groups. The population was female students at Poltekkes Kemenkes Medan with the age of 17-19 years with a total sample of 20 respondents per group. The intervention was given a dose of red spinach tea 2 g given once a day for 14 days and 60 mg blood supplement tablets once a day for 14 days. Bivariate test for paired groups with non-normally distributed data using the Wilcoxon test. Bivariate tests for anpaired groups of pre and post data are not normally distributed, then use the Mann-Whitney test. It was found that the average hemoglobin, hematocrit and erythrocytes in adolescent girls in the intervention group with the administration of Red Spinach Tea and Blood Addition Tablets were higher than the control group with the consumption of Blood Addition Tablets. There is an effect of giving Red Spinach Tea and Blood Addition Tablets on increasing hemoglobin, hematocrit and erythrocyte levels in anemic adolescent girls with p-value = 0,000 (<0.05). Red Spinach Tea (Amaranthus Tricolor L) can potentially be used as a companion to blood supplement tablets to improve anemia status in adolescent girls. Thus, Red Spinach Tea can be utilized as an alternative to complementary therapy in preventing anemia.

Abstract

The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is 24.4%, which is higher than the WHO average of 20%. One of the efforts that can be made to reduce stunting rates is the early detection of stunting in infants. An interactive e-booklet media called Busita was developed to provide practical early detection tools. The aim was to develop an interactive electronic booklet that provides content from the Busita module. The research method used in this study was Research and Development (R&D). Validity testing was conducted using a group of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), determined by the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI), and the USE Questionnaire for the media validated by five experts. The Busita module contains all essential materials inside, as proven by CVR and CVI values between 0 and 1, with an average of 0.8, which can be interpreted as very good and important. The interactive e-booklet Busita media obtained a feasibility assessment through expert validation with an average score of 84.09, covering four aspects of assessment: usefulness, ease of use, ease of learning, and satisfaction. This research also involved five cadres in a pilot study, and the results of the dependent t-test showed a p-value of <0.05. The module and the media have been shown to measure knowledge, attitude, and practice in the early detection of infant stunting.

Abstract

Premenstrual Syndrome is a condition commonly experienced by young women with physical and emotional symptoms that interfere with daily activities. The prevalence of PMS in Indonesia reaches 85% of the entire female population of reproductive age, consisting of 60-75% experiencing moderate and severe PMS. This study aimed to prove the effectiveness of pumpkin seed extract (Curcubita moschata) in reducing the level of Premenstrual Syndrome pain in young women. This quantitative research, using a True Experimental design, employed a pre-test and post-test with a control group design. The study population consisted of all young women experiencing premenstrual syndrome in the Semarang Ministry of Health Polytechnic area. The sampling technique used was a randomized clinical trial with 42 samples. Ethical approval from the Health Research Ethics Commission of Poltekkes Kemenkes Semarang with Number 1185/EA/F.XXIII.38/2024. The research was conducted on three treatment groups: intervention 1 with a dose of 500 mg 2x2 a day, intervention 2 with a dose of 500 mg 2x1 a day, and the control group which received starch tablets 500 mg 2x1 a day for 10 days. The results analyzed using the Paired T-Test showed that giving pumpkin seed extract at a dose of 500 mg 2x2 a day for 10 days could most significantly reduced the intensity of premenstrual syndrome pain (p-value 0.000; mean 3.86) compared to intervention 2 and control. These findings suggest that pumpkin seed extract has the potential to be an effective natural alternative for reducing PMS symptoms in adolescent girls, particularly in pain reduction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for developing learning media in the form of acoustic music-based songs to support language acquisition in children aged 5–6 years in kindergarten. Language and music are essential components of early childhood development, as songs serve not only as entertainment but also as tools for stimulating cognitive, emotional, and linguistic growth. Using a qualitative descriptive approach through interviews and observations with teachers and students at Pembina 5 State Kindergarten in Palembang and several other kindergartens, the study found that songs are frequently used in learning activities and are considered effective in improving children’s language, cognitive, and motor skills. The children showed great enthusiasm for singing, particularly when accompanied by acoustic instruments such as guitars and ukuleles, which created a more interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere. Teachers also highlighted the need for new acoustic songs designed to match the vocal characteristics and thematic learning needs of young children. These findings suggest that developing acoustic music-based songs is important as an innovative learning medium that can enhance children’s language literacy, foster creativity, and increase active participation in the classroom. Overall, acoustic music offers a more authentic and engaging approach to early language learning.
