Abstract

Premenstrual Syndrome is a condition commonly experienced by young women with physical and emotional symptoms that interfere with daily activities. The prevalence of PMS in Indonesia reaches 85% of the entire female population of reproductive age, consisting of 60-75% experiencing moderate and severe PMS. This study aimed to prove the effectiveness of pumpkin seed extract (Curcubita moschata) in reducing the level of Premenstrual Syndrome pain in young women. This quantitative research, using a True Experimental design, employed a pre-test and post-test with a control group design. The study population consisted of all young women experiencing premenstrual syndrome in the Semarang Ministry of Health Polytechnic area. The sampling technique used was a randomized clinical trial with 42 samples. Ethical approval from the Health Research Ethics Commission of Poltekkes Kemenkes Semarang with Number 1185/EA/F.XXIII.38/2024. The research was conducted on three treatment groups: intervention 1 with a dose of 500 mg 2x2 a day, intervention 2 with a dose of 500 mg 2x1 a day, and the control group which received starch tablets 500 mg 2x1 a day for 10 days. The results analyzed using the Paired T-Test showed that giving pumpkin seed extract at a dose of 500 mg 2x2 a day for 10 days could most significantly reduced the intensity of premenstrual syndrome pain (p-value 0.000; mean 3.86) compared to intervention 2 and control. These findings suggest that pumpkin seed extract has the potential to be an effective natural alternative for reducing PMS symptoms in adolescent girls, particularly in pain reduction.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate literacy skills, the underlying causes of low literacy levels, and the implications for primary school students in the digital age. The researcher employed a qualitative field research methodology, collecting data through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and the utilization of Google Forms. The data analysis involved systematic reduction, presentation of findings, and the formulation of conclusions, all while employing coding techniques and categorizing themes. The findings indicate that the literacy skills of elementary school students in Indonesia remain significantly underdeveloped. A considerable number of students encounter difficulties in comprehending simple texts, organizing their thoughts in writing, and understanding the material presented by teachers. Additionally, they face challenges in grasping fundamental mathematics and science concepts, as well as effectively utilizing digital tools in their educational experiences. Several factors contribute to the observed low literacy levels, including a lack of supportive familial environments, inadequate integration of technology in educational settings, ineffective instructional models, and limited access to digital resources and training. The repercussions of insufficient literacy skills are evident in students’ difficulties in solving problems, accessing information, and articulating their thoughts, both verbally and in written form. To mitigate this issue, it is recommended that educators integrate digital tools into their pedagogical strategies. This can be achieved through the implementation of project-based learning and the use of educational podcasts disseminated via online platforms.

Abstract

The image of a tourism destination plays a crucial role in attracting visitors and maintaining its competitiveness in the global market. This study examines the interaction between social media and mass media in shaping destination image, highlighting their complementary roles and the challenges in balancing their influence. Social media, characterized by its speed, interactivity, and user-generated content (UGC), provides early exposure to destinations, enabling rapid dissemination of information through viral campaigns, influencer promotions, and traveler reviews. However, it is often criticized for its lack of credibility, susceptibility to misinformation, and exaggerated portrayals. Conversely, mass media offers higher credibility and long-term influence through feature articles, expert testimonials, and structured storytelling, although it lacks social media's immediacy and engagement levels. This study employs a qualitative case study approach, utilizing content analysis of social media and mass media platforms and semi-structured interviews with 20 tourists and five destination managers. Findings indicate that 70% of tourists prefer social media for travel planning, as it provides real-time reviews and visually engaging content, while 30% rely on mass media for more credible and in-depth information. Destination managers adopt different strategies based on the type of tourism they promote; nature-based and urban destinations favor social media for rapid engagement, whereas cultural and historical destinations prioritize mass media for credibility and structured narratives. The Media Balance Model in Building Tourism Destination Image is proposed as a framework for integrating social media’s exposure and mass media’s credibility. The study underscores the importance of a holistic communication strategy, where social media is used for immediate attraction and engagement, while mass media reinforces long-term trust and reputation. As a practical implication, tourism stakeholders are advised to actively monitor online sentiment, manage crisis communication effectively, and collaborate with both media types to create a consistent and sustainable destination image.

Abstract

Religious moderation is essential to prevent conflict in a diverse society. This study analyzes the program of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Bantul Regency using Peter L. Berger's social construction theory. Field research with a qualitative approach found that religious moderation is formed through three social dialectic processes: externalization, namely the adaptation of individuals to the social structure of religious moderation through religious texts and figures; objectivation, namely the development of awareness of moderation as a positive action through tradition and institutionalization; and internalization, namely the identification of individuals in the socio-cultural context that forms inclusive and exclusive groups. The program of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Bantul Regency plays an important role in building a social foundation that supports religious moderation in Bantul.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to improve fine motor development in children aged 4-5 years through finger painting activities. Using a quantitative approach with a one-shot case study design, involving 17 children at Raudhatul Athfal Nurul Falah Baturaja.Method – Using a quantitative research design, with test instruments as the main tool for data collection. This study used a post-test to assess the improvement of fine motor skills involving 17 children at RA Nurul Falah. using the purposive sampling technique and using statistical tests with the help of SPSS, namely, the t-test, validity test, and reliability test. Findings – The results showed a significant increase in children's fine motor skills. The results of statistical tests using the t-test show a significant increase, where the t-count value of 4.08 is greater than the t-table value of 1.746, so Ho is rejected, and Ha is accepted. This finding confirms that finger painting acts as an effective sensory stimulation medium in improving children's fine motor skills. Research Implications – These findings provide empirical evidence that finger painting can be used as a neuromuscular development connection that can strengthen hand-eye coordination in early childhood. If children are involved in finger painting activities regularly, the development of small muscles in the hands and fingers will increase optimally. If finger painting is integrated into the PAUD curriculum, there will be an increase in children's readiness in writing and drawing when entering primary education.
