Abstract

The purpose of this research is to holistically analyze the elements that shaped the journey of the Mughal Empire, from its heyday to its decline, in the hope of providing new insights into the pattern of dynastic rule in South Asian history. This research uses a qualitative historical method with a document analysis and literature study approach. Data were obtained from primary and secondary sources, including historical records, archives, and modern literature on Mughal politics. The results show that the rise and glory of the Mughal Empire was driven by factors such as visionary leadership (for example, Akbar who introduced a policy of religious tolerance), innovations in administration and taxation systems, and economic support through international trade. On the other hand, internal conflicts such as power struggles among heirs to the throne, mounting financial burdens due to prolonged wars, as well as resistance from other regional and religious groups were the main causes of its downfall. The implication of this research is the importance of maintaining internal stability and policy innovation in sustaining the dynasty. The contribution of this research lies in enriching the literature on the history of Islamic dynasties in South Asia, which is relevant to understanding power dynamics in multicultural and multireligious contexts.

Abstract

Abstract

Arabic language learning in MTs has a strategic role in equipping students with communication skills, both verbally and in writing. One important aspect of mastering Arabic is vocabulary. However, vocabulary learning in madrasas often faces challenges, such as monotonous methods, minimal active student involvement, and a less contextual approach. This circumstance has an impact on low motivation and slow improvement in vocabulary mastery. This study aims to explore how project-based vocabulary learning is implemented using the independent curriculum approachach at MTsN Batu. We collected data through observation, interviews, and documentation studies, using a qualitative approach and a case study method.he results of the study indicate that the purpose of this learning is to improve students' understanding and skills through contextual, practical, and competency-based learning experiences. The steps include asking basic questions, project planning, determining project schedules, project assessments, and evaluating experiences. However, the evaluation stage of experiences has not been optimal due to time constraints. The advantages of this method include training independence and responsibility, increasing motivation, and training collaboration. Meanwhile, the disadvantages are that it takes longer, the teacher's burden is heavier, and there are variations in student abilities. Overall, this method has a positive impact on student engagement and understanding of Arabic vocabulary. For optimization, a more targeted mentoring strategy, good time management, and sufficient support for teachers are needed in implementing it.

Abstract

Tashrif Ishtilahi learning at Muhammadiyah Senior High School has become monotonous for students. The teacher implemented a "fun learning" strategy supported by a snakes and ladders game as instructional media to address this issue. This study aims to: describe the use of the snakes and ladders media in Tashrif Ishtilahi instruction, and examine classroom learning activities involving this media. This research adopts a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Observations and interviews were conducted to explore the classroom activities utilizing the Snakes and Ladders media, while interviews specifically captured teachers' responses to these learning activities. Documentation was used to gather visual data during the implementation process. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's model, which involves three stages: data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. To ensure data validity, source triangulation was applied. The study yielded two main findings: the snakes and ladders media was designed using Canva, printed on A3 paper, and equipped with four tokens and one die to accommodate group play; and the gameplay resembled that of a conventional snakes and ladders game, with students required to correctly pronounce Tashrif Ishtilahi forms before moving to the next square.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of local language (Madurese) interference on foreign language (Arabic) acquisition among rural Indonesian santri communities. Recognizing that traditional views often frame interference as a linguistic deficit, this research addresses a gap in the existing literature by exploring the deeper sociolinguistic dynamics and informal language use within rural pesantren settings. Specifically, it aims to analyze (1) forms of local language interference in Arabic, (2) factors causing such interference, and (3) its impact on santri speaking skills. Employing a qualitative-ethnographic design, the study collected data through naturalistic observation and unstructured interviews with 79 Madurese-speaking santri in Gondanglegi sub-district, East Java, analyzing them within a sociolinguistic framework grounded in interference theory and diglossia. Findings reveal significant phonological, morphological, syntactic, and lexical interference patterns demonstrably linked to the unique sociocultural context of pesantren multilingualism. Critically, these interferences are not merely errors but actively foster community, playfulness, and shared identity, thereby transforming Arabic into a more dynamic and engaging learning experience. This research offers a novel sociolinguistic analysis, arguing that interference in this context functions as an active strategy for religious pedagogy and cultural preservation. It expands translanguaging theory by highlighting the sacred-secular duality in language mixing—a phenomenon rarely documented in traditional Islamic education globally.

Abstract

Religious texts written in Arabic are created as a symbol that is not independent from the influence of cultural and social societies. Arab society, which adheres to the patriarchi system in their life, greatly affects every arrangement of their lives as well as Arabic language. It finally creates gender bias in the Arabic language. The gender bias has explicit symbol / word / sign in Arabic which is called function. Meanwhile, Islam itself contains the source of the Qur’an and hadith which are written in Arabic that strongly supports the dignity of women and men in equal rights and position. To answer the problem above, researchers used qualitative and descriptive research methods to express the form of words and language in context. Meanwhile, data analysis is analyzed by using the theory of disassociation Jacques Derrida to find discrepancies in the content of the text through three stages . The first stage, the verbal stage is a critical reading by finding paradoxes and contradictions in the text. The second stage, the textual stage, attempts to find a deeper meaning in the whole text. The third stage, the linguistic stage, is the stage in which the reader requests the appropriateness of the text, its error and its excessive language. The results of this research is expected to finding gender bias in Arabic language and the factors which cause the problems of gender bias in Arabic and our perspecitve of religous texts written in Arabic. Thus, this research is significant as it contributes in Arabic language.

Abstract

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic forced many universities to apply online learning. The purpose of this study was to break down the online learning process in the early pandemic as well as effective and optimal online learning. The design of this research is descriptive qualitative research. The data were collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Interestingly, this study found online learning using the WhatsApp Group to be the most effective in the early COVID-19 pandemic. WhatsApp is easy, simple, and does not require a large data quota package. Through WhatsApp accounts, learning took place optimally because students and lecturers could communicate and share PowerPoint files, Microsoft Word files, JPGs, Voice Notes, Videos, and other learning resource links. The study recommends that other researchers uncover the solution to obstacles experienced by students in online learning and the development of other media to implement effective online lectures.
