Abstract

Microplastics originated from degraded plastic materials that may be flown to water bodies and accidentally swallowed by aquatic organisms. The Research aims to understand the microplastics in the water body in the Lubuk Siam lake and was conducted from September to November 2020. Samplings were conducted 3 times, once per month, in 3 sampling points. At each sampling point, 100 L of water was taken and filtered using a planktonnet (30 µm mesh size). To obtain the microplastics, the filtered water was again filtered using Whatman filter paper No.42, and the type of microplastics were identified using a binocular microscope. Results show the types of microplastics found in the water namely fibers, films, and fragments. The microplastic density was (10 fibers/m3), (93 films/m3) and (40 fragments/m3) in the water. Data obtained indicate that the most common type of microplastic found in the waters was film.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to identify the factors influencing the interest of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in adopting digital zakat payments, with a particular focus on the role of zakat in supporting local economic development.Method: A quantitative research design was employed, with the population comprising all MSMEs operating in Malang City. A purposive sampling technique was utilized, yielding a sample of 100 respondents. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.Result: The findings indicate that zakat literacy, convenience, and religiosity have a positive and significant effect on the interest in digital zakat payments. This suggests that a strong understanding of zakat, the ease of use offered by digital platforms, and individuals' levels of religiosity enhance the likelihood of utilizing these platforms for zakat contributions. In contrast, trust does not exert a significant influence on digital zakat payment interest, indicating potential concerns regarding the perceived reliability of digital platforms for zakat distribution. Furthermore, transparency has a negative effect, suggesting a lack of understanding regarding the openness and accountability of zakat institutions.Practical Implications for Economic Growth and Development: The study recommends that zakat institutions enhance transparency and user convenience in the management of digital zakat payments. Strengthening these aspects may lead to greater participation in zakat contributions, thereby fostering broader economic growth and development.

Abstract

ntroduction: Mercury compounds are divided into elemental mercury, inorganic mercury, and organic mercury. Exposure to mercury through both direct and indirect pathways can have serious impacts on environmental and health issues, especially sensitive populations such as pregnant women, infants, and children. According to the Global Nielsen institution, 45% of women in Indonesia use whitening cosmetics. It should be noted that the content of whitening cosmetics contains mercury and its derivatives. Pregnant women are exposed to mercury through the use of cosmetics and the consumption of seafood. The impact caused if accumulated in the placenta will cause neonatal neurodevelopmental risk. This study aimed to analysed the quantitative risk assessment of prenatal mercury exposure and neurodevelopmental risk. Methods: The study design is an observational analytic with a cross-sectional study. Statistical analysis of Hg concentration in scalp hair samples was performed using SPSS software. The correlation between Hg concentration in scalp hair and skin whitening cosmetics was determined by chi-square correlation analysis, with p < 0.05 considered significant. The quantitative risk assessment (QRA) method analyses hazard identification, assessment exposure, hazard characterization, and risk characterization. The sample used was 20 pregnant women and 20 babies. The mercury concentration in the scalp hair of pregnant women and their babies will be examined in the BBLK Laboratory. Results: The results of this study indicate that hazard identifications were mercury concentrations in the scalp hair of pregnant women is average of 7.04 (range 0.18-41.70 ppm, the mercury concentration in scalp hair is average of 0.71 (range 0.24-1.68), mercury whitening cosmetic is average 17.34 (range 3.5-86.0 ppm). Hazard characteristics are divided according to HBM 3 categories: normal at 60%, alert at 15%, and high at 25% for mercury concentration in pregnant women. In comparison, the baby concentration is divided into two categories: normal 70% and alert 30%. Risk characteristics found that around nine people, or 45% of babies, experienced the risk of neurodevelopmental symptoms, and mothers exposed to mercury had an impact on their babies. Conclusion: This study highlights the occurrence of Hg in skin-whitening cosmetics and the accumulation of Hg in the human body through their application. There is a correlation between mercury in pregnant women's scalp hair and the mercury concentration in their babies. Babies exposed to mercury with alert concentration levels have a neurodevelopmental risk. Therefore, it is better not to use whitening cosmetics during prenatal periods because mercury exposure can affect the baby.

Abstract

This journal analyzes the procedural criminal law (KUHAP) in dealing with cybercrime within formal legal law. The analysis highlights the use of cloud storage as a media to store the proceeds of crime, in the form of data privacy. As a case study to show how cyber criminals commit cyber crimes by using computer networks, investigators still face difficulties in conducting searches and seizures to obtain evidence. The results of data theft crimes which are stored in cloud storage, make digital evidence difficult to be seized, nothing can be used as evidence. As a result, digital evidence from crimes remains accessible and can be reused in subsequent crime, while, hackers remain uncaptured. What strategies can the Indonesian government implement to overcome and prevent cyberbcrime attacks in the future? This requires reformulating legal provisions as amendments and improvements to Law Number 8 of 1981 concerning the Indonesian Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), with reference to the Budapest Convention. This research examines the main problem using a normative juridical approach, statutory approach, case approach, and comparative legal methods, combined with qualitative analysis approach. It philosophically examines the principle of legal certainty and analyzes legal theories of punishment and confiscation. Thus, a formal procedural legal system is applied to regulate the seizure and search of intangible electronic, enabling the electronic evidence stored in cloud to be seized or taken down from cyberspace, declared valid in court, fulfilling the principle of legal certainty to trace the footsteps of hackers across countries/internationally.

Abstract

The asset forfeiture of corruption proceeds is essential for recovering state losses and preventing criminals from benefiting economically from their crimes. However, this policy raises legal challenges when assets are in the hands of third parties acting in good faith. This study aims to explore the economic rights of such third parties and examine the legal protection of their rights during the seizure of assets derived from corruption. This study employs a normative juridical approach, utilizing statutory, conceptual, and case analyses. The findings reveal an imbalance between asset forfeiture policies and the principle of justice for third parties who acquire assets legally. Although regulations govern objections from good-faith third parties, practical implementation still faces difficulties in terms of proof and legal interpretation. Thus, this study suggests the need for more detailed regulatory reforms to ensure the fair protection of the economic rights of good-faith third parties while facilitating the recovery of state assets.
