Abstract

Guidance and counseling are aspects that cannot be separated from education. Education is not just a teaching and learning process, but will also influence the problems experienced by students. In its implementation, guidance and counseling teachers are professional figures who will help serve students in achieving development. Students need guidance and counseling because they still lack knowledge regarding themselves and their environment. Guidance and counseling teachers need valid data to describe students' needs. For this reason, it is hoped that the existence of assessments can be a tool in knowing the needs of each student. Where the results of the assessment will help guidance and counseling teachers in implementing guidance and counseling programs. A guidance and counseling program will not run efficiently if its implementation is not systematic and not aligned with a quality management system. In this research, the author used a qualitative method in the nature of a literature study. This method requires books or other literature as the main material. So it is found that assessment has an important role in implementing guidance and counseling programs. The assessment will later be able to help guidance and counseling teachers in making accurate diagnoses, developing effective action plans, increasing students' self-related knowledge, and so on. The stages in preparing a guidance and counseling program so that it runs effectively are as follows: a). preparation stage, which includes assessment b). Design stages, which include preparing annual and semester guidance and counseling programs. Keywords: Assessment, guidance and counseling program, urgency of assessment

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relevance of Pancawaskita Counseling (KOPASTA) to the development of independence and effective daily living (KES) among junior high school students at the Indonesian School in Jeddah (SIJ). This approach is considered essential in the multicultural and religious context of education abroad, where Indonesian students face challenges of social adaptation, differences in cultural values, and the need for contextual counseling. The research method used is a library study (literature review) of ten scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025. The analysis shows that KOPASTA, as an eclectic and integrative counseling theory grounded in the values of Pancasila, Lirahid, Pancadaya, Masidu, and Likuladu, provides a conceptual foundation for developing the independence of Indonesian diaspora students. The approach emphasizes the balance between Internal Meaning (Arti Dari Dalam/ADD) and External Meaning (Arti Dari Luar/ADL) in forming a new gatra, which represents a wise, autonomous, and effective individual. Applying KOPASTA’s values in the Indonesian School in Jeddah can strengthen students’ moral, emotional, and spiritual resilience while fostering their national identity within a global environment.

Abstract

Toxic masculinity is a social construct in patriarchal societies, characterizing male attitudes that dominate and accentuate gender inequality with women in lower positions, influencing detrimental behavioral patterns. This research aims to examine the effectiveness of Rational Emotive Behavior Group Counseling in reducing toxic masculinity behaviors among high school students within the context of patriarchal culture. The study employed an experimental design with a pretest and posttest control group arrangement. From the Toxic masculinity inventory measurements, twelve students with high levels of toxic masculinity characteristics were identified. Subject selection was randomized, with six students in each experimental and control group. Data collected were analyzed using a paired sample T-test, revealing a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). Therefore, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, indicating that Rational Emotive Behavior Group Counseling is effective in reducing toxic masculinity behaviors among high school students influenced by patriarchal culture. This research contributes to understanding the effectiveness of group counseling interventions with the Rational Emotive Behavior Group Counseling approach in addressing the impact of toxic masculinity. The implications have the potential to transform student behavior towards gender balance and equality within the patriarchal culture of high school education environments.
