Abstract

The phenomenon of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) has become a social issue that has sparked controversy in society. Public perception of LGBT is influenced by cultural, religious, educational, and prevailing social values. This study aims to analyze public perceptions of LGBT issues from a cultural sociology perspective. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive-analytical approach through literature study and interviews. The results of the study show that most people view LGBT as a deviation from local social and cultural norms, although there are groups that are beginning to be more inclusive on the grounds of human rights. From a cultural sociology perspective, these perceptions are formed through the internalization of values, social interaction, and cultural constructs that develop within society.

Abstract

Background: Elementary school children's nutritional knowledge remains low, potentially leading to unhealthy eating behaviors and long-term health risks. Traditional educational methods tend to be less engaging for children, necessitating an interactive approach that can enhance understanding and motivation to learn. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of online game-based nutrition education on school children's knowledge of healthy eating. Methods: The study used a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test design with 60 students in grades 4-6 of elementary school in District X. The research instrument was a validated nutritional knowledge questionnaire consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions regarding healthy food types, balanced nutrition, and good eating habits. The intervention was conducted for 2 weeks, with each session lasting 20–30 minutes. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The study showed a significant increase in students' nutritional knowledge scores after participating in online game-based education, with the average score increasing from 12.5 ± 3.2 to 17.8 ± 2.5 (p < 0.001). This indicates that the intervention was effective in improving children's understanding of healthy eating. Conclusion: Online game-based nutrition education has been shown to be effective in improving schoolchildren's knowledge of healthy eating. This method is recommended as a fun and interactive nutrition learning strategy, with long-term potential to shape healthy eating behaviors from an early age.

Abstract

Background: Efficient medication management is a critical factor in hospital pharmacy services. Many hospitals face challenges in controlling medication inventory, service times, and operational costs. Lean Management strategies offer an approach to increasing efficiency by eliminating waste, improving workflows, and optimizing resources. Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing a Lean Management strategy on medication management efficiency in a hospital pharmacy. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach. The sample consisted of the pharmacy department of one hospital implementing Lean Management, with efficiency measurements taken before and after the strategy implementation. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test to compare average medication management time, dead stock levels, and operational costs. Results: The implementation of Lean Management was proven to reduce the average medication management time from 12.5 hours to 8.2 hours per batch (p < 0.05), reduce dead stock by 15%, and reduce operational costs by 10%. Conclusion: The Lean Management strategy significantly improved medication management efficiency in the hospital pharmacy. Recommendations for ongoing implementation and staff training are needed to maintain optimal results.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Triage implementation is an important process in Emergency Department (ER) services to determine the priority of patient care based on the level of emergency. The accuracy of triage implementation greatly affects the efficiency of services and patient waiting time in receiving medical treatment. This study aims to determine the relationship between the accuracy of triage implementation and patient waiting time in the Emergency Department (ER). The study used an analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 70 patients who came to the ER and were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through observation and recording of patient medical records. Data analysis used the chi-square test. The results showed that patients with appropriate triage had a faster waiting time than patients with inappropriate triage. The results of the statistical test showed a p value = 0.021 (p < 0.05). It was concluded that there was a significant relationship between the accuracy of triage implementation and patient waiting time in the ER. Care Unit (ICU) has a high risk of experiencing burnout due to complex work demands and responsibilities in caring for critical patients. Burnout in nurses can affect the quality of nursing care provided to patients. This study aims to determine the relationship between the burnout level of ICU nurses and the quality of nursing care in critical patients. The study used an analytical design with a cross-sectional approach . The study sample consisted of 50 ICU nurses selected using a total sampling technique. Burnout was measured using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) questionnaire, while the quality of nursing care was assessed through a standard nursing service observation sheet. Data analysis used the chi-square test . The results showed that nurses with high burnout levels had lower quality of nursing care than nurses with low burnout levels. The statistical test results showed a p value = 0.021 (p < 0.05). It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between the burnout level of ICU nurses and the quality of nursing care in critical patients. Abstract

Insomnia is a sleep disorder frequently experienced by the elderly and impacts quality of life, physical health, and psychological well-being. Treatment of insomnia in the elderly is often hampered by the side effects of long-term use of sleeping pills. Hypnotherapy is a non-pharmacological therapy that can be used to safely and effectively address sleep disorders. This Community Service activity aims to improve the sleep quality of the elderly through the application of simple hypnotherapy. Implementation methods include education about insomnia in the elderly, training in basic hypnotherapy techniques, guided relaxation practice, and evaluation through pre- and post-tests. The results of the activity showed a decrease in insomnia complaints and an improvement in sleep quality in the elderly after participating in hypnotherapy sessions. Hypnotherapy can be an effective and safe alternative complementary therapy for treating insomnia in the elderly.

Abstract

Lung disease is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the community, particularly chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and lung disorders caused by exposure to air pollution and smoking. Most lung diseases develop slowly and often go undetected in the early stages because symptoms are still mild. Early screening through spirometry is a simple, non-invasive, and effective method for detecting impaired lung function early. This Community Service activity aims to conduct early screening for lung disease through spirometry and raise public awareness of the importance of lung health. Implementation methods include lung health education, spirometry examinations, interpretation of results, and health counseling. The activity results showed the detection of impaired lung function in some participants and increased public knowledge and awareness about early detection of lung disease. Spirometry screening is expected to be a preventive measure in reducing the burden of lung disease in the community.
