Abstract

Citizenship education aims to cultivate intelligent and responsible citizens. One essential characteristic of a responsible citizen is their active engagement in civic duties, as demonstrated through their attitudes and behavior. This study examines the level of civic engagement among high school students in preserving local culture during the era of disruption. The research adopts a quantitative descriptive approach and collects data from high school students in Cianjur Regency, Indonesia, using a survey questionnaire. The findings reveal that: (1) the level of civic attitude among students in cultural preservation is sufficient, with a score of 55.12%; and (2) the level of civic behavior, specifically real action taken to preserve local culture, is very low, with a score of 9.22%. This suggests that student involvement in cultural preservation needs to be further developed to safeguard local culture. Therefore, future researchers are advised to devise a Citizenship education learning model that can foster civic engagement among high school students in preserving local culture.

Abstract

Cultural communication plays an important role in maintaining and preserving the values of traditional marine education. In this context, cultural communication serves as a bridge to maintain traditional values while adapting them to the dynamics of the times in the era of modern life, especially the Mandar sailors on Kerayaan Island who have long been known for their maritime traditions inherent in their daily lives. This study aims to analyze the impact of modernization on the traditional practices and maritime cultural identity of the Mandar community. In addition, this study also presents the fact that not only the Bugis tribe is known as reliable sailors in the region, but the Mandar tribe also has a long history as accomplished sailors. The method used in the research uses a qualitative approach with the type of ethnographic research. The data was collected through direct observation in the field and in-depth interviews with local communities. Social change analysis is used as a theoretical framework to understand the maritime cultural transformation that occurs. This research shows that the entry of modern technology has slowly but surely changed the way of life of the Mandar seafaring community. Various cultural symbols that exist today are more widely used for economic purposes only, no longer as a cultural identity that is upheld. This study provides a real picture of how this change at least gives hope, that there will be no total death of traditional sized, there will always be adjustment, imaging and re-creation of new traditional authorities. The ability to survive this tradition is at least quite justified because the emergence of tradition always presupposes the presence of a 'regime of representatives' who has the authority to interpret the symbols and sacred texts of tradition for the purpose of legitimacy of power through cultural communication. Abstract

Citizen Engagement is one of the most important elements in social life. This engagement can bring up various positive contributions to a community. This activity is an important aspect of social responsibility as an active citizen. Youth participation in community activities involves community service (gotong-royong). Mutual cooperation will contribute to the growth and development of youth, as well as efforts to create community welfare. This research aims to determine the actualization of the Sakai Sambayan philosophy of youth people's life in the Kedaloman, Tanggamus district, Lampung, community in strengthening citizen engagement. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach using studies cases. The observation technique employed participant observation by becoming a member of Ikatan Muli-Mekhanai Kebandakhan in Pekon Kedaloman (local youth association). Then, interviewing the head of the organization and village officials to find out about the actualization of Sakai Sambayan local wisdom values. This study indicates that understanding the concept of Sakai Sambayan itself influences the actualization of local wisdom values in young people. Through understanding these life principles, young people have a culture of shame if they do not participate in community activities. The actualization value of Sakai Sambayan among the youth of Kedaloman can be seen in their various efforts to actively participate in the community activities, such as community service, religious activities, and the preservation of the cultural heritage in Pekon Kedaloman.

Abstract

Mental health has become a pressing issue in higher education, with university students increasingly vulnerable to stress, anxiety, and reduced academic engagement. While self-regulation and general self-efficacy are recognized as key determinants of academic adjustment, the mechanisms linking these constructs remain underexplored. This study investigates the influence of self-regulation on general self-efficacy, emphasizing the mediating role of mental well-being among university students. A total of 380 valid responses were collected from undergraduate students in Pekanbaru, Indonesia, using validated scales for self-regulation, mental well-being, and general self-efficacy. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS 26 was employed to test the hypothesized relationships. The findings reveal that self-regulation significantly predicts both mental well-being and general self-efficacy. Furthermore, mental well-being demonstrates a positive and significant mediating effect on the relationship between self-regulation and general self-efficacy. These results underscore the importance of mental well-being as a psychological resource that strengthens the pathway between self-regulatory competence and efficacy beliefs. Theoretically, this study extends self-regulated learning models by integrating mental health as a mediating construct, while practically, it highlights the need for higher education institutions to design interventions that foster both self-regulatory skills and psychological well-being. By positioning mental well-being as both an outcome of self-regulation and a driver of self-efficacy, the study provides actionable insights for enhancing student resilience and academic success, particularly in the post-pandemic era

Abstract

The increasing rates of violence against women and children in the city of Bandung make it necessary for support roles in the prevention and handling of violence cases to provide services optimally and professionally. The issue of the high rate of violence is not in line with the technical competence and psychosocial support of the caregivers. Institutionally, this impacts the delay in case resolution and the quality of professional services for the prevention and handling of violence cases not meeting standards. For the individual caregivers themselves, the impact of work pressure and exposure to violence cases presents its own challenges. The goal of this community service is to provide resilience training to companions, focusing on enhancing technical competencies and psychosocial support for companions in the prevention and handling of violence cases against women and children. This community service activity is conducted using the Logical Framework Approach (LFA) method. The social setting was carried out at the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children in Bandung City, with the intervention object being the strengthening of professional caregivers for the prevention and handling of violence cases against women and children, which includes legal companions, psychologists, and social workers. The implementation of this community service was carried out with resilience training focused on case management and coping strategies. From both trainings, there was a positive impact not only on the institutional process but also on the individuals providing support. Although case management has not yet been implemented directly, the existence of case management provides a standard reference for institutional services in preventing and handling cases of violence. Meanwhile, coping strategies become a strategy that brings positive changes to the companions; with the use of music, they can adaptively develop a resilient attitude and avoid exposure to cases of violence. Community service recommendations can focus on providing regular mental health support services to caregivers.Meningkatnya angka kekerasan pada perempuan dan anak di Kota Bandung menjadikan peran pendamping dalam rangka pencegahan dan penanganan kasus kekerasan perlu memberikan layanan secara optimal dan profesional.
