Abstract

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) includes recurring patterns of obsessions or compulsions, or a combination of both. Obsessions are persistent and intrusive thoughts that cause anxiety and are beyond the individual's ability to control. Compulsions are irresistible urges to perform certain behaviors repeatedly, such as bathing repeatedly, washing hands or clothes repeatedly. One of the counseling services provided for individuals with OCD is using the Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) approach. The method used in this research is a literature study by collecting data from previous research results and relevant results. The objectives of the literature study in this research are 1) finding the problem to be researched, 2) looking for information and data that is relevant to the topic to be discussed, 3) adding new knowledge from the results of the research being studied, 4) testing the basic truth of the approach theory in the problem under study. Meanwhile, the analysis technique used is content analysis. The results of this research indicate that the CBT approach as a counseling service in alleviating the problems of individuals with OCD can be said to be effective. Several previous studies have used this approach in treating cases of individuals with OCD. This is because this approach can change the client's mindset or view of individuals with OCD from irrational in the form of repetitive behavior with obsessions and compulsions to rational. Apart from that, he is also able to express and develop the feelings he has, what he thinks and the behavior he carries out to be better than before.

Abstract

This study aims to test the application of narrative counseling to reduce students' communication anxiety. The counseling process consists of 3 stages, namely externalization of problems, Mapping the influence of problems in a person's life and Mapping the influence of a person's life on the development of problems. This study used a pre-test post-test one group design. The subjects of this study were 5 students who experienced high communication anxiety. Data analysis of this study used non-parametric statistics of the sign test and IMCS. The results of the data analysis showed that ρ = 0.031 was smaller than α = 0.05. Thus H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted, so the accepted hypothesis was that there was a decrease in communication anxiety scores in junior high school students after narrative counseling was given. While the results of the IMCS analysis showed the emergence of different actions, reflections, protests, reconceptualizations and changes before the narrative counseling intervention. This means that the application of narrative counseling can reduce communication anxiety in junior high school students.

Abstract

In the face of the substantial impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, Industry 4.0 has expedited innovation in several industries, including education. The objective of this study is to investigate the impact of intrinsic and extrinsic influences on the job satisfaction of counselors by applying Herzberg's dual factor theory. The employed methodology is a systematic literature review, encompassing the stages of identification, screening, eligibility, data abstraction, and analysis. This study examined scholarly papers published between 2019 and 2023, with a specific focus on school counselors and the field of guidance education. After applying rigorous inclusion and exclusion criteria, the selection procedure yielded 10 pertinent articles out of 378 discovered documents. The study findings suggest that motivating circumstances, such as professional recognition, achievement, and development possibilities, have a substantial impact on the job satisfaction of counselors. By contrast, job discontent and burnout are linked to hygienic variables such as an excessive workload and insufficient institutional assistance. The present study highlights the necessity of achieving a harmonious equilibrium between motivators and hygienic elements in order to enhance the psychological well-being and job satisfaction of counselors. The results of this study offer valuable perspectives for the formulation of policies and implementation of strategies that promote the well-being of counselors in educational environments.

Abstract

Psychological assessment for students is one of the activities that cannot be separated from counseling services. Psychological attributes obtained from the implementation of the assessment can be used by school counselors to intervene and develop counseling programs. However, conditions in the field indicate that school counselors still have not carried out a comprehensive assessment of the condition of students, so this has an impact on the effectiveness of counseling services. This research and community service aims to provide training and skills for school counselors in conducting psychological assessments using an Android application called Potential. The urgency of using this application has increased since the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, where students and school counselors cannot meet face-to-face. This community service is carried out in stages in a series of workshops and independent training. School counselors are provided with a Potential account that can be used at their school. The results of community service activities show that students' psychological conditions are generally mapped through applications and assist school counselors in planning and developing effective programs.
