Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the application of Transactional Analysis in the context of group counseling. Transactional Analysis, developed by Eric Berne, is a psychological theory that examines social interactions to understand and improve interpersonal communication. In group counseling, transactional analysis is used to help group members recognize and change unhealthy or dysfunctional interaction patterns. This approach identifies three main aspects of a person’s ego: Parent, Adult, and Child, and how each of these aspects influences behavior and communication. This article reviews transactional analysis techniques such as therapeutic contracts, structural analysis, transactional analysis, life script analysis, and psychological games that often emerge in group interactions. Using case studies and practical application examples, this article demonstrates how transactional analysis can improve self-awareness, communication skills, and overall group dynamics. The results suggest that the use of transactional analysis in group counseling not only helps individuals address personal issues but also improves group effectiveness through a deeper understanding of the interactions and motivations behind behavior.

Abstract

Reality counseling approach, reality counseling is self-regulation, and the impact of broken home families on students. It is an approach that focuses on the present and guides the counselee to face the reality of his life. The goal is to facilitate the counselee to achieve autonomy by taking responsibility for their decisions and actions. Techniques used include role-playing, humor, therapeutic confrontation, creation of a change plan, and affirmation of counseling boundaries. Self-regulation refers to the ability to manage thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to achieve desired goals. It involves the process of setting standards, conducting self-observation and evaluation, adjusting reactions to oneself, and conducting regular self-reflection. Self-regulation helps to increase students' independence, manage emotions, improve concentration, and build resilience and adaptability in different situations. A broken home family is a situation where there is disharmony between parents, which can be due to divorce, death of one of the parents, or other problems. The impact on students includes academic problems, behavior, sexual problems, and a greater need for emotional support. Counselors play an important role in helping students from broken homes to overcome their emotional challenges, build safe relationships, and provide the necessary support for self-regulation.

Long Distance Relationships (LDR) often face challenges in maintaining effective communication quality. The communication that occurs in couples who are in a long distance relationship has a relatively rare intensity of meetings with their partner, because low intensity often causes problems in their relationship. This research aims to explore the effectiveness of Transactional Analysis in overcoming communication problems in LDR couples. The method used includes a literature review related to the topic to be studied. The research results provide knowledge about the application of Transactional Analysis in helping create ideal communication for LDR couples. These findings provide practical insight for LDR couples and serve as a reference for counselors and psychology practitioners in designing interventions that support healthy communication in long-distance relationships.

Abstract

Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) often experience difficulties in the school environment, especially in terms of concentration, hyperactive behavior and impulsivity. Although most children with ADHD are still served in regular classes, this can hinder students' development, both academically and socially. To support student development, a guidance and counseling approach based on collaboration between teachers, counselors and parents is very important. One intervention that has been proven effective is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which can help ADHD children manage anxiety and impulsive behavior. This research uses a literature review method to explore the application of CBT in managing anxiety in ADHD students, with an analysis of various relevant studies. The research results show that CBT is effective in helping ADHD children overcome the difficulties students face at school and in social interactions, as well as supporting better development. Researchers emphasize the importance of collaboration between educators and counseling personnel to create a supportive environment for children with ADHD.

Abstract

Transactional analysis (AT) is one type of transactional therapy that can be used in individual therapy. However, it differs from other AT therapies in that it is more suitable for group therapy. Mainly because it is a conventional and optional treatment. Relationship is the connection between one person and another. The factors evaluated include communication and content. In this recovery, the relationship between client and consultant is viewed as a transaction (interaction, work, research), where each participant engages the other as a function of some goal.

Abstract

Learning independence is the ability of students to learn independently, seeking information other than that provided by the teacher. However, many students are still found to be not independent in learning where students are still dependent on others, are not confident, have no enthusiasm and are not disciplined in learning. The behavior displayed because students are not yet independent requires the role of guidance and counseling teachers in overcoming this, namely by providing behavioral counseling. Behavioral counseling is the process of helping students solve interpersonal, emotional and decision-making problems, especially in learning independence. This counseling helps students in directing, planning, organizing and managing and controlling themselves in carrying out an activity, especially in learning, so that students can use their time as efficiently and effectively as possible. Therefore, researchers are interested in conducting a literature review on behavioristic counseling to improve learning independence in students. The literature review conducted by researchers used publications from 2019-2024 which can be accessed in full text in pdf format and scholarly (peer reviewed journals) using google schoolar in the Mendelay application, so that 7 articles were found that had been screened according to the discussion of the article raised.
