Abstract

Environmental Quality in Indonesia faces major challenges due to the worsening phenomenon of environmental degradation, driven by rapid population growth, uncontrolled urbanization, and intense economic expansion. Air quality in many regions is declining along with increasing industrial activities, energy consumption, and excessive use of natural resources. This study analyzes the impact of Islamic Financial Development (IFD), economic growth (GDP), poverty rate (POV), and population (POP) on environmental quality, with a focus on air quality. By adopting the Panel Vector Error Correction Model (PVECM) method. Panel data from 34 provinces in Indonesia was comprehensively analyzed to understand short- and long-term dynamics. The results show that IFD contributes positively to environmental quality in the long term through the financing of sustainable projects, while GDP exerts negative pressure in the short term but turns positive in the long term in regions with strong environmental policies. Poverty reductions significantly improve environmental quality in the long term, while population growth consistently puts negative pressure on air quality. This study emphasizes the importance of effective environmental policies and investments in green technologies that are not only focused on urban centers, but also applied evenly throughout the country to ensure the sustainability of environmental quality throughout Indonesia.

Abstract

Carbon emissions are one of the main causes of global climate change. High carbon emissions can hinder long-term economic growth. The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of Trade Openness, Energy Consumption, and Economic Growth variables on CO2 Emissions in D-8 countries (Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey) during the period of 1992 to 2021 using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) panel model. The results of the study indicate that Economic Growth in D-8 countries has a positive long-term effect on CO2 Emissions but has no short-term effect. The Energy Consumption variable has a short-term effect on CO2 Emissions. However, Trade Openness does not have a short-term or long-term effect on CO2 Emissions. Therefore, it is expected that D-8 countries pay attention to policies that encourage investment in renewable energy, incentives for energy efficiency, and regulations that reduce emissions from specific sectors, which can help achieve sustainable and low-carbon economic growth.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Bali cattle are one of the most prominent local cattle breeds widely raised by the people of Indonesia. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the semen quality of Bali cattle produced during the dry and rainy seasons at the South Sulawesi Regional Artificial Insemination Centre (RAIC). Methods: The data of this study were obtained from secondary data from the production records taken by purposive sampling of 5 Bali bulls for 12 months, categorized into the rainy season (May - October 2019) and the dry season (November 2019 - April 2020). The study parameters included semen volume (ml), sperm concentration (10 × 10⁶/ml), sperm motility (%), and post-thawing motility (%). Results: The results indicated that semen volume was not significantly affected by seasonality (P > 0.05). However, sperm concentration, sperm motility, and post-thawing motility were significantly higher during the dry season than in the rainy season (P < 0.05). It can be concluded that the quality of Bali bull semen is superior during the dry season compared to the rainy season. Conclusion: The findings of this study can be applied to the management of Bali cattle breeding, particularly in organizing semen collection schedules and improving reproductive quality through the management of environmental factors and feed.

Abstract

In an effort to achieve sustainable development, Islamic philanthropy through Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah (ZIS) plays an important role in reducing poverty and improving socio-economic welfare. This study aims to analyze the role of Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah (ZIS) as an instrument of Islamic philanthropy on poverty, income inequality, human development index and purchasing power in Indonesia in the long and short term. The data analysis techniques used in this study are in the form of Two-Way Fixed Effect Models-GMM for short-term testing and Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) for long-term. The results show that ZIS has a significant negative influence on poverty, income inequality, and HDI, both in the short and long term, indicating that ZIS distribution can help reduce social inequality and improve people's quality of life. In addition, ZIS has been shown to have a positive impact on people's purchasing power, which shows that the assistance provided can increase the economic capacity of individuals. This study suggests that governments and Islamic philanthropic institutions, such as BAZNAS, strengthen the management and distribution of ZIS with a focus on economic empowerment to maximize its impact on sustainable development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Hikayat Aceh as a medium for preserving and advancing local Acehnese culture. Hikayat Aceh is a classic literary work that contains historical, religious, social, and customary values of the Acehnese people during the heyday of the Aceh Sultanate. Through a qualitative approach with literature study and content analysis methods, this study found that Hikayat Aceh plays an important role in documenting the cultural identity of the Acehnese people, including language, value systems, leadership, and local traditions. In addition, this saga also has great potential in character education, especially in instilling religious values, leadership, patriotism, and social ethics in the younger generation. However, the preservation of this saga faces various challenges such as low interest in reading classical literature, lack of integration in the education curriculum, and minimal digitization of manuscripts. Therefore, collaborative efforts are needed between the government, academics, and the community to revive the role of Hikayat Aceh as a source of living culture that is able to answer the challenges of the times while strengthening local cultural identity.
