Abstract

This research aims to compare the geometric patterns in Passura Toraya and Escher’s Tessalation. The study examines Toraja ornaments created 5.000 years ago from a geometric perspective that is similar to the approach of well-known geometric artist, M. Escher. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative method by collecting data from literature studies and visual observations of Passura Toraya, which are then analyzed using geometrical pattern and basic mathematic shapes. The results of the study show that (1) triangle, square, pentagon, flora, and fauna shapes represent geometric forms with similar tessellation techniques in both Passura Toraya and M.C. Escher's geometric patterns; (2) Passura Toraya has repeated patterns in opposite directions and four sides, as well as 4-fold designs, similar to M.C. Escher's tessellated geometric patterns with the same size as the empty field and 3-fold repetition levels; (3) contrasting colors are characteristic of Passura Toraya, similar to M.C. Escher's designs. Passura Toraya, which was made approximately thousands of years ago, shows the same approach as geometric artist, M. Escher. This demonstrates that Passura Toraya was made with a high level of knowledge, despite being made approximately 5.000 years ago.

Abstract

This article discusses the interaction between Western educational philosophy and Eastern cultural values ​​in the context of character building for students. By identifying key elements from both educational traditions, this study aims to find common ground that can enrich the educational process in Indonesia. Library methods are used in this study to review the literature from Western educational philosophy and Eastern cultural values ​​to shape the character of students in Indonesia. This study identifies the main principles of both approaches, such as individualism and freedom from the West, and collectivism and social responsibility from the East, and analyzes their potential to complement each other. The result is a theoretical framework that combines both values, creating a holistic character education for students in Indonesia. The result of this work is that the integration of Western educational philosophy with Eastern cultural values ​​in Indonesia is important to form a generation with character and competence. Western philosophy emphasizes the development of individualism and critical thinking, while Eastern values ​​emphasize collectivism and social responsibility. Character education that includes morality and emotional intelligence helps students have integrity, empathy, and social harmony. This holistic educational approach prepares students for academic success while having a strong personality. Policy support and training for educators are needed to teach these values ​​effectively and relevantly.

Abstract

This study investigates how project-based and collaborative learning management is integrated into the Pancasila Student Profile at State Junior High School 8 Satap Alla, a remote public school in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The research aims to describe the implementation of integrated project-based and collaborative learning, identify the challenges encountered, and analyse its impact on students’ character formation. A qualitative descriptive case study design was employed, with data collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with teachers, school leaders and students, as well as document analysis of lesson plans and school policies. Data were analysed using thematic procedures involving data condensation, display and conclusion drawing. The findings show that project-based and collaborative learning has been institutionalised into a three-stage cycle of planning, implementation and evaluation–reflection, in which teachers design contextual projects, facilitate active group work and guide students’ reflective review of their learning processes. The implementation, however, faces interrelated challenges in teacher readiness, uneven student participation and limited facilities that require continuous adaptation of project design and classroom management. Despite these constraints, the integrated approach contributes positively to the development of key dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile, particularly collaboration (gotong royong), critical and creative thinking and learner independence, although these character outcomes are still emerging unevenly across different students and groups. The study concludes that sustained support for teacher professional development, student collaboration skills and school infrastructure is needed to optimise the transformative potential of project-based and collaborative learning in similar rural contexts.

Abstract

Sektor pertanian di Desa Balla, Kecamatan Bajo, merupakan pilar utama ekonomi masyarakat, namun pengelolaan data hasil panen padi masih dilakukan secara manual menggunakan buku catatan. Hal ini menyebabkan risiko kehilangan data, ketidakefisienan pelaporan, dan sulitnya pengambilan keputusan berbasis data oleh pemerintah desa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membangun Sistem Informasi Hasil Pertanian Padi berbasis web untuk mendigitalisasi manajemen data pertanian. Metode pengembangan sistem yang digunakan adalah metode Waterfall, meliputi tahap analisis, perancangan, implementasi, dan pengujian. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem ini mampu mengelola data petani, luas lahan, hasil panen, serta menyajikan statistik produksi secara real-time. Fitur asisten virtual (chatbot) juga diintegrasikan untuk memberikan informasi harga pasar dan tips pertanian bagi petani. Dengan adanya sistem ini, proses pendataan menjadi lebih akurat, transparan, dan dapat mendukung perencanaan ketahanan pangan di Desa Balla secara lebih efektif

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan citra sekolah serta menganalisis manajemen hubungan masyarakat (humas) dalam meningkatkan citra SMP Negeri 2 Towuti Kabupaten Luwu Timur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa citra sekolah dipersepsikan positif, tercermin pada kedisiplinan warga sekolah, religiusitas, ketertiban lingkungan, peningkatan prestasi siswa, serta keterlibatan sekolah dalam kegiatan sosial yang mempererat hubungan dengan masyarakat. Praktik manajemen humas berlangsung melalui tahapan perencanaan, pengorganisasian, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi yang dijalankan secara kolaboratif, sehingga komunikasi dengan orang tua dan masyarakat lebih terbuka serta dukungan publik terhadap program sekolah semakin menguat. Kesimpulan penelitian menegaskan bahwa manajemen humas berkontribusi nyata dalam menjaga dan meningkatkan citra sekolah, sementara penguatan fasilitas pendukung prestasi dan pengelolaan kanal komunikasi digital sekolah masih diperlukan agar publikasi kegiatan dan capaian sekolah menjangkau masyarakat lebih luas serta citra positif sekolah terbentuk lebih konsisten dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This research delves into the crucial role of Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah (ZIS) in alleviating multidimensional poverty and enhancing economic growth across Java's provinces in Indonesia during the period from 2013 to 2022. Utilizing the Panel Vector Error Correction Model (PVECM), the study explores the causal relationships between ZIS and key socio-economic indicators, including Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), multidimensional poverty indices, and overall economic growth. The results indicate that ZIS significantly reduces poverty, as evidenced by its negative impact on the percentage of the poor population (P0), the poverty depth index (P1), and the poverty severity index (P2). In addition to its effectiveness in poverty alleviation, ZIS also exerts a positive and significant influence on economic growth, highlighting its dual role as both a redistributive mechanism and an economic catalyst. These findings suggest that, when effectively managed, ZIS can play a vital role in addressing both immediate social needs and long-term economic development goals. The study underscores the importance of optimizing ZIS management to maximize its impact on poverty reduction and economic sustainability. Moreover, the research suggests that targeted and productive use of ZIS can lead to more inclusive economic growth, benefitting a broader segment of society. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on the economic and social impacts of ZIS, providing empirical evidence of its potential to drive meaningful change in Indonesia's socio-economic landscape.

Abstract

Recognizing number symbols in early childhood is challenging because their abstract nature does not align with the child's concrete thinking stage. Conventional methods, such as flashcards, have proven less effective because they rely solely on memorization. This study aims to test the influence of Media Puzzle Mix and Match Multiple Number Representation on children's ability to recognize number symbols in the 5-6-year age range. This research method uses a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design involving 16 children at Al-Ikhsan Kindergarten. The experimental group consisted of 8 children using a puzzle media with six number representations, while the control group consisted of 8 children using conventional flashcards. Results: Data analysis showed a significant increase (p < 0.05) in the experimental group, with an average increase of 22.25% compared with the control group, which was only 5.75%. The conclusion of the Media Puzzle Mix-and-Match Multiple Number Representation is efficacious in improving the ability to recognize number symbols through a multisensory approach aligned with constructivist and dual-coding theories.
