Abstract

Malnutrition among children under five remains a significant public health issue in Pekalongan City, affecting their growth, development, and long-term quality of life. In response, the local government has implemented a Supplementary Feeding Program (PMT) using locally sourced, high-nutrient food ingredients that are affordable and accessible. This study aims to analyze the implementation of local food-based PMT and its impact on improving the nutritional status of malnourished children under five. Employing a mixed methods approach, the study combined quantitative research using a case control design with qualitative data from in-depth interviews. A total of 280 malnourished children were selected through purposive sampling. Key variables measured included nutritional status (based on weight-for-age) and the type and frequency of PMT provided. Data were collected via anthropometric assessments and direct observation, and analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The findings revealed a statistically significant improvement in the nutritional status of the children following a 30-day local food-based PMT intervention (p < 0.05). The PMT menus—featuring ingredients such as tempeh, eggs, sweet potatoes, and local vegetables—were shown to meet daily energy and macronutrient requirements. The study concludes that local food-based PMT is an effective, sustainable strategy to address childhood malnutrition and can serve as a model for community-based nutrition interventions.

Abstract

Access to clean water is still a crucial problem in Hobong Village, Sentani District, Jayapura, which has an impact on the high number of water-related diseases. Initial observations show that 78% of people in this area still use Lake Sentani water without adequate treatment, even though studies show that the quality of the lake water has decreased due to pollution. This community service program aims to improve community knowledge and skills in clean water treatment through a simple filtration system. The methods used include community education in the form of socialization of the importance of clean water, diffusion of science and technology through the creation of filtration system prototypes, training in filter creation and maintenance, mediation between stakeholders, and advocacy for clean water policies. The results of the program showed an increase in community knowledge of up to 100%, with the highest increase in the aspect of filtration system maintenance (182.1%). The filtration system developed effectively reduced E. coli (97.9%), Total Coliform (93.3%), turbidity (84.4%), and color (82.9%). This program also succeeded in forming a Clean Water Care Community Group, encouraging the ratification of Village Regulations on Clean Water Management, and obtaining village fund allocations for the development of filtration systems. A 61.7% reduction in diarrhea cases in the 3-month post-program period proves that a comprehensive approach to providing clean water can have a significant impact on public health in remote areas.

Abstract

Abstract

The dichotomy of knowledge between general science and religious knowledge causes alumni at Islamic educational institutions to experience split personalities. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a curriculum that integrates general science and religious knowledge as a whole. This study examines the implementation of the integrated curriculum at SMP Muhammadiyah Plus Klaten. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research identifies how an integrated curriculum can unify the national curriculum, the Ministry of Religious Affairs curriculum, and the pesantren curriculum. Data was collected through interviews, observation and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles & Huberman model of interactive inductive data analysis techniques. The research results show that the implementation of the integrated curriculum includes integration of aspects of objectives, materials, methods and learning evaluation. The integration of these four aspects of the curriculum seeks to improve the quality of education and form holistic and integrative personalities in students. Despite challenges such as integrating different disciplines, these are mitigated through teacher training and collaboration with parents. The results offer a potential framework for other educational institutions to implement integrated curricula.

Abstract

The main issue in vocational education is ensuring that the implemented curriculum enhances graduates' competencies in line with industry demands. At SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Moyudan, the primary challenge is aligning the curriculum with the hospitality industry’s needs to ensure graduates acquire relevant skills. This study aims to analyze vocational curriculum management in improving student competencies in the hospitality expertise program. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method, collecting data through interviews with the vice principal of curriculum, the head of the expertise program, teachers, and students, as well as curriculum document analysis. The findings indicate that curriculum management at this school involves planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation tailored to industry needs. The curriculum is designed in collaboration with businesses and industries (DUDI) to ensure the relevance of learning materials to labor market demands. Practical-based learning, such as Field Work Practices (PKL) and competency certification through LSP P1, equips students with the necessary technical skills and soft skills. Evaluation is conducted both formatively and summatively to assess student progress. This study confirms that implementing curriculum management based on industry collaboration contributes to producing competent graduates. The study recommends strengthening cooperation with the hospitality industry, particularly in aspects related to the application of information technology to support learning and competency certification.

The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data analysis, and drawing conclusion. The purpose of this study is to analyze the scholarship distribution strategy, inhibiting and supporting factors and provide suggestions in conducting data collection. The results of this study indicated that Lazismu Bantul City strategy in distributing scholarships began the process by registering prospective recipients from AUM SD and SMP in PCM (Muhammadiyah branch leadership) Bantul, as well as collecting information from PRA and the community. However, the implementation of scholarship distribution had experienced obstacles, which has caused the distribution to be less effective.   Keywords: Distribution; Education; Strategy; Scholarships
