Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to reveal the use of word-chain games as a strategy in teaching Arabic spaking skill (maharah al-kalam) . This study used a qualitative approach where data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The qualitative analysis methodologies of Miles and Huberman were used for this study. Qualitative analysis consists of three steps after data collection: data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing or verification. Based on the results, maharah al-kalam learning using word chain games has an impact on the quality of the process, as evidenced by increased results. Students become more active, and their motivation increases. Improving the quality of the learning process is evidenced by the active participation of students in responding to teacher statements as well as their enthusiasm in perfecting sentences spoken by other groups. Learning outcomes are getting better, but fluency and memorization of vocabulary cannot be improved using the word chain game. According to observers and practitioners of Arabic language education, word chains have an impact on teaching speaking skills; therefore, it is important to explain their use in Ilamic Junior High School (Madrasah Tsanawiyah).

Abstract

This study aims to deconstruct and conduct an in-depth analysis of the pedagogical structure of the classical text Al-Ajrumiyyah through the lens of David Ausubel’s Meaningful Learning theory. In the context of Arabic language education in Indonesia, the primary challenges are low knowledge retention and the failure to functionally apply grammatical rules in real communication issues often stemming from the dominance of rote learning methods. Utilizing a library research approach with content analysis techniques, this study explores how the systematics of the 25 chapters in Al-Ajrumiyyah reflect cognitive principles such as advance organizers, progressive differentiation, integrative reconciliation, and subsumption. The results indicate that this text is not merely a grammatical summary, but a cognitive instrument deductively structured to facilitate the stable assimilation of new information into the student's existing knowledge structure. These findings suggest that integrating meaningful learning values into the teaching of Kitab Kuning can transform the effectiveness of Arabic education, address student heterogeneity, and align Pesantren traditions with modern curricular demands. The implications of this research emphasize the need for a methodological reorientation among Arabic educators to prioritize conceptual interconnectedness over the mere accumulation of verbal information

Abstract

The use of social media as a communication medium is not limited. In the era of technological development with the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, social media is also used to access information about spiritual issues. This study aims to explore the use of social media as a religious learning solution for the millennial generation in the era of the spread of Covid-19. This study adopts a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method to the millennial generation's tendency to use social media. Data collection uses observation, interviews, and analysis studies of da’wah accounts on social media. The data analysis technique uses the theory of Miles and Huberman, namely collecting data, reducing, and presenting. Data validation uses data triangulation and data sources. This study shows that the millennial generation filters da’wah accounts on social media based on their understanding (manhaj). This research needs to be followed up by mapping the concept of da’wah through social media which is relevant for the millennial generation in Indonesia.

Abstract

Social, cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity is an inseparable reality of Indonesian society. Within this context, education faces the challenge of not only producing learners who excel academically but also fostering individuals with tolerant, just, and civilized character. Multicultural education is regarded as a strategic and relevant approach to strengthening character education, as it positions respect for diversity as an integral component of the learning process. Nevertheless, comprehensive theoretical studies that systematically examine the conceptual, theoretical, and methodological relationships between multicultural education and character education remain limited and require further exploration. This study aims to examine and analyze the concepts, theoretical foundations, and approaches of multicultural education in relation to the strengthening of character education. This research employs a qualitative approach in the form of library research. Data were obtained from various scholarly sources, including textbooks, national and international journal articles, conference proceedings, and relevant educational policy documents. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, and was further strengthened through source triangulation to ensure data validity. The findings indicate that multicultural education plays a fundamental role in strengthening character education, particularly in cultivating values such as tolerance, empathy, justice, responsibility, and mutual respect. Theoretically, multicultural education and character education are complementary and cannot be separated from the social and cultural contexts in which learners live and interact. The implementation of multicultural education through inclusive, dialogical, and equitable learning approaches has been shown to create a conducive educational environment for character development. The integration of multicultural education and character education thus constitutes a strategic approach to developing a generation with strong character, social awareness, and the capacity to live harmoniously within a multicultural society.

Abstract

Many learning institutions and organizations are currently faced with the acute burden of trying to forecast the academic performance of their students. This paper reflects the application of machine learning tools to discuss the potential and performance of students in Islamic Studies. The framework suggested in this paper, will start with the acquisition of the historical data of the students in the input dataset. First, the forward selection wrapper method is used to select the most meaningful features thus eliminating the redundant qualities in the set of student data. Three types of classifiers are then used to create a classification model based on fuzzy support vector machines (SVM), K-nearest neighbors (K-NN), and Naive Bayes. In such a methodological approach, academic performance is predicted and results measured according to certain criteria. According to results of the experiment, it is noted that feature selection-fuzzy support vector machine (FS-fuzzy SVM) has an excellent accuracy of 99.9% with a sensitivity of 98.50% and a specificity of 98.50% and it is therefore seen to be more effective in predicting the academic performance of students in Islamic Studies.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to identify the causes of the failure to internalize Islamic values in mosque youth that cause a gap between ritual and social piety. The focus is on community factors that influence the social behavior of the young generation in the context of achieving the SDGs. Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework refers to the concepts of internalization of religious values, Islamic social piety, and experiential learning from the perspective of continuing education. This approach emphasizes the integration of spiritual and social dimensions in behavior formation. Literature review: Previous studies have shown the role of religious institutions in moral formation, but there is still a gap between religious practice and social behavior. The perspective of adolescents as the main subject of value internalization is still rarely studied. Methods: The research used a phenomenological qualitative approach with the location of the Al-Muzakkirin Mosque in Padang. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and FGDs, and then analyzed thematically by triangulation. Results: Five factors were found to cause failure, namely material dichotomy, ineffective lecture methods, exemplary inconsistencies, peer group pressure, and lack of social action. Adolescents experience a mismatch between religious knowledge and social practices. Implications: The findings encourage the development of contextual, participatory, and social experience-based mosque youth coaching. This model supports the implementation of continuing education and strengthening community partnerships. Novelty: Novelty lies in the exploration of adolescent perspectives that were often overlooked in previous studies. The research also produced an "Experience-Based Social Piety" da'wah model based on experience and social action.

Abstract

The research question addressed in this study is: Does the peer lesson strategy influence the learning of nahwu (Arabic grammar) in the eighth-grade class at Pondok Pesantren Tarbiyah Islamiyah Kamang Mudik, Agam? This study aims to assess students' abilities in learning nahwu prior to the implementation of the peer lesson strategy, to explain the strategy's implementation, and to evaluate its impact on improving learning outcomes. This research employs a quantitative field method using a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design model. Data collection methods include observation, testing, and documentation. Hypothesis testing was conducted using SPSS version 26. The first finding reveals that students’ initial nahwu skills were weak (da'if), with average scores of 51.76 in the control group and 48.23 in the experimental group. The second finding shows that the peer lesson strategy was implemented in three phases: introduction, main activity, and conclusion—with a good overall rating. After the strategy was applied, the control group’s average increased to 61.17 (still da'if), while the experimental group’s average rose significantly to 81.76, rated as good. Hypothesis testing yielded a value of 11.191 with a 2-tailed significance level of 0.05, indicating a statistically significant effect of the peer lesson strategy on nahwu learning.
