Abstract

The development of environmental values and pro-environmental behavior must begin from an early age, particularly within primary education. Schools, therefore, have a strategic role in shaping sustainable habits through educational interventions. This study aims to assess the need for educational programs that integrate green activities and to evaluate teachers’ and principals’ understanding of green consumer behavior. Using an Ex Post Facto research design and purposive sampling, data were collected from 32 fifth-grade teachers and 32 public primary school principals in Bandung, Indonesia. A validated Guttman-scale questionnaire was used, and data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods. The results showed that all respondents recognized the importance of implementing green activities and instilling green consumer behavior. The gap between conceptual understanding and classroom practice—particularly among teachers—indicates a need for more targeted capacity-building. This study highlights the importance of developing integrated, project-based, and contextually relevant learning models to promote environmental literacy and responsible consumption, contributing to the broader goals of environmental education and character development.

Abstract

The education curriculum in Indonesia has undergone eleven revisions since independence, which is often not matched by adequate preparedness of educators and education infrastructure. This research aims to explore the meaning of the curriculum in depth from historical and contemporary perspectives, as well as compare curricula from various periods to provide a comprehensive understanding. The research method used is a qualitative approach through literature study and content analysis of scientific journals, textbooks, official government documents, and other relevant articles and publications. The results show that the curriculum in Indonesia continues to develop and adapt to social and technological changes. The 1947 curriculum emphasized national values and life skills, the 1952 curriculum focused on the relevance of the material to daily life, while the subsequent curriculum continued to adapt to the times. Curriculum implementation faces various challenges, including disparities in the quality of education between urban and rural areas and teachers' lack of preparation for curriculum changes. This research highlights the importance of a curriculum that is relevant to the needs of society and technological developments so that graduates can compete at the global level. The curriculum should be able to shape students' characters and prepare them for future challenges, with an emphasis on character and competency development.

Abstract

Learning models appearing in the classroom are psychologically far from students’ daily lives, despite the fact that there are numerous traditions available to students that might form the basis for the development of a learning model. This study was intended to produce a model of Project Based Learning (PBL) based on Batobo. The Batobo tradition performed by Kuantan Singingi people in Riau is a tradition of working together on an agricultural land. This study used research and development (R&D) proposed by Borg and Gall stages to develop the tradition based learning model. The data collection technique started from conducting a literature review, interviewing groups or community leaders and designing models. The results of the research revealed that Batobo based Project Based Learning model was conducted in five stages in learning included the initiation (manyamulo), followed by project planning (mancangkul/manugal), project implementation (mananam), discussion (manuai) and the last stage was evaluation (closing). The Batobo based Project Based Learning model described the learning activities carried out by referring to the Batobo tradition. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the PBL model based on the batobo tradition which consists of five stages of learning developed is suitable for use in elementary schools.

Abstract

Pembelajaran berbasis proyek dan profil pelajar pancasila merupakan komponen utama dalam kurikulum merdeka. Nilai karakter bernalar kritis sesuai dengan pembelajaran pada abad ke 21. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami perspektif guru dalam mengimplementasikan pembelajaran berbasis proyek dengan profil pelajar pancasila nilai karakter bernalar kritis. Metode kualitatif menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus. Partisipannya adalah guru kelas 5 sekolah dasar (SD) di Lubuklinggau. Guru diberikan kuesioner, diikuti dengan wawancara. Peneliti menggunakan data collection sebagai alat utama. Sebagai sumber daya pendukung, peneliti menggunakan wawancara, catatan lapangan, dan studi dokumentasi. Temuan menunjukkan proyek yang terdapat pembelajaran IPAS pada kurikulum merdeka sangat banyak dan tidak relevan dengan jumlah jam pelajaran yang tersedia. Kesimpulan dalam studi ini adalah Semua stakeholder harus berkolaborasi untuk memahami, merencanakan, melaksanakan, mengevaluasi, dan menindaklanjuti pembelajaran proyek dengan nilai karakter bernalar kritis.  Kendala mengimplementasikan proyek dengan profil bernalar kritis harus disadari semua pemangku kepentingan untuk berkolaborasi untuk memahami, merencanakan, melaksanakan, mengevaluasi, dan menindaklanjuti pembelajaran proyek dengan profil pelajar pancasila nilai karakter bernalar kritis.

Abstract

Civic education becomes a curriculum with the aim of forming good, intelligent citizens as well as value education. One of the roles of civic education is through community civics. Community Civics has a character that is not value-free, specifically in the context of the community can encourage young citizens as pioneers of national independence. Community Civic is through community organisations. The role of community organisations (CSOs) is necessary because it can help maintain the sovereignty of the country as a whole. The community organisation that plays a role in maintaining national values is Nahdlatul Ulama (NU). The presence of community organisations is present because Indonesia's problems now lead to an order that is not in line with the values of life in citizens and the presence of community organisations is expected to help maintain the sovereignty of the country as a whole. Community organisations can be relevant to Community Civic Education which aims to form citizens who are proud of their own nation. This research method is discussed from an ethnographic point of view in order to analyse a group along with the behaviour in their daily lives. The results of the concept of transformation of the value of Civic Education in the form of national values that can be actualised in the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) organisation are 5 of them: Reform Value, Balance Value, Tolerance Value, Good Citizen Value and Moderate Thinking Value.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi integrasi nilai-nilai budaya masyarakat Moi dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan (PKn) sebagai strategi untuk memperkuat toleransi mahasiswa. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode survei, penelitian ini melibatkan mahasiswa, dosen, dan tokoh adat sebagai informan utama. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan observasi langsung terhadap penerapan nilai-nilai budaya Moi dalam proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi nilai-nilai budaya Moi, seperti solidaritas, kebersamaan, dan saling menghormati, secara signifikan meningkatkan sikap toleransi mahasiswa serta memperkuat solidaritas sosial dan identitas budaya mereka. Selain itu, lingkungan pembelajaran berbasis budaya lokal memberikan mahasiswa keterampilan berpikir kritis dan pemahaman lebih mendalam tentang keberagaman dalam konteks akademik dan sosial. Studi ini menegaskan pentingnya dukungan dari pemangku kepentingan, termasuk institusi pendidikan, pemerintah, dan masyarakat adat, untuk memastikan implementasi pendidikan berbasis budaya yang lebih luas dan berkelanjutan. Implikasi penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan berbasis nilai-nilai budaya lokal tidak hanya dapat diterapkan di masyarakat Moi tetapi juga berpotensi diadopsi dalam berbagai konteks pendidikan lainnya di Indonesia guna membangun masyarakat yang lebih inklusif dan harmonis.

Abstract

Technological advancements have transformed the learning landscape for students in schools. Unlike the past, where discussions were confined to the classroom, today's students engage in digital discussions through platforms like Zoom Meetings, Google Classroom, or school-provided eLearning. The impact of technology on students is twofold, presenting both positive and negative aspects. In an effort to enhance student learning and character development, researchers have created a non-text digital book on citizenship education. Utilizing Borg and Gall's research methodology, data collection involved questionnaires, focus group discussions, interviews, and observations. The research findings demonstrate the viability of digital non-text civics education books, indicating their applicability in junior high schools to bolster students' hard-working character. Significant differences in the aspect of hard work were observed between the experimental and control groups in various tests. In conclusion, digital books with the theme ”Rumi Sang Pemimpi” (in English: ”Rumi the Dreamer”) prove effective in strengthening students' character, particularly their hard-working traits. The researcher recommends further exploration of characters in the digital book related to digital citizenship.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on improving fifth-grade students’ geographic literacy skills. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test control group design. Participants were 60 fifth-grade students from two public elementary schools in West Java, Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling. The experimental group (n = 30) received PBL intervention, while the control group (n = 30) was taught through Discovery Learning. Data were collected using a geographic literacy test that was previously tested for validity and reliability. The intervention was implemented over nine meetings, each lasting 90 minutes. The data were analysed using normality and homogeneity tests, paired t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The results show a significant improvement in geographic literacy in the experimental class (p < 0.05), with a mean N-Gain of 72.6% (quite effective), while the control class scored 35.3% (ineffective). Furthermore, the post-test mean score of the experimental group (79.17) was significantly higher than that of the control group (68.67). The study concludes that the PBL model is more effective than Discovery Learning in enhancing geographic literacy skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and develop the Value Clarification Technique of Law (VCTL) learning model to strengthen high school students’ understanding of digital rights and responsibilities in Padang City. While students have the freedom to access internet technology, they are also expected to use it responsibly and respect the rights of others in digital spaces. The development of the VCTL model was motivated by the growing concern over students’ unwise behavior in using the internet, highlighting the need for an educational approach that fosters ethical awareness and value-based decision-making. This research adopts a Research and Development (RD) methodology using the ADDIE model, which includes the phases of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The final product is a model book designed to assist teachers in implementing the VCTL approach in high school classrooms. The findings indicate that the VCTL model effectively enhances students’ digital responsibility by engaging them in structured value clarification processes anchored in legal and ethical considerations. The model encourages students to critically choose, clarify, and act upon values related to digital citizenship.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of green activity programs in shaping the pro-environmental consumer behavior of elementary school students. The program was implemented as part of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project within the independent curriculum framework. The study involved 71 fifth-grade students from three public elementary schools in Bandung: SDN 240 Cijerah Indah, SDN 099 Babakan Tarogong, and SDN 191 Babakan Surabaya. The program was conducted over four weeks and included waste sorting, composting, recycling, energy-saving campaigns, and vegetable planting. A one-group pretest-post-test pre-experimental design was used, and data were collected through a green consumer behavior questionnaire assessing five behavioral stages: product search, purchase, usage, evaluation, and disposal. Quantitative analysis using paired sample t-tests showed a statistically significant improvement in students’ behavior (p < 0.001), with an average increase in scores ranging from 15.45 to 22.74 points across schools. The N-Gain analysis revealed moderate learning gains, with values between 0.558 and 0.563. These findings confirm the effectiveness of green activity programs in fostering pro-environmental consumer behavior. The study recommends implementing similar programs in other schools and conducting further research to assess long-term behavioral impacts and contributing factors. This research has implications for developing environmental education strategies that cultivate sustainable habits from an early age.
