Abstract

An educational institution will be able to actualize democratic education in its school environment holistically as described by Zamroni (2011) must at least integrate three important elements in a school. The three elements are the structure, the culture of the school, and the educational process carried out by teachers. Previous literature studies show that the integration of the three elements has not been maximally actualized in educational institutions. This research will explain the actualization of democratic education through the reorientation of the democratic education process through the development of extracurricular activities of modern Islamic boarding school Assalaam Surakarta Indonesia. To achieve the research objectives, this study uses a qualitative approach with three data collection techniques: interviews, documentation, observations. The results of this study show that the actualization of democratic education in the boarding school environment through the development of extracurricular activities can be done by reorienting extracurricular activities. At least the reorientation process can be carried out in the early stages, namely, the use of extracurricular activities proportionately and professionally, to carry out the management of the extracurricular based on democratic values and develop extracurricular activities in a structured and planned manner to develop democratic values gradually and continuously.

Abstract

Objective: Adolescence is a transitional phase that is vulnerable to behavioral deviations, including Juvenile Delinquency, which is now a global and national social problem. In this context, Islamic education plays an essential role as a means of moral and spiritual development that can rehabilitate problematic adolescents. Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework of this article combines the principles of Islamic education that include faith, sharia, and morals with the concept of inclusive education in SDG 4 and the social reintegration approach as the basis for character development and rehabilitation of ex-juvenile delinquents through communities such as KOPIKA. Literature review: Previous research has confirmed that Islamic education effectively prevents juvenile delinquency by forming character, strengthening self-control, and instilling moral values that shield from negative environmental influences. Methods: This qualitative research is field research conducted to uncover the contribution of Islamic education at KOPIKA in fostering ex-juvenile Delinquency perpetrators. Results: The results of the study show that KOPIKA has various non-formal Islamic coaching programs, such as Bikers Subuhan, Mas Bro, Sini Ramal, Algojo, Sinabung Kopi, Punk-Ngaosan, Hijrah Camp, and Silatu Ride. These programs contribute to increasing worship, bringing members closer to the Qur'an, and shaping members' social identity and concern. This initiative is relevant to SDG 4 because it brings inclusive and transformative education to vulnerable groups through a contextual and sustainable approach. Implications: These findings have important implications for strengthening the role of non-formal Islamic education in the social rehabilitation of troubled adolescents, as well as encouraging the creation of an inclusive, transformative, and sustainable education ecosystem by SDG 4 targets. Novelty: This research offers novelty in examining the contribution of community-based Islamic education to the rehabilitation of troubled adolescents and its relevance to the achievement of SDG 4.

Abstract

The concept of adab in Islamic education plays a pivotal role in shaping the character and moral development of students. Adab, which encompasses ethics, morality, and spiritual values, goes beyond mere social politeness; it integrates character formation with intellectual and spiritual growth. This study explores the application of adab in both traditional and modern Islamic educational practices, emphasizing its significance in fostering a well-rounded individual. In traditional settings, such as pesantren and madrasahs, adab is deeply embedded in the learning process, with teachers serving as role models for both academic and moral values. However, modern education systems, often focused on academic achievement and technical skills, tend to overlook the importance of adab, resulting in a gap in character education. This research identifies the challenges of integrating adab into contemporary education, particularly in the face of technological advancements and the shifting priorities of global education systems. By proposing a more holistic approach, this study suggests that integrating adab into modern curricula can bridge the gap between intellectual competence and moral integrity, fostering individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also ethically responsible. The findings underscore the importance of revisiting adab in Islamic education to create a balanced educational framework that nurtures both the mind and the soul.

Abstract

This research aims to provide a systematic review of the application of deep learning technology in education and the challenges faced in its implementation. With the increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in education, especially in personalized learning, this research is important to understand the potential and barriers that affect the successful implementation of this technology. The main objective of this study is to identify the application of deep learning in education, evaluate the challenges faced, and assess its impact on the quality of learning in the formal and non-formal sectors. The method used is a systematic literature review by following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Relevant articles were selected from various academic databases published between 2020 and 2026. After screening, 13 articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed using narrative synthesis and thematic analysis approaches. The results show that deep learning can improve learning personalization, provide faster feedback, and increase student engagement. However, the main challenges faced are the limitations of technology infrastructure, unrepresentative data quality, and the difficulty of educators in integrating this technology. Issues related to data privacy and technology access gaps are also significant obstacles. This study recommends the need for policies that support more equitable access to technology, educator training, and increased transparency in the use of deep learning models.

Abstract

Contemporary Islamic education faces challenges in the form of a dichotomy between religious science and general science, weak character development, and the demand for adaptation to the development of science and technology. Muhammadiyah responds to these challenges through the concept of the Education Trilogy which emphasizes the integration of faith, knowledge, and charity as a paradigm of progressive Islamic education. This research aims to analyze the basic concept of the Muhammadiyah Education Trilogy, its form of integration in educational practices, and its differences with the paradigm of secular education and traditional Islamic education. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research. Data were obtained from academic books, national and international journal articles, as well as relevant scientific sources that discuss Islamic education, Muhammadiyah education, and contemporary education issues. Data analysis is carried out through content analysis techniques. The results of the study show that the trilogy of faith, science, and charity is a holistic foundation that forms a balance between the spiritual, intellectual, and social dimensions of students. Faith functions as the foundation of values and ethical orientation, science as a means of developing thinking capacity and mastery of science and technology, while charity is a real actualization of faith and science in the form of morals and social actions. Compared to secular education which tends to emphasize cognitive aspects and traditional education that is less responsive to the dynamics of the times, Muhammadiyah education offers an integrative, contextual, and transformative approach. Thus, the Muhammadiyah Education Trilogy has strong relevance as an Islamic education paradigm that is able to answer the challenges of modern education and encourage the realization of progressive Islamic civilization.

Abstract

This study intends to assess the transformation of digital-oriented Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning in the age of artificial intelligence at Muhammadiyah PK Kartasura High School including digital learning, impact on student interest and engagement, evaluation for IRE-digital-based learning and so forth, as well as the challenges currently faced by digital evaluation and its implications for character education and religiosity. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach and field research design. Data were obtained by observing the digital IRE teaching and learning process, conducting comprehensive interviews with IRE teachers, and documenting the learning media, digital platforms, and evaluation systems used at the school. The data were analyzed using descriptive interpretative techniques to understand learning practices, religious ethical considerations, and technical challenges in the application of artificial intelligence-based evaluation. The results of the study show that digital-based PAI learning through the use of Smart TVs, PowerPoint presentations, animated videos from YouTube, and creative assignments using the Canva application can encourage student interest, engagement, and participation in the learning process. However, digital-based PAI learning evaluation using the Scholar and E-Dumo applications has not consistently influenced students' academic achievement and character building due to technical limitations, system instability, and the limitations of digital platforms in assessing essay answers and the ethical dimensions of learning. This study provides empirical contributions regarding the transformation of digital-based PAI learning from a religious ethics perspective in the era of artificial intelligence and offers practical value for the development of PAI learning and evaluation that balances technological innovation with Islamic educational values.

Abstract

Usury is one of the fundamental issues in fiqh muamalah that has a broad impact on the economic life of individuals and society. The development of a modern economic system dominated by interest-based capitalism has made the practice of usury increasingly complex and structured, giving rise to diverse views among Islamic scholars and organizations. Hizbut Tahrir is an Islamic movement that takes a firm stance against usury, viewing it as a practice that is absolutely forbidden and an integral part of the capitalist economic system that contradicts Islamic teachings. This article aims to analyze Hizbut Tahrir's views on usury and its implications for fiqh muamalah education. This study uses a qualitative paradigm with a library research method. Primary data sources include the book Sistem Ekonomi Islam (Islamic Economic System) by Taqiyuddin an-Nabhani and Hizbut Tahrir's tsaqofah literature, while secondary data sources come from scientific journals and articles relevant to the theme of usury and fiqh muamalah education. Data collection techniques were carried out through searching, reading, and in-depth analysis of relevant texts. The results of the study show that Hizbut Tahrir views usury not only as a violation of muamalah law at the individual level, but also as a systemic problem that is the main pillar of the capitalist economy. Therefore, according to Hizbut Tahrir, the elimination of usury cannot be done partially, but requires the implementation of an Islamic economic system as a whole. This view has direct implications for fiqh muamalah education, which is directed not only at understanding transaction laws, but also at forming ideological awareness, critical attitudes towards modern economic practices, and understanding the relationship between muamalah law and the economic system. Fiqh muamalah education in the perspective of Hizbut Tahrir is positioned as an instrument for guiding individuals and society to reject usurious practices and encourage the realization of an Islamic economic system. Thus, this study confirms that Hizbut Tahrir's view of usury shapes the orientation of fiqh muamalah education to be normative, critical, and transformative.
