Abstract

This study examines the transformation of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia including pesantren, madrasah, and integrated Islamic schools in responding to the dynamics of modernity and the globalization of education. The background of this research stems from the need to understand how Islamic educational institutions can adapt to the demands of the digital era without abandoning the Islamic values that form their fundamental identity. The main objective of this study is to analyze the forms, directions, and implications of institutional transformation within Indonesia’s Islamic education through a qualitative, literature based approach employing an integrative literature review strategy. Data were collected from various scholarly sources, including reputable journals, academic books, and relevant research reports, and were analyzed thematically and narratively. The findings reveal that the transformation of Islamic education occurs across three major dimensions: institutional, curricular, and ideological values. Pesantren are experiencing modernization in management and curriculum, madrasah emphasize the integration of religious and general sciences, while integrated Islamic schools represent a new, holistic, and adaptive model of Islamic education. Collectively, these institutions demonstrate a synergistic pattern in shaping a more inclusive and competitive national Islamic education system. Theoretically, this study contributes to strengthening the integrative paradigm between faith, knowledge, and practice, while practically providing a conceptual foundation for developing Islamic education policies and strategies that are relevant to the challenges of the modern era.

Abstract

Introduction and development of children's potential at the elementary school level play a crucial role in shaping students' academic, social, emotional, and moral development. However, studies addressing the development of children's potential in primary education tend to focus more on measurable learning outcomes and formal assessments, while research on school strategies, particularly in the context of integrated Islamic elementary schools, remains relatively limited. This study aims to examine the strategies employed by integrated Islamic elementary schools in identifying and developing children's potential from an early age, as well as to identify the factors that support and hinder the implementation of these strategies. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design conducted at one of the integrated Islamic elementary schools in Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the school principal and class teachers, observation of learning activities, and analysis of school documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns and main themes related to the strategies for recognizing and developing children's potential. The findings of this study show that the school implements a holistic and sustainable approach to identifying children's potential through systematic observation, differentiated learning, and intensive communication with parents. The development of both academic and non academic potential is integrated into learning activities, extracurricular activities, and character-building practices that align with the values of integrated Islamic education. Teachers' commitment, school management support, and parental involvement are key supporting factors, while limited time and the diversity of students' characteristics present challenges in the implementation of these strategies. Theoretically, this research enriches the study of school strategies in developing children's potential in primary education. Practically, the findings of this study can serve as a reference for elementary schools, particularly integrated Islamic schools, in designing contextual and sustainable strategies for developing children's potential.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the Islamic paradigm of the essence of science, examine the concept of Islamic Knowledge in Kuntowijoyo's thought, and explain its relevance in the context of modern Islamic education. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive approach with the library research method, through a critical analysis of Kuntowijoyo's works and supporting literature related to Islamic epistemology and the integration of knowledge. The results of the study show that the Islamic paradigm is rooted in the principle of monotheism, which places revelation as the main source of truth and integrates reason ('aql), revelation (naql), and fitrah as the basis of Islamic epistemology. Kuntowijoyo through the concept of Islamic Knowledge offers an alternative paradigm to the Islamization of knowledge, by making Islamic values objective, rational, and applicable in the social realm. This concept is realized through Prophetic Social Science which is based on three main pillars: humanization, liberation, and transcendence. In the context of Islamic education, Islamic Scholarship has implications for the design of an integrative curriculum and learning methods between revelation and rationality, so as to be able to produce knowledgeable, moral, and prophetic awareness of kamil people. This research contributes to strengthening the integralistic scientific paradigm and provides practical direction for the development of holistic and transformative Islamic education.

Abstract

Abstract

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta Academic procrastination is a recurring issue among university students, including those enrolled in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) programs, and it negatively affects learning effectiveness and academic performance. This behavior is characterized by delaying the initiation, process, or completion of academic tasks despite being aware of the potential consequences. This study aims to identify and analyze intrinsic and extrinsic factors contributing to academic procrastination among PAI students based on findings from national empirical studies. This research employs a library research method by reviewing six national articles that meet the following criteria: (a) discussing determinants of academic procrastination, (b) focusing on PAI students or students in Islamic higher education institutions The findings reveal that dominant intrinsic factors include low learning motivation, weak self-regulation, physical and psychological fatigue, lack of self-confidence, and difficulty maintaining concentration. Meanwhile, dominant extrinsic factors consist of task overload, academic pressure, organizational commitments, digital distractions, online gaming addiction, weak lecturer student communication, and insufficient learning facilities. Additionally, some studies highlight that PAI students face additional challenges such as overlapping religious activity schedules and spiritual obligations, which may influence academic prioritization. These results demonstrate that academic procrastination among PAI students is a multidimensional phenomenon shaped by psychological, academic, environmental, and spiritual factors. Therefore, comprehensive intervention efforts are needed, including strengthening self-regulation, time management, and integrating Islamic spiritual values as an ethical foundation for academic discipline in Islamic higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Superior Tahfidz Program at MI Muhammadiyah Tahfidzul Qur'an Matesih using the Countenance Stake Model which assesses three main components, namely antecedent, transaction, and outcome. The evaluation was conducted to determine the level of program readiness, the suitability of the implementation process with the planning, and the achievement of results obtained through Tahfidz activities. Data collection was carried out through documentation, observation, interviews, and review of student memorization achievements, which were then analyzed descriptively through a comparison between intents and observations according to the structure of the evaluation model. The study results indicate that the Superior Tahfidz Program has a clear planning basis, adequate institutional support, and a curriculum structure that supports the formation of a Qur'anic culture in madrasas. During the implementation phase, the program ran fairly consistently with its initial objectives, although several challenges were still encountered, such as variations in student abilities, limited learning time, and the need to improve the capacity of Tahfidz teachers. Meanwhile, the outcome component shows that the program has a positive contribution to the development of memorization and religious character of students, although its effectiveness depends on the continuity of guidance and strengthening collaboration between teachers, madrasas, and parents. Further analysis revealed opportunities for program development, particularly through improved learning methods, the use of supporting media, and strengthening the memorization evaluation system
