Abstract

The rapid development of twenty-first-century education has emphasized the need for innovative pedagogical models that foster both academic achievement and essential twenty-first-century skills, one of which is Project-Based Learning (PBL). Although PBL has been widely implemented and examined in primary and higher education contexts, studies focusing specifically on its implementation at the senior high school level remain limited and report inconsistent findings. This study aims to systematically review the existing literature on the implementation of Project-Based Learning in senior high school education, with particular attention to implementation models, impacts on students’ learning outcomes, challenges faced by teachers, strategies to address these challenges, and emerging research trends. A systematic literature review method was employed by searching articles indexed in the Scopus database using the keywords “Project-Based Learning,” “Secondary Education,” and “Educational Models.” The selected studies were screened based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria and analyzed using the PRISMA framework. The findings indicate that PBL in senior high schools is commonly implemented through interdisciplinary and contextual approaches and has a positive impact on students’ critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and learning engagement, although its effects on academic achievement remain mixed. Major challenges in implementing PBL include limited teacher training, insufficient resources and infrastructure, time management constraints, and assessment complexities. Furthermore, recent research trends highlight increased integration of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, inter-institutional collaboration, and a growing emphasis on process-oriented assessment and the development of twenty-first-century skills. Overall, this review suggests that Project-Based Learning holds substantial potential to enhance the quality of learning in senior high school education; however, its effective implementation requires systematic planning, sustained teacher professional development, and strong institutional support.

Abstract

This study discusses a brief study of the Science of the Qur'an and its Tafsir, which is one of the most noble and high-ranking sharia sciences, because it is directly related to the Kalam of Allah SWT, as well as its great influence in the correct understanding of the Qur'an and its application. The purpose of this research is to explain the concept of the Qur'anic Science, the virtues of studying it, and its development throughout the ages, focusing on its main topics, such as the collection of the Qur'an, knowing the Mecca and Madani, as well as the methods of interpretation, especially the tafsir bil-ma'tsur (based on history) and the tafsir bil-ra'yi (based on opinion). This research also discusses the concept of collecting the Qur'an both through memorization and writing, and explains the historical stages of the collection of the Qur'an during the time of the Prophet صلى ﷲ عليه وسلم, then during the time of the Caliph Rashidun, and highlights the thoroughness of the scientific methods applied by the Companions in keeping the Qur'an from deviations. In addition, this study discusses the problems of Mecca and Madani, explaining the definition, how to know both, and their benefits in understanding the context of the verses of the Qur'an, knowing nasikh and mansukh, and developments in legislation. This research also pays important attention to the method of interpretation, by explaining the position of tafsir bil ma'tsur as the main basis in understanding the Qur'an, because it is based on authentic texts from the Qur'an, hadith, and the sayings of the companions and tabiin. Then, this study discusses the interpretation of bil-ra'yi, explaining the difference between a good opinion that follows scientific rules and a reprehensible opinion based on lust and ignorance. This research ends by explaining the requirements of a mufassir and ethics in tafsir, emphasizing the importance of not talking about the Qur'an without knowledge, as well as the need for sincerity, piety, and correct methods. The conclusion of this study is that studying the science of the Qur'an is a solid foundation for the correct understanding of the text of the Qur'an, strengthens the faith, and protects the interpretation from deviations, which shows the importance of attention to this science in terms of teaching, learning, and research.

Abstract

Objective and transparent grading remains a critical challenge within educational evaluation system, particularly in contexts where inconsistency, subjectivitiy, and unclear assessment standards affect students' motivation and academic fairness. This study explores the urgency of objective score processing in education by examining teachers’ understanding and practices related to scale selection, score distribution, and standardized assessment criteria. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through in depth interviews, observations, and documentation analysis in several senior high schools. Thematic analysis was employed to identify patterns in how educators interpret and implement objective grading principles. Findings indicate that while teachers recognize the importance of objective evaluation, variations in understanding of measurement scale (nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio), limited use of score distribution analysis, and inconsistent application of assessment standards contribute to discrepancies in grading outcomes. These inconsistencies often impact students’ perceptions of fairness and may influence learning motivation. Furthermore, the study highlights structural challenges such as lack of professional training, minimal feedback mechanisms, and limited technological integration in score processing. This research underscores the need for systematic professional development and standardized assessment frameworks to promote fairness, validity, and accountability in educational evaluation. The study also suggests integrating statistical tools and digital assessment platforms as strategies to enhance objectivity and transparency

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia including pesantren, madrasah, and integrated Islamic schools in responding to the dynamics of modernity and the globalization of education. The background of this research stems from the need to understand how Islamic educational institutions can adapt to the demands of the digital era without abandoning the Islamic values that form their fundamental identity. The main objective of this study is to analyze the forms, directions, and implications of institutional transformation within Indonesia’s Islamic education through a qualitative, literature based approach employing an integrative literature review strategy. Data were collected from various scholarly sources, including reputable journals, academic books, and relevant research reports, and were analyzed thematically and narratively. The findings reveal that the transformation of Islamic education occurs across three major dimensions: institutional, curricular, and ideological values. Pesantren are experiencing modernization in management and curriculum, madrasah emphasize the integration of religious and general sciences, while integrated Islamic schools represent a new, holistic, and adaptive model of Islamic education. Collectively, these institutions demonstrate a synergistic pattern in shaping a more inclusive and competitive national Islamic education system. Theoretically, this study contributes to strengthening the integrative paradigm between faith, knowledge, and practice, while practically providing a conceptual foundation for developing Islamic education policies and strategies that are relevant to the challenges of the modern era.

Abstract

Introduction and development of children's potential at the elementary school level play a crucial role in shaping students' academic, social, emotional, and moral development. However, studies addressing the development of children's potential in primary education tend to focus more on measurable learning outcomes and formal assessments, while research on school strategies, particularly in the context of integrated Islamic elementary schools, remains relatively limited. This study aims to examine the strategies employed by integrated Islamic elementary schools in identifying and developing children's potential from an early age, as well as to identify the factors that support and hinder the implementation of these strategies. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design conducted at one of the integrated Islamic elementary schools in Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the school principal and class teachers, observation of learning activities, and analysis of school documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns and main themes related to the strategies for recognizing and developing children's potential. The findings of this study show that the school implements a holistic and sustainable approach to identifying children's potential through systematic observation, differentiated learning, and intensive communication with parents. The development of both academic and non academic potential is integrated into learning activities, extracurricular activities, and character-building practices that align with the values of integrated Islamic education. Teachers' commitment, school management support, and parental involvement are key supporting factors, while limited time and the diversity of students' characteristics present challenges in the implementation of these strategies. Theoretically, this research enriches the study of school strategies in developing children's potential in primary education. Practically, the findings of this study can serve as a reference for elementary schools, particularly integrated Islamic schools, in designing contextual and sustainable strategies for developing children's potential.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the Islamic paradigm of the essence of science, examine the concept of Islamic Knowledge in Kuntowijoyo's thought, and explain its relevance in the context of modern Islamic education. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive approach with the library research method, through a critical analysis of Kuntowijoyo's works and supporting literature related to Islamic epistemology and the integration of knowledge. The results of the study show that the Islamic paradigm is rooted in the principle of monotheism, which places revelation as the main source of truth and integrates reason ('aql), revelation (naql), and fitrah as the basis of Islamic epistemology. Kuntowijoyo through the concept of Islamic Knowledge offers an alternative paradigm to the Islamization of knowledge, by making Islamic values objective, rational, and applicable in the social realm. This concept is realized through Prophetic Social Science which is based on three main pillars: humanization, liberation, and transcendence. In the context of Islamic education, Islamic Scholarship has implications for the design of an integrative curriculum and learning methods between revelation and rationality, so as to be able to produce knowledgeable, moral, and prophetic awareness of kamil people. This research contributes to strengthening the integralistic scientific paradigm and provides practical direction for the development of holistic and transformative Islamic education.
