One of the roles of BK Counselors in schools is to assist students to become independent and optimally developed in various fields such as social interaction. It is greatly influenced by assertive behavior. The research determines the assertive behavior in men and women using Minangkabau and Batak cultures as a case study. The sample used in this study was 413 which comprises of191 Minangkabau students and 222 Batak students selected by the cluster random sampling technique. Therefore, the instrument used in this study is the scale of assertive behavior with a reliability level of 0.930. The findings of the research show a medium attribute with significant differences in both cultures. Therefore, it is recommended that counselors make use of structuring techniques, while explaining the principle of confidentiality and openness to students.

The low student achievement motivation is something that must be considered. Parents attention became one of the factors that can influence student achievement motivation. The purpose of this study to describe the contribution of parent attention to student’s achievement motivation in SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Padang. This research uses regression analysis. In the research took the sample of 233 students by using purposive sampling technique. It was used instrument "Wira Solina Parents Attention Scale" with reliability value is 0.888, and "Achievement Motivation Scale" with reliability value is 0.885. The results of research showed that: (1) Parents attention (Mother) in the high category; (2) Parents attention (Father) in the medium category; (3) student achievement motivation in the medium category; (4) the contribution of parents attention (mother) to the achievement motivation is 14.4%; (5) the contribution of the parents attention (father) to the achievement motivation is 12.9%; and (6) the contribution of parents attention (Mother and Father) to the achievement motivation are 15.6%. The results of research showed that parents’ attention (mother and father) need to improved student achievement motivation, so it can be recommended by counselor teacher to give guidance and counseling services in the school and involved their parents to improve student achievement motivation.

Adolescents are currently in the midst of technological sophistication, which is very helpful for its development. On the other hand, many adolescents are trapped in the problem of technology addiction. Adolescents are the most age group who experience problems with the use of technology, including online games. Online game addiction is the loss of control over the use of online games, which makes other daily activities are disrupted. Online game addiction in adolescents have an impact on several aspects of life, such as health aspects, psychological aspects, academic aspects, social aspects, and financial aspects. Lack of understanding about the risks of online game addiction can get adolescent stuck in online game addiction. This research aims to describe high school students understanding about the risks of online game addiction. The sample consisted of 255 high school students selected by proportional random sampling technique. Data was collected using a scale measuring understanding of the risks of online game addiction. Data analysis used a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The results showed that high school students understanding about the risks of online game addiction was included in the moderate category with an average score of 198,48 and an achievement score level of 55,14%. Therefore, school counselors must to improve high school students understanding of the risks of online game addiction.

This study aims to analyze the contribution of parental social support and self-control both individually and collectively on student truancy behavior. This research uses descriptive correlational quantitative method. The study population was vocational high school students Muhammadiyah 1 Padang registered in the odd semester of the school year 2020/2021 as many as 447 students. The research sample was 127 students, who were selected by purposive sampling technique. The instrument uses a parental social support scale, self-control scale and the results of student absenteeism recapitulation. The research data were analyzed using descriptive correlational statistics and multiple regressions. The research findings proved that parental social support and self-control simultaneously contributed to student truancy behavior as much as 44.5%. The implication of the results of this study can be used as input for creating guidance and counseling service programs in preventing and reducing truancy in students.

Religious counseling in dealing with mental health after the COVID-19 pandemic. I conducted this research using the library method used in this study using a qualitative approach (library research). Literature-based as study material is the object of research. The analytical technique used in answering the research problem is using content analysis techniques and strengthened by using the results of the Nvivo software coding. The results show that the spread of the COVID-19 virus impacts people’s mental health disorders. So that in reality it requires counseling help to reduce anxieties because of the news that the number of deaths has increased because of corona. Here, religious counseling can be carried out by bathing repentance, repentance prayers, remembrance, and other worship. Likewise, in dealing with the post-covid-19 pandemic so that past events do not happen again and always remember Allah SWT.

Students often exert an excessive emotional reaction to a problem, thus often acting irrationally. Therefore, students need adequate emotional regulation ability. Factors that affect emotional regulation one of them is culture. This research aimed atdescribing differences in emotional regulation between students of Bugis and Malay cultural background and the implications of counseling services. This research used quantitative method of comparative descriptive type. The sample of this research is students of Bugis and Malay background of RiauUniversityconsisting of 168 students. Purposive sampling was used as the sample technique. The instrument used was an emotional regulation questionnaire with Likert scale model. The results of students' emotional regulation reliability of 0.880. Data were analyzed using t-test technique. The results of the data analysis showed that the students' emotional regulation in terms of cultural background was clasdified into high category; there is no significant difference which means that no difference between student emotional regulation of Bugis and Malay cultural background

This study motivated by the low level of student motivation in mathematics subjects. The application of high-touch teachers and academic self-concept are factors that influence students' learning toward motivation in mathematics subjects. This study uses a descriptive correlational quantitative method. The population of this study was all students of MAN 1 Pekanbaru totalling 1138 and 322 students were selected by using proportional stratified random sampling. The instruments used were questionnaires for the application of high scored teachers’, academic self-concept, and student learning motivation in mathematics subjects using a model Likert scale. The findings of the study were the application of high touch teachers in a good category, academic self-concept was in a fairly positive category, student motivation in mathematics subjects was in the high category, the application of high touch teachers and academic self-concept respectively contributes significantly positively to students' learning motivation on mathematics subjects.

This study aims to describe problem children, with a sample of 52 child convicts. In-depth interview techniques with counseling approaches, focused discussions and questionnaires were used for data collection. Data analysis used content analysis techniques and descriptive analysis. This research is the result of the first year of research planned for three years. The results of the study show that: child convicts are in a critical age, a period of seeking identity; have a low education background; very rarely interact socially with their father and mother; Child convicts have various unmet needs in their families. Their needs include: psychological needs, physical needs, social needs, future needs, information needs, and the need to live in character and culture. It is recommended that the results of the first year research be used to determine the right education model for child convicts to lead a moral and characterized life.

Orangtua memiliki bagian untuk membantu anak mencapai hasil belajar yang lebih baik dengan memberikan kasih sayang dan pendidikan melalui nilai-nilai kehidupan, baik nilai agama maupun nilai budaya sosial. Salah satu bentuk peran orang tua memberi perhatian pada anak mereka. Perhatian besar orang tua, anak akan memiliki motivasi belajar yang tinggi. Perhatian orang tua dan motivasi belajar berperan penting dalam proses pembelajaran siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: (1) perhatian orang tua terhadap latar belakang budaya Melayu; (2) perhatian orang tua latar belakang budaya Jawa; (3) motivasi belajar siswa dalam latar belakang budaya Melayu; (4) motivasi belajar siswa dalam latar belakang budaya Jawa; dan (5) meneliti perbedaan perhatian orang tua dan motivasi belajar antar siswa yang berpendidikan bahasa Melayu dan bahasa Jawa. Ini adalah penelitian komparatif deskriptif yang menerapkan metode kuantitatif. Dengan rumus Slovin dengan teknik simple random sampling, 200 siswa dipilih sebagai sampel di SMP Negeri 1 Siak Hulu Kabupaten Kampar pada Tahun Akademik 2015/2016. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan MANOVA (analisis multivariat varians). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) perhatian orang tua terhadap latar belakang budaya Melayu masuk dalam kategori baik; (2) Orang tua memperhatikan latar belakang budaya Jawa berada dalam kategori baik; (3) Motivasi belajar siswa dengan latar belakang budaya Melayu termasuk dalam kategori tinggi; (4) Motivasi belajar siswa dengan latar belakang budaya Jawa termasuk dalam kategori sangat tinggi; dan (5) Tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara orang tua dengan latar belakang budaya Melayu dan Jawa, sementara ada perbedaan motivasi belajar yang signifikan. Perhatian orang tua dan motivasi belajar antar siswa yang memiliki latar belakang budaya Melayu dan latar belakang budaya Jawa. antara latar belakang budaya siswa Melayu dan Jawa.

Idealnya remaja mampu mencapai kematangan yang baik secara sikap, emosi, dan pikiran maka hal ini merujuk pada kesadaran untuk memperoleh kehidupan yang penuh kebahagiaan hal ini erat kaitannya dengan kontrol diri dan subjective well being. Remaja dengan subjective well being bagus akan mampu mencapai berbagai kebahagiaan dalam hidupnya, mampu mencapai tujuan, optimis, bisa bersosialisasi, mampu mengontrol diri dan adanya perubahan ke arah yang positif. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkapkan (1) tingkat kontrol diri remaja (2) menjelaskan subjective well being remaja dan (3) menguji korelasi kontrol diri dengan subjective well being remaja. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif korelasional. Pengambilan sampel dengan teknik proportional random sampling, maka diperoleh sampel sebanyak 182 orang siswa. Teknik analisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan analisis korelasional. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) kontrol diri remaja secara umum berada pada kategori tinggi, (2) subjective well being remaja secara umum berada pada kategori sedang, (3) terdapat hubungan yang positif signifikan antara kontrol diri dengan subjective well being remaja etnis minangkabau.
