Abstract

Abstract

Multimodal Pedagogy Flipped Classrooms (MPFC) are well regarded for professional, pedagogical, and practical contributions to classroom practices in global context. Yet, Indonesian education setting has not provided significant attention, and the implementation of MPFC should be cultivated further for its benefit in language learning. Therefore, the present study investigates the impact of the MPFC to promote students' performance of speaking skill, measure the relationship of speaking ability and their level of autonomy, and exploring students' perception of MPFC implementation. The study conducted a mixed method which involved sixty students learning English as a foreign language from a private university in Indonesia and 6 selected students for interviews data collection. The quantitative research mediated MPFC for experimental class and product-based approach for control class while the qualitative research design using classroom observation and semi-structured interviews. The obtained data were analyzed using independent t-test and ANOVA for quantitative purpose, and thematic analysis to interview. The results show a profound difference in students' speaking from the pretest (M=77.00 SD=4.85) to the post-test (M=80.90 SD=3.12). Moreover, the relationship between their speaking skill and autonomy reveal betterment after MPFC implementation (t-value 0.003). Students perceive positively toward this pedagogical intervention including their experience, challenges, and their strategy to cope with challenges found. The implications and recommendations of the study are also discussed.

Abstract

Natural surfactants derived from plant-based sources, such as saponins, remain underexplored. This study developed the extraction of saponins from Jatropha curcas leaves using microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) finding that the optimized condition of 3 min, 363.15 K, 30 mL/g ratio of extraction yielded the highest saponin content of 35.04 mg/g. The FTIR and HPLC analyses confirmed the structural similarity between the extract and commercial saponin. Additionally, the extracted saponins effectively solubilized Remazol Red RB and Blue TQ with solubilization efficiency increasing proportionally to the surfactant concentration. The surfactant properties of the extracted saponin were also confirmed by its ability to form foam and high critical micellar concentration, which revealed the potential for material valorization. This work demonstrated that the development of plant-based surfactants provides a sustainable alternative to synthetic surfactants. Moreover, valorizing natural materials contributes to the advancement of eco-friendly technologies, particularly in waste treatment and water purification applications.

Abstract

This article discusses the role of the Holy Spirit in the ministry of God's servants based on 1 Thessalonians 1:4–10 and its impact on the growth of the congregation's faith. Genuine ministry cannot be separated from the presence and work of the Holy Spirit, as the Spirit provides power, conviction, and exemplary character in service. The purpose of this study is to analyze in depth how the role of the Holy Spirit is manifested in the ministry of God’s servants and its effect on the quality of the congregation’s spiritual growth. The method used is qualitative with a descriptive-analytical approach, focusing on literature review and conceptual analysis based on relevant theological and practical sources. The analysis shows that the Holy Spirit plays a central role in equipping and guiding ministers, so that the ministry becomes not only informative but also transformative. When ministry is carried out in dependence on the Holy Spirit, the congregation experiences true spiritual growth through life transformation, faithfulness in following Christ, and perseverance in hope. In conclusion, the role of the Holy Spirit in ministry is essential for the growth of the congregation’s faith. The contemporary church must emphasize the active involvement of the Holy Spirit in every aspect of ministry in order to produce spiritually mature believers who grow in faith and become more like Christ.

Abstract

General Background: Literacy skills are crucial for primary education as they support student comprehension across subjects. Specific Background: However, the reading ability of Indonesian students remains below international averages, highlighting the need for effective instructional strategies. Knowledge Gap: Prior studies often focus on a single cooperative model without comparing their influence on reading motivation. Aims: This study compares the Think Pair Share (TPS) and Team Games Tournament (TGT) models in fostering reading interest among grade V students in Makassar. Results: Using a quasi-experimental design with 70 students, results showed a significant increase in reading interest in both groups, with TPS achieving a higher mean post-test score (82.57) than TGT (72.29). Novelty: The research simultaneously examines two cooperative learning models, emphasizing reading interest rather than only cognitive outcomes. Implications: TPS is recommended for deep comprehension and sustained reading motivation, while TGT is more suitable for creating a competitive and engaging classroom climate. Teachers may combine both approaches to balance comprehension and motivation. Highlight TPS produces higher reading interest gains than TGT. TGT is effective for engagement through competition. Combining TPS and TGT optimizes motivation and comprehension. Keyword Cooperative Learning, Think Pair Share, Team Games Tournament, Reading Interest, Elementary Education

Abstract

Indonesia faces a severe solid waste crisis, with more than 60 million tons generated annually. Weak law enforcement and insufficient fiscal support—regional budget allocations averaging only 0.6–1% of APBD, far below the 3% benchmark—have further exacerbated the problem. This study aims to develop an integrative legal framework for sustainable waste management that harmonises national environmental law with contemporary Islamic environmental jurisprudence (fiqh al-biʾah). Methodologically, the research employs a systematic review and doctrinal–normative analysis. Data were collected and classified from national statutes, government regulations, regional bylaws, and peer-reviewed literature, as well as case studies from Surabaya, Banyumas, and DKI Jakarta. These materials were then analysed through the lens of uṣūl al-fiqh and qawāʿid fiqhiyyah, including the maxims lā ḍarar wa lā ḍirār, maṣlaḥah ʿāmmah, ḥifẓ al-biʾah, and the principle of istikhlāf. The findings reveal three critical gaps. First, underfunding hinders early-warning systems and sustainable infrastructure. Second, the absence of faith-based fiscal tools—such as Green Zakat and Eco-Waqf—limits financing capacity and raises questions of compatibility with APBN/APBD structures and formal zakat institutions. Third, regulatory disharmony between central and regional authorities undermines effective coordination. This study proposes a holistic model that mandates a minimum 3% APBD allocation, institutionalises Islamic green finance mechanisms, and scales up municipal innovations such as Surabaya’s community-based 3R programs. It also highlights the socio-political dynamics affecting the acceptance of religiously informed legal frameworks. The novelty of this research lies in embedding fiqh al-biʾah into positive law and policy instruments, offering a faith-grounded yet implementable roadmap for Indonesia’s sustainable waste governance.
