The method used in this research was Research and Development (R&D). The teaching materials developed in this study are STEM oriented by integrating the elements of science, technology, engineering design, and mathematics in a whole integration on The Object Motion materials. The teaching materials developed were validated by some experts to collect information related to the accuracy of the content and the validity of the teaching materials, and were also tested for their readability. The instrument in this study was a validation sheets to test the validity and a gap-filling test to analyze the readability of the teaching materials using descriptive analysis techniques. This research resulted in (1) STEM-oriented teaching materials having the characteristics of elements of science, technology, engineering and mathematics presented in a complete coherence, (2) the average validation score given by the experts was 85.68% in the very good validation category, and it was emphasized with the results of the Aiken's V test with the acquisition of Aiken's V validation coefficient of 1.14 in the valid category, (3) the acquisition of an average readability score of 85.18% in the category of easy-to-understand teaching materials. Based on these results, STEM-oriented teaching materials on Object Motion are suitable to use in the learning process of Science Courses in class VIII.

Abstract

Nowadays scientific literacy is a concern in the world of education. Various efforts have been made by the Government to improve students' scientific literacy. Efforts are made by changing the current curriculum. However, this has not been followed by the availability of assessment instruments or evaluation tools used to measure students' scientific literacy. The results of observations carried out show that currently the evaluation tool used is only to measure students’ knowledge. This study aims to develop an evaluation tool based on aspects of scientific literacy competence on the theme of the solar system. This study also aims to determine the scientific literacy profile of students through Item Response Theory (IRT) analysis. The research was conducted with a sample of 256 students of class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Salatiga. IRT analysis using the BILOG MG computer program with a 2-parameter logistic model (2-PL). The results of the item analysis showed that of the 30 items, there was one item (item 25) that had a minus biserial correlation value, so item 25 that no calculations for the next phase. From the analysis of the difficulty level index, 86% of the items have a good difficulty index and all items have a good differentiation of problem index. The results of the students' abilities showed that the average obtained was -0.0143. The mean ability with a minus value indicates that most of the students have low abilities.

Abstract

The limited availability of innovative books as a learning medium in the introduction of hijaiyah letters in children makes learning less optimal. The letter is a symbol of sound, the letter hijaiyah that is, the Arabic alphabet starting from ا (alif) to ي (ya). This study aims to analyze the feasibility of Cerita Huruf Hijaiyah Berseri book (TAHU JARI) in the introduction to hijaiyah letters for children aged 3-4 years. The design of this research is Research and Development (R&D) with reference to the theory of Borg and Gall. The stages in this research include 1) preliminary research and data collection; 2) Planning 3) Design development; 4) preliminary field trials; 5) Revise the trial results. TAHU JARI was tried out in 3 stages, the initial trial involved 4 students, the second trial involved 8 students and the operational field trial involved 16 students. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive. The results showed that the results of the initial field trials were 82.5% (feasible). In the second trial, the percentage was 90% (feasible). The operational field trial phase, obtained 92.5%, it shows that the development of learning media for Cerita Huruf Hijaiyah Berseri book (TAHU JARI) can be an interesting medium in introducing hijaiyah letters to early childhood. The results of this study indicate that the TAHUJARI book is suitable for use in children, that children easily understand hijaiyah letters quickly.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the problem solving ability of harmonic motion material. Problem solving skills are one of the important components of learning. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the extent of student problem solving skills. The method used in this study is a descriptive analysis method with data collection techniques using the instrument of the description problem along with aspects of problem solving capability assessment. The subjects of this study were 24 physics education students who had obtained harmonic motion material. The results showed that students had difficulty in harmonic motion material. In the first phase of useful description, the average problem-solving ability of students was only 41.21%. The second stage of physics approach, the average student ability of 32.24%. The third phase of the specific application of physics, the average student's ability is only 14.21%. The fourth stage of mathematical procedure, student ability by 10.11%, the fifth stage of logical progession averages student ability by 2.23%. Therefore, it can be said that problem solving skills are still relatively low, so learning is needed that can improve students' problem solving skills. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the most common mistakes made by students in solving physics problems are errors in the process of conveying results and assessing solutions. Mistakes that are rarely made by students are mistakes in understanding problems by using correct representations.

Abstract

Misconception is an understanding that is believed to be correct but not according to the understanding of the experts. Misconceptions can occur because students build their knowledge gained from daily activities. This study aims to identify misconceptions about Newton's law concept and the causes of the misconceptions. The research type is descriptive quantitative. A total of 30 students of SMA Multazam IBS Semarang were given a true-false objective test and drew a style diagram accompanied by a certainty of response index (CRI). The cause of the misconception was obtained by interviewing 4 students. The results obtained were as many as 20.99% of students experienced misconceptions, 9.99% of students understood the concept, and 69.02% did not understand the concept of Newton's law concept. The most common misconception is that students think that heavier objects will fall faster than lighter objects. The cause of students experiencing misconceptions is the understanding they build themselves; students' carelessness in choosing answers; low reasoning ability; and forget the material that has been delivered.

Abstract

The learning process of deaf students requires more time than that of normal students. This also occurred in physics topics of natural science subject. In order to support the deaf students’ concept understanding, learning media such as teaching props, are needed. This support would help them to maximize their senses of sight and touch. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of energy change props in enhancing energy concept understanding for deaf students. This research was a quasi-experimental study with a single subject research design. The subjects of the study were five deaf students of grade VII in a junior school for special-needs students in Central Java, Indonesia. The effectiveness of learning has been shown from the improvement of conceptualization from base-line condition to intervention. An effect size technique was used in the data analysis. The result showed that the obtained average effect size in this study was 1.32 with a high category. This study indicated that the props for energy change were effective for enhancing energy concept understanding for deaf students.

Abstract

Scientific literacy skills are very important in the era of globalization, where science and technology are rapidly developing, especially in developed countries. Science and technology in particular have a very big role in improving the quality of a country's education. The low scientific literacy of students in Indonesia makes Indonesia rank 70 out of 79 countries participating in international scientific literacy assessments. Students 'scientific literacy skills must receive special attention, namely by looking for causes and efforts to improve students' scientific literacy, especially in Indonesia. The research objective is to determine the causes of low scientific literacy and how to improve it to assess the integrity of students' scientific literacy by mapping the research results from previous research at the science education level for both junior high and high school students. The type of research method used is the SLR (Systematic Literature Review) method. This research method is carried out by reviewing and identifying journals systematically with data results in the form of qualitative descriptive analysis.
