Abstract

Drug addiction negatively impacts individuals’ quality of life, particularly in terms of spiritual well-being, creating a gap between empirical conditions and the ideal expectation of religious closeness. This gap increases the risk of relapse and highlights the urgency of counseling services that integrate not only cognitive and behavioral aspects but also spirituality, which is often neglected in current approaches. This study aims to develop and validate a Cognitive Behavioral Spiritual (CBT-S) counseling model to enhance the spiritual well-being of clients with addictions. This research employed a research and development approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. Participants included 117 drug-addicted clients to assess spiritual well-being, along with three experts and five addiction counseling practitioners involved in the validation process. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods and interrater reliability through Cohen’s Kappa. The findings indicate that clients’ spiritual well-being remains in low to moderate categories, forming the basis for developing the CBT-S model. The results show that the CBT-S counseling model is feasible and reliable for improving spiritual well-being. The model offers a novel framework with stages of Al-Aajis, Al-Khathir, Hadith An-Nafs, Al-Hamm, and Al-‘Azm, integrating spiritual values by involving God throughout the counseling process.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines whether two-way teacher–parent communication is associated with parental involvement in Islamic early childhood education institutions. It addresses the limited empirical attention given to two-way communication as a distinct relational construct within faith-based early childhood education.Design/methods/approach – The study employed a quantitative correlational design. Data were collected from 175 valid parent responses drawn from Islamic early childhood education institutions in Yogyakarta City, most of which were part of the ’Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal kindergarten network. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression.Findings – The results show a statistically significant positive association between two-way teacher–parent communication and parental involvement. higher levels of reciprocal and responsive communication were associated with higher reported parental involvement. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.294) indicates that two-way teacher–parent communication explained a moderate proportion of the variance in parental involvement, while a substantial proportion remained attributable to factors outside the model.Research implications/limitations – The study contributes to the literature by treating two-way communication as a specific interactional construct rather than a general background dimension of school–family relations. However, the cross -sectional correlational design, reliance on self-reported data, and focus on a single urban context limit causal inference and broader generalizability.Practical implications – The findings highlight the need for early childhood institutions, particularly in culturally embedded and resource-constrained contexts, to shift from one-way information delivery to dialogic, responsive communication. In Islamic early childhood settings, culturally aligned and relational communication practices can strengthen sustained parental engagement through interactive and trust-based partnerships.Originality/value – This study contributes to Global South scholarship by providing empirical evidence from Islamic early childhood education in Indonesia, a context underrepresented in the literature. It advances the field by conceptualizing two-way communication as a distinct dialogic and relational construct, offering a context-sensitive perspective that challenges dominant Western-centric models of family–school partnerships.Paper type Research paper

Abstract

Every human being is endowed with emotions that can be well-controlled, as evidenced by the ability to regulate emotions. The gap relates to the understanding of emotional regulation in the context of drug addiction by addiction counselors, especially for Muslim clients who face emotional conflict, social pressure, and spiritual dynamics during the recovery process. Because the ability to regulate emotions in Muslim addicted clients actually impacts self-recovery, but its measurement hasn’t yet been used with relevant assessments. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop and test the validity and reliability of the emotional regulation scale for Muslim drug-addicted clients undergoing rehabilitation. The study used a sequential explanatory design with a qualitative form content validity stage for construct development through theoretical review, validation by three experts (religion, psychology, and addiction counseling), and readability testing. Then, the quantitative stage was completed by testing the instrument on 49 rehabilitation clients to test construct validity and reliability. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis using Aikan-V, product-moment, and Cronbach's alpha. Logical validity in content validity showed a CVI value of 0.917, indicating very high feasibility. All items correlated with the minimum limit (value>0.2329) were declared empirically valid. Reliability testing using the Rasch model with a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.71 and item reliability of 0.94, indicating good internal consistency. The results of the study confirmed that the regulation emotions scale is suitable for use as an assessment to support addiction counseling services.

Abstract

Marriage annulment due to fraudulent misrepresentation remains a critical yet under-examined phenomenon in Indonesian Islamic family law jurisprudence. This study aims to analyze the judge’s legal reasoning in Decision Number 1380/Pdt.G/2019/PA.Ckr at the Cikarang Religious Court concerning marriage annulment due to spousal fraud, and to evaluate the decision through the lens of maqasid al-shariah theory. This research employs a qualitative approach with normative-juridical legal research design. The primary data source consists of the court decision document, supplemented by statutory provisions and relevant Scopus-indexed scholarly literature. Data were analyzed through content analysis and the maqasid al-shariah framework at three hierarchical levels: daruriyyat, hajiyyat, and tahsiniyyat. The results demonstrate that the judge’s decision exhibits legal coherence with Article 27(2) of the Marriage Law and Article 72(2) of KHI regarding marriage annulment on grounds of fraud. Furthermore, the maqasid al-shariah analysis reveals that the annulment decision fulfills the five essential objectives (al-daruriyyat al-khams): protection of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on the intersection of Islamic legal philosophy and positive law application in Indonesian Religious Courts.

Abstract

Household organic waste remains a serious problem in Indonesia, particularly in urban areas that produce large amounts of waste. The inadequate utilization of kitchen waste, such as vegetable scraps and fruit peels, leads to environmental pollution and potential health problems. Independent waste processing into liquid organic fertilizer is an environmentally friendly solution that is effective and applicable using fermentation solutions. This program aims to educate and foster knowledge and skills in making liquid organic fertilizer from kitchen waste. This community service activity was carried out in Dukuh Lemusir, Pabelan Village, Kartasura Regency, targeting 19 women from the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) as the main partners (divided into 5 groups). The implementation included preparation, outreach, training, monitoring, and evaluation. Evaluation through questionnaires measured knowledge and skills analyzed using quantitative descriptive methods. The training focused on hands-on practice in making liquid organic fertilizer, conducted in groups with intensive guidance. The fermentation results were observed for approximately 30 days and indicated a successful process with characteristics such as brown color, a distinctive fruity aroma, an acidic pH, and no mold. The evaluation results showed an average achievement of 93.68%, categorized as very good. Contributing to reducing waste and environmental pollution, the use of liquid organic fertilizer also supports organic farming and reduces dependence on chemicals. This education and training is expected to encourage the sustainability of environmentally friendly waste management practices in the community and strengthen the government's integrated waste management program.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the representation of mut'ah marriage practices in the film Bidaah and assess its compatibility with the principles of Islamic family law. This phenomenon is motivated by the emergence of religious practice deviations and the manipulation of religious arguments by charismatic figures depicted in visual media. The focus of this study is how the film constructs the practice of mut'ah marriage and how Islamic family law views this representation. This research method is qualitative with a media text analysis type of research. The data collection technique uses content analysis of the film Bidaah as the primary data source, supported by a literature study as secondary data for its legal basis. The analysis was conducted descriptively and analytically with reference to classical Islamic literature, the Compilation of Islamic Law, and the principles of maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah. The results of the study show that the practice of mut'ah marriage in the film Bidaah is represented as a temporary and deviant ‘inner marriage’. The practice is carried out without the involvement of a guardian, without valid witnesses, and without official registration, with the dowry being only a recitation of Al-Fatihah. From the perspective of Islamic family law, this practice is considered invalid because it does not fulfil the pillars and requirements of marriage and contradicts the sacred purpose of marriage to form a permanent family. This study concludes that the film serves as a social critique of the abuse of authority or power by religious leaders or heads of religion, which can harm the rights of women and children when such marriages occur.

Abstract

The quality of life of individuals and groups plays an important role in building harmonious social relationships through the principles of peace psychology implemented in peace education and realized in peace counseling. However, most peace counseling models still focus on technical and practical aspects, while their ontological, epistemological, and axiological philosophical foundations have not been studied in depth. This theoretical gap has the potential to weaken the scientific foundation and direction of peace counseling intervention development. Therefore, this study aims to examine various peace counseling models from a philosophical perspective as a basis for strengthening counseling theory and practice. The research method used is a literature study of books and journal articles related to peace counseling published between 2019–2025. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative analysis techniques through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the peace counseling model developed by experts is based on four main counseling philosophies: humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, spiritual, and multicultural. Ontologically, humans are understood as religious, rational, social, and cultural beings who have the potential for both conflict and peace. Epistemologically, knowledge about peace is built through the integration of cognitive-behavioral change, self-awareness, spiritual values, and local wisdom. Axiologically, peace counseling is oriented towards the formation of peaceful, tolerant, compassionate individuals who are capable of building social harmony. Although this philosophy has not been fully studied by model developers, this novelty reveals that spiritual philosophy can be integrated with all guidance and counseling philosophies. Therefore, it is hoped that in the future, counseling model developers will pay attention to philosophical studies as the root of theory and practice.
