Abstract

Mathematical literacy often focuses on abstract concepts, neglecting their application in real-life contexts meaningful to students. This limitation hampers students' ability to use mathematics to solve everyday problems. Grounded in pragmatism philosophy, which views knowledge as dynamic and shaped by experience, this study explores how mathematical literacy can be developed as an adaptive skill connected to real-world challenges. Through a literature review of pragmatism theories and mathematical literacy practices, the research highlights the potential of pragmatism to enrich mathematical literacy education. Findings suggest that integrating pragmatism fosters a more meaningful learning experience by emphasizing the application of mathematical concepts in daily life. This approach transforms mathematical literacy from merely understanding theories into a practical skill adaptable to evolving real-world needs. The study recommends incorporating pragmatic strategies, such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL), into curricula to align mathematical literacy with contemporary demands and encourages institutions to provide regular training on such methods to enhance students’ competencies. Literasi matematika sering kali berfokus pada konsep-konsep abstrak, sehingga kurang memperhatikan penerapannya dalam konteks kehidupan nyata yang relevan bagi siswa. Keterbatasan ini menghambat kemampuan siswa untuk menggunakan matematika dalam memecahkan masalah sehari-hari. Berlandaskan filsafat pragmatisme yang memandang pengetahuan sebagai sesuatu yang dinamis dan dibentuk oleh pengalaman, studi ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana literasi matematika dapat dikembangkan sebagai keterampilan adaptif yang terhubung dengan tantangan dunia nyata. Melalui tinjauan pustaka terhadap teori-teori pragmatisme dan praktik literasi matematis, penelitian ini menyoroti potensi pragmatisme dalam memperkaya pembelajaran literasi matematika. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa integrasi pendekatan pragmatisme dapat menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang lebih bermakna dengan menekankan penerapan konsep matematika dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Pendekatan ini mengubah literasi matematika dari sekadar pemahaman teoretis menjadi keterampilan praktis yang adaptif terhadap kebutuhan dunia nyata yang terus berkembang. Studi ini merekomendasikan penerapan strategi pragmatis, seperti PBL, ke dalam kurikulum untuk menyelaraskan literasi matematika dengan tuntutan zaman, serta mendorong institusi pendidikan untuk menyediakan pelatihan rutin mengenai metode tersebut guna meningkatkan kompetensi siswa.

Abstract

Kemampuan komunikasi matematis adalah kemampuan penyampaian ide dan solusi matematika secara lisan atau tulisan dengan menggunakan angka, simbol aljabar, serta secara visual dengan menggunakan gambar, diagram, tabel, grafik dan benda nyata. Ada banyak faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Salah satunya adalah gaya belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa berdasarkan gaya belajar. Metode penelitian yang akan digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada salah satu SMP di Kabupaten Ciamis. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari tiga siswa yaitu satu siswa dengan gaya belajar visual, satu siswa dengan gaya belajara auditori dan satu siswa dengan gaya belajar kinestetik. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui angket gaya belajar, soal tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis, dan wawancara. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa siswa dengan gaya bejara visual memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis kategori tinggi. Siswa dengan gaya belajar auditori memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis kategori rendah dan siswa dengan gaya belajar kinestetik memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis kategori sedang.

Abstract

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that combines real and virtual elements to create a hybrid experience. Research has shown that AR can improve spatial abilities, assist learning, and increase motivation in students. It has also been demonstrated to facilitate collaborative learning and the evolution of learning in mathematics. The purpose of this study is to analyze the status and trends of AR research in mathematics education over the past 20 years. AR has been studied extensively and has many potentials uses in education and learning, but it may be used more frequently in certain situations or for specific goals. The study used Scopus and PRISMA to conduct a systematic review of articles and Biblioshiny software for bibliometric analysis, including co-citation and co-author analysis. The research on augmented reality in mathematics education has grown steadily over the past 20 years and has had a significant impact, with an average of 13.74 citations per document. It has also been conducted and disseminated internationally and has seen a recent increase in publications. The most relevant source for this research is "Journal of Physics: Conference Series”. Indonesia is the most productive country in this research, followed by Mexico and China. Keywords in the research include "mathematics education," "augmented reality," and "teaching and learning."

Abstract

Keunikan seorang anak merupakan fenomena yang menarik, dari cara berpikir, gaya belajar, psikologis anak dan masih banyak lagi. Potensi yang dimiliki suatu individu dinamakan bakat. Kecerdasan dan keberbakatan dianggap suatu konsep yang berhubungan. Cerdas istimewa dan berbakat istimewa, cerdas istimewa dipandang sebagai potensi intelektual secara umum, sedangkan berbakat istimewa merupakan potensi individu pada suatu bidang tertentu. Salah satunya adalah matematika. Anak berbakat matematika merupakan bagian kelompok anak Cerdas Istimewa dan Berbakat Istimewa dalam bidang matematika atau menunjukkan kemampuan matematika yang luar biasa. Cara berpikir mereka berbeda ketika memahami masalah matematika. Hal ini merupakan fenomenayang menarik untuk diteliti mendalam.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode partisipan observer moderat yang bertujuan melihat karakteristik dan pola pikir anak berbakat matematika secara mendalam. Tipeberpikir anak berbakat matematika tingkat SMA di Kota Bandung itu berbeda-beda, ada anak yang bertipe aljabar, analisis, logika, geometri-spasial, kombinatorik, dan adapula anak yang bertipe divergen. Pola pikir yang berbeda akibat dari pengalaman dan latihan yang berbeda pula. Beberapa anak berbakat mampu meraih prestasi, namun ada pula anak berbakat yang berprestasi kurang (underachiever). Tiga faktor penting dalam mencetak anak yang unggul dalam matematika, yakni keberbakatan matematika, motivasi internal-eksternal dan lingkungan. Dilihat dari sisi psikologis, anak berbakat matematika memiliki sifat-sifat yang berbeda dari anak pada umumnya, terutama rasa empati. Semakin tinggi logika anak, maka semakin rendah rasa empati. Fenomena tersebut perlu diteliti lebih lanjut.

Abstract

Fuzzy Multi-Attribute Decision Making (FMADM) is a helpful method in decision support systems, as it is used to identify the best options among several options that meet the selected requirements. Fuzzy Weighted Product (FWP) is a method found in the FMADM method. The FWP method uses the concept of sorting by multiplying  the criterion rating, whose weight is the power of each of the criterion values. The purpose of this study is to apply the FWP method in determining KJP recipients. The stages in the FWP method started from the decision-making criteria of 191 students which included a lot of parental income, parental employment, vehicle ownership, and many dependents. Furthermore, the data is processed using the fuzzy system  and after that the application of the FWP method to perform further calculations. The stages are determining the weight and match rating, transforming the data, calculating the value of alternative preference (S), and the relative value of alternative (V). The best results are determined by the highest relative preference value. The results can be used for decision-making for KJP recipients at SDN Lubang Buaya 11 Pagi East Jakarta and help overcome underprivileged students in school fees.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the use of Mathematical Learning Objects based on blended pictorial abstracts on the Reflective Abstraction abilities of students in the mathematics selection category. The subjects in this study were 107 students of the Mathematics Education Study Program who contracted secondary school mathematics courses (or equivalent) from four private universities on the island of Java. The subjects were taken purposively, the selection of universities was carried out randomly. The results obtained are: (1) There are differences in the Reflective Abstraction abilities of students who learn using Mathematical Learning Objects based on blended Pictorial abstract based on the prerequisite knowledge ability (KPP) categories of low, medium, high, with sig.0.006; (2) Based on further tests, to see which one is better, the results obtained are sig. 0.008 for KRA_KPPR and KR A-KPPS; sig. 0.002 for KRA_KPPR and KRA-KPPST; and sig. 0.500 for KRA_KPPS and KRA- KPPT. This means that: the Reflective abstraction ability of students in the medium KPP category is better than the students in the low KPP category, the Reflective abstraction ability of students in the high KPP category is better than the students in the low KPP category, the Reflective abstraction ability of students in the high KPP category is no better than the students in the medium KPP category.

Abstract

This study investigates Blaise Pascal's contribution to mathematics, focusing on the Mystic Hexagon Theorem, and evaluates the understanding of Mathematics Education students at Padang State University (Class of 2021). A qualitative approach was employed, combining a systematic literature review and semi-structured interviews with 10 students selected from five classes. Student responses were analyzed and categorized into four levels: Expert, Medium, Low, and Unknowing. The findings reveal that only two students could successfully prove Pascal's Mystic Hexagon Theorem with clear and logical steps. At the same time, the remaining participants struggled to identify key concepts or complete the solution process. This outcome indicates students' significant lack of understanding of historical mathematical theories, highlighting an educational gap in integrating historical contexts into modern curricula. The study implies that incorporating historical mathematical theories, such as Pascal's contributions, into classroom instruction can improve students' problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and geometric reasoning. Additionally, exposure to mathematical history fosters deeper appreciation and motivation, connecting abstract concepts to their historical evolution. Bridging this gap through history-based learning strategies can make mathematics more engaging and meaningful, enabling students to develop more substantial foundational knowledge and practical skills.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana self-efficacy santri setelah menggunakan modul pembelajaran berbasis pesantren dengan pendekatan saintifik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitaif dengan menggunakan pendekatan pre experimental design. Pendekatan pre experimental design yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan jenis one group pretest-posttest study. Hasil analisis angket self-efficacy menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan self-efficacy santri antara sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan modul. Hasil analisis sumber self-efficacy setelah menggunakan modul diperoleh bahwa sumber mastery experience dan social persuasions berada pada kategori tinggi, sumber vicarious experience berada pada kategori sangat tinggi, sedangkan sumber physiological state berada pada kategori sedang. Hasil analisis skor seluruh angket menunjukkan self-efficacy santri berada pada kategori tinggi setelah pemakaian modul. Abstract: The goal of this research is to assess students' self-efficacy after utilizing Islamic boarding school-based mathematics learning module with scientific approach. The research method used in this research using a pre experimental design approach.The pre experimental design approach used in this study used the type of one group pretest-posttest study. The examination of the self-efficacy questionnaire revealed that students' self-efficacy increased between before and after using the module. After using the module, the sources of mastery experience and social persuasion were in the high category, sources of vicarious experience were in the very high category, and sources of physiological state were in the medium category, according to the results of the self-efficacy sources analysis. After using the module, the students' self-efficacy was in the high category, according to the results of the analysis of all the questionnaire scores.

Abstract

Currently, online learning becomes a new trend in the Indonesian education. But, the educators are not ready to adapt to online learning, especially in online learning assessments. This study aims to describe the alternative assessments in online learning that can be implemented at elementary education along with its advantages and disadvantages. This study employed a qualitative approach with the literature review method. Researchers collected a number of reputable national and international journal articles, textbooks, handbooks, regulations, and so on from the google scholar database, science direct, eric, and others related to research problems and objectives. The analysis of the literature review uses the critical appraisal method. The results of this study showed that online learning assessments that can be implemented in elementary education were formative and summative assessments. It included cognitive assessments, performance assessments, portfolios, writings and journals, self-assessment and peers-assessments. The use of online learning assessments has many advantages such as the availability to conduct tests on demand and at any time, provides direct feedback to users, the students’ quick access to the test results, and a more accurate measurement of student learning. However, online assessment systems also have several drawbacks, such as students who have low information technology (IT) skills might be disadvantaged. For this reason, in implementing online learning and assessment, teachers and students should master information and communication technology skills.

AR can be applied to mobile learning, improving efficiency and effectiveness in education, even for learning mathematics. The study aims to analyze and describe comprehensively the effect of experiential learning and direct instruction assisted by augmented reality on the acquisition and improvement of students' mathematical reasoning abilities. This research uses quantitative methods with a quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design and a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample in this study consisted of 50 students in the eighth grade at one of the secondary schools in Bandung, Indonesia. The instrument in this study is a set of mathematical reasoning ability tests. The results of this study concluded that 1) Based on the standard of the deviation, the descriptive spread of scores for achieving mathematical reasoning abilities of students learning with experiential learning assisted by augmented reality (more widespread); 2) Cohen's d value on the output paired samples effect sizes was 14.003 with a point estimate of (large) so the value of the effects sizes obtained shows that the implementation of experiential learning assisted augmented reality has a major effect on the acquisition of mathematical reasoning abilities; 3) The mean achievement of mathematical reasoning abilities of students studying with experiential learning assisted by augmented reality was 60.38 relatively lower than the mean achieving mathematics reasoning abilities of students who studied with directed instructions assisted by augmented reality, 70.33; 4) The effect size value shown by the value is -3.50, and this value is less than 0.2, so based on Cohen's d criterion, then the effect of experiential learning assisted by augmented reality on the acquisition of mathematical reasoning abilities students are in the small category. The findings combine experiential learning and directed instructions assisted by augmented reality, influencing students' reasoning ability mathematically.
