Abstract

This research aims to determine the use of Mathematical Learning Objects based on blended pictorial abstracts on the Reflective Abstraction abilities of students in the mathematics selection category. The subjects in this study were 107 students of the Mathematics Education Study Program who contracted secondary school mathematics courses (or equivalent) from four private universities on the island of Java. The subjects were taken purposively, the selection of universities was carried out randomly. The results obtained are: (1) There are differences in the Reflective Abstraction abilities of students who learn using Mathematical Learning Objects based on blended Pictorial abstract based on the prerequisite knowledge ability (KPP) categories of low, medium, high, with sig.0.006; (2) Based on further tests, to see which one is better, the results obtained are sig. 0.008 for KRA_KPPR and KR A-KPPS; sig. 0.002 for KRA_KPPR and KRA-KPPST; and sig. 0.500 for KRA_KPPS and KRA- KPPT. This means that: the Reflective abstraction ability of students in the medium KPP category is better than the students in the low KPP category, the Reflective abstraction ability of students in the high KPP category is better than the students in the low KPP category, the Reflective abstraction ability of students in the high KPP category is no better than the students in the medium KPP category.

Abstract

This study investigates Blaise Pascal's contribution to mathematics, focusing on the Mystic Hexagon Theorem, and evaluates the understanding of Mathematics Education students at Padang State University (Class of 2021). A qualitative approach was employed, combining a systematic literature review and semi-structured interviews with 10 students selected from five classes. Student responses were analyzed and categorized into four levels: Expert, Medium, Low, and Unknowing. The findings reveal that only two students could successfully prove Pascal's Mystic Hexagon Theorem with clear and logical steps. At the same time, the remaining participants struggled to identify key concepts or complete the solution process. This outcome indicates students' significant lack of understanding of historical mathematical theories, highlighting an educational gap in integrating historical contexts into modern curricula. The study implies that incorporating historical mathematical theories, such as Pascal's contributions, into classroom instruction can improve students' problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and geometric reasoning. Additionally, exposure to mathematical history fosters deeper appreciation and motivation, connecting abstract concepts to their historical evolution. Bridging this gap through history-based learning strategies can make mathematics more engaging and meaningful, enabling students to develop more substantial foundational knowledge and practical skills.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana self-efficacy santri setelah menggunakan modul pembelajaran berbasis pesantren dengan pendekatan saintifik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitaif dengan menggunakan pendekatan pre experimental design. Pendekatan pre experimental design yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan jenis one group pretest-posttest study. Hasil analisis angket self-efficacy menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan self-efficacy santri antara sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan modul. Hasil analisis sumber self-efficacy setelah menggunakan modul diperoleh bahwa sumber mastery experience dan social persuasions berada pada kategori tinggi, sumber vicarious experience berada pada kategori sangat tinggi, sedangkan sumber physiological state berada pada kategori sedang. Hasil analisis skor seluruh angket menunjukkan self-efficacy santri berada pada kategori tinggi setelah pemakaian modul. Abstract: The goal of this research is to assess students' self-efficacy after utilizing Islamic boarding school-based mathematics learning module with scientific approach. The research method used in this research using a pre experimental design approach.The pre experimental design approach used in this study used the type of one group pretest-posttest study. The examination of the self-efficacy questionnaire revealed that students' self-efficacy increased between before and after using the module. After using the module, the sources of mastery experience and social persuasion were in the high category, sources of vicarious experience were in the very high category, and sources of physiological state were in the medium category, according to the results of the self-efficacy sources analysis. After using the module, the students' self-efficacy was in the high category, according to the results of the analysis of all the questionnaire scores.

Abstract

Currently, online learning becomes a new trend in the Indonesian education. But, the educators are not ready to adapt to online learning, especially in online learning assessments. This study aims to describe the alternative assessments in online learning that can be implemented at elementary education along with its advantages and disadvantages. This study employed a qualitative approach with the literature review method. Researchers collected a number of reputable national and international journal articles, textbooks, handbooks, regulations, and so on from the google scholar database, science direct, eric, and others related to research problems and objectives. The analysis of the literature review uses the critical appraisal method. The results of this study showed that online learning assessments that can be implemented in elementary education were formative and summative assessments. It included cognitive assessments, performance assessments, portfolios, writings and journals, self-assessment and peers-assessments. The use of online learning assessments has many advantages such as the availability to conduct tests on demand and at any time, provides direct feedback to users, the students’ quick access to the test results, and a more accurate measurement of student learning. However, online assessment systems also have several drawbacks, such as students who have low information technology (IT) skills might be disadvantaged. For this reason, in implementing online learning and assessment, teachers and students should master information and communication technology skills.

Abstract

In the last decade, augmented reality has been one type of virtual reality technology. AR can be applied to mobile learning, improving efficiency and effectiveness in education, even for learning mathematics. The study aims to analyze and describe comprehensively the effect of experiential learning and direct instruction assisted by augmented reality on the acquisition and improvement of students' mathematical reasoning abilities. This research uses quantitative methods with a quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design and a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample in this study consisted of 50 students in the eighth grade at one of the secondary schools in Bandung, Indonesia. The instrument in this study is a set of mathematical reasoning ability tests. The results of this study concluded that 1) Based on the standard of the deviation, the descriptive spread of scores for achieving mathematical reasoning abilities of students learning with experiential learning assisted by augmented reality (more widespread); 2) Cohen's d value on the output paired samples effect sizes was 14.003 with a point estimate of (large) so the value of the effects sizes obtained shows that the implementation of experiential learning assisted augmented reality has a major effect on the acquisition of mathematical reasoning abilities; 3) The mean achievement of mathematical reasoning abilities of students studying with experiential learning assisted by augmented reality was 60.38 relatively lower than the mean achieving mathematics reasoning abilities of students who studied with directed instructions assisted by augmented reality, 70.33; 4) The effect size value shown by the value is -3.50, and this value is less than 0.2, so based on Cohen's d criterion, then the effect of experiential learning assisted by augmented reality on the acquisition of mathematical reasoning abilities students are in the small category. The findings combine experiential learning and directed instructions assisted by augmented reality, influencing students' reasoning ability mathematically.

Abstract

Buku teks matematika memegang peranan penting dalam proses pembelajaran matematika karena guru-guru menggunakannya sebagai panduan untuk proses pembelajaran, baik yang berhubungan dengan konten pengajaran maupun metode pengajaran. Oleh karena itu, kelayakan buku teks mempengaruhi keberhasilan proses belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesesuaian buku teks matematika kelas X yang diterbitkan oleh Pusat Kurikulum dan Perbukuan dengan standar Pusat Perbukuan pada materi SPLTV. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan analisis dokumen. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pengamatan dan pencatatan mengenai kesesuaian buku yang dinyatakan dengan pendekatan check-list pada lembar instrumen yang disusun berdasarkan standar Pusat Perbukuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 16 butir penilaian yang ditetapkan oleh standar Pusat Perbukuan, masih terdapat 3 butir penilaian yang belum dipenuhi. Hal ini karena kedalaman materi SPLTV yang dimuat dalam buku masih belum sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran, terdapat contoh permasalahan SPLTV yang masih kurang dekat dengan kehidupan peserta didik, dan tidak adanya rangkuman materi pada akhir bab. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa meskipun buku teks telah memenuhi sebagian besar standar, masih terdapat beberapa aspek yang perlu diperbaiki untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika. Oleh karena itu, hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi acuan bagi penerbit dan penulis buku dalam menyusun buku teks yang lebih sesuai dengan standar Pusat Perbukuan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan memperoleh gambaran secara komprehensif tentang Peningkatan Kemampuan Pemahaman Matematis (KPM) Siswa SD Melalui Model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dan Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal geometri segibanyak. Metode di dalam penelitian ini adalah mixed method dengan jenis explanatory sequential. Dalam tahapan kuantitatif digunakan penelitian deskriptif dan kuasi eksperimen dengan jenis one group pretest-postest design dan dengan desain factorial 3 x 2. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas IV SDN 1 Girimukti berjumlah 16 orang dan kelas IV SDN 2 Girimukti berjumlah 12 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya peningkatan Kemampuan Pemahaman Matematis (KPM) Siswa melalui implementasi model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berpengaruh secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan model Inquiry Based Learning (IBL), kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang memiliki tingkat motivasi tinggi mengungguli siswa yang memiliki tingkat motivasi rendah, siswa yang memiliki tingkat motivasi tinggi memiliki seluruh indicator kemampuan pemahaman matematis yang dibutuhkan dalam menyelesaikan masalah, siswa yang memiliki tingkat motivasi sedang atau rendah, kemampuan pemahaman matematis yang dimiliki hanya sampai pada indicator mendefinisikan konsep secara verbal dan tulisan, dan mengidentifikasi dan membuat contoh dan bukan contoh.

Abstract

Transposisi didaktik merupakan pendekatan yang memungkinkan penyampaian materi lebih efektif dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengek-splorasi bagaimana pecahan diajarkan kepada siswa kelas V sekolah dasar berdasarkan pen-dekatan transposisi didaktik. Penelitian ini merupakan bagian dari penelitian transposisi didaktik pada materi pecahan yang terdiri atas empat tahapan yaitu scholarly knowledge, knowledge to be taught, taught knowledge, dan learned knowledge. Khusus pada penulisan ini dipaparkan temuan hanya untuk tahapan taught knowledge dengan menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sajian materi pada PBM menunjukan adanya peralihan pengetahuan pada konsep pecahan dari konsep pecahan sebagai scholarly knowledge dan knowledge to be taught menjadi konsep pecahan sebagai taught knowledge. Peralihan ini menunjukan adanya kesenjangan konsep baik kesenjangan konsep antara concept definition yang disajikan guru dalam PBM sebagai taught knowledge dengan formal concept definition scholarly knowledge, maupun kesenjan-gan konsep antara concept definition yang disajikan pada PBM sebagai taught knowledge dengan concept definition yang disajikan pada buku teks matematika sekolah sebagai knowledge to be taught.

This study investigates the influence of motivation levels and interaction effects on students' Mathematical Comprehension Ability (KPM) while utilizing Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL). Employing a quasi-experimental with the 3x2 factorial design, the research was conducted with fourth-grade students in Ciamis Regency, West Java. The findings indicated that the average KPM increase for students using PBL was 53%, which is considered moderate, whereas for IBL, it was 29%, which is categorized as low. Significantly, there were variations in learning effects between PBL and IBL (p < 0.001), with PBL demonstrating a more pronounced impact on KPM improvement. However, the influence of motivation level on KPM improvement was deemed insignificant (p = 0.192), as was the interaction effect between learning methods and motivation level on KPM improvement (p = 0.057). In conclusion, the study suggests that PBL is more effective than IBL in enhancing students' KPM. At the same time, motivation level does not significantly influence KPM improvement, and there is no interaction effect between the type of learning method and motivation level on KPM improvement.
