Fractions are a fundamental mathematical concept that is quite important for life. However, the existing facts prove that fraction concepts in mathematics are a problem that has become a learning obstacle for students in schools. Therefore, this study aims to find alternative strategies to minimize the learning obstacle. The researcher then used a grounded theory design to find this strategy. Researchers also combined research design with phenomenology to find the core categories. Researchers used systematic analysis (open, axial, and selective), combined with thematic analysis with NVivo-12. The analysis results revealed that ontogenic in the form of participants were unable to simplify, determine equivalent fractions, and carelessness was the most significant learning obstacle. The strategy obtained was the use of a didactic design based on a didactical situation in collaboration with didactical design research, which would minimize student learning barriers on fractions.Keywords: fractions, learning obstacle, grounded theory, phenomenology, didactical situation.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i1.pp87-99

Nowadays, students' expected comprehensions are not only capable in memorizing formal concepts, but also capable in constructing their knowledge in solving contextual problems. The presence of the STEM approach, which is the integration of four knowledge including Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, considered as one of the appropriate innovations for students in establishing their own knowledge. However, there are several problems that occur in implementing STEM approach in learning, including the preparation for STEM learning. Hence, this study aims to investigate the readiness of teachers in Indonesia to implement STEM learning, in terms of their knowledge about STEM and experience in arranging STEM-based modules. This research was conducted online using a questionnaire which was distributed through google form. Several teachers were also interviewed to get confirmation of their answers on the google form. The subjects in this study consisted of 54 Mathematics and Science teachers in junior high school. After the data was obtained, the data were analyzed qualitatively. Based on this research, it is known that most of the teachers who participated in this study did not have adequate knowledge regarding STEM, so that teachers were struggling in developing STEM-based modules.

This research represents a significant step in exploring the potential of Augmented Reality (AR) in the context of geometry learning. By utilizing the Scopus database, this research explores AR-related trends and content in geometry learning. The literature review method was used, with a bibliometric analysis approach and systematic literature review, which included four stages: identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion, resulting in 31 final data. This is not just a description of the data but rather an attempt to present a deeper understanding of the role and potential of AR in enhancing geometry learning. In the ever-evolving world of education, a better understanding of the role of technology such as AR can open the door to more innovative and effective learning approaches. Research shows that AR technology can improve students' understanding of geometry concepts, increase learning motivation, and improve teachers' teaching skills. With AR applications, learning geometry becomes more interactive, visual, and engaging for students at various levels of education. In addition, the use of AR technology can also help create a more in-depth learning experience and motivate students to be more active in the learning process.

Didactic Transposition of Absolute Value in Calculus Courses: Analyzing Curicula, Textbooks, and Classroom Instruction. Objective; This study aimed to analyze the knowledge to be taught in absolute value learning as part of the didactic transposition process. Method; A qualitative approach with a descriptive design was employed to examine curriculum documents and calculus textbooks as primary data sources. The research adopted a didactic transposition and praxeological framework to analyze the structure of absolute value instruction. The methodology included document selection based on inclusion criteria, content analysis of absolute value concepts in textbooks, comparison with theoretical praxeology models, and expert validation to ensure alignment with established mathematical and pedagogical principles. Triangulation was applied by analyzing multiple textbooks and curricula to enhance validity and reliability. Findings; The study results indicate that learning absolute value requires comprehensive material to bridge the transition of knowledge from school to university. Differential calculus textbooks introduce the absolute value concept with an initial definition as a non-negative value that geometrically represents distance, followed by a piecewise definition commonly found in high school textbooks. Content analysis reveals that task techniques related to absolute value material predominantly focus on perceptual, algebraic, and operational aspects, while graphical visualization is lacking, which hinders a thorough conceptual understanding. This highlights the contrast between the procedural approach in schools and the conceptual approach in universities, emphasizing the necessity of comprehensive materials to prevent learning obstacles. Conclusion; The findings emphasize the need for a more comprehensive presentation of absolute value in university calculus textbooks to support a smooth transition from school to higher education. The analysis revealed that while absolute value is introduced conceptually, the lack of graphical representation limits students' understanding. Additionally, inconsistencies between curriculum documents and learning materials indicate the necessity of aligning instructional resources. To prevent learning obstacles, it is recommended that absolute value content in differential calculus textbooks be presented in a complete and structured manner, integrating both procedural and conceptual approaches. Pemahaman yang baik terhadap materi aljabar sangat penting bagi kemajuan siswa dalam berbagai disiplin ilmu, termasuk ilmu fisika, teknik, dan ekonomi. Oleh karena itu, pengembangan instrumen tes yang tepat dan berkualitas diperlukan untuk memastikan validitas dan reliabilitas hasil pengukuran. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan instrumen tes yang tepat mengukur pemahaman konsep siswa dalam materi aljabar, serta untuk mengevaluasi validitas dan reliabilitas instrumen tes tersebut. Penelitian ini melibatkan 28 siswa kelas VIIA salah satu Sekolah Menengah Pertama di Kabupaten Ende, Nusa Tenggara Timur. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pengembangan instrument tes dengan menggunakan review literatur, identifikasi tujuan dan konsep materi, dan expert judgement. Setelah itu, instrument tes diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya serta temuan-temuan masalah dalam hasil pekerjaan siswa untuk dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa instrumen tes yang dikembangkan memiliki validitas dan reliabilitas yang memadai setelah melalui proses revisi. Namun, hasil pekerjaan siswa mengungkapkan beberapa masalah dalam pemahaman konsep, seperti kurangnya ketelitian, kesulitan memahami perintah soal, dan kesalahan dalam menjelaskan konsep tertentu. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa instrumen tes ini dapat digunakan dengan efektif untuk mengukur pemahaman konsep siswa untuk materi bentuk dan operasi aljabar setelah dilakukan perbaikan tertentu.

Self-efficacy is a crucial psychological factor influencing student success, particularly within effective learning strategies. Confidence in one’s abilities affects motivation, engagement, self-regulation, and academic achievement. This research aims to explore the distribution of education types in learning strategies across various countries, investigate key points of self-efficacy in education, define its main categories, and analyze research subject distribution in educational studies. The research methodology used is a systematic literature review (SLR), following PRISMA guidelines and using data from the Scopus database. Of the 40 articles, 16 were selected for further analysis. The findings show that most studies focus on higher education, while primary and secondary education receive less attention. Research is concentrated in countries like Malaysia, Turkey, and Iran. Key results reveal two main categories of self-efficacy: general beliefs and contextual-situational beliefs. The conclusion highlights the need for learning strategies supporting self-efficacy across all educational levels to enhance student learning outcomes.

This paper investigates the connections between the Jacobson graph and the algebraic properties of rings through the analysis of the Jacobson graph of the ring \mathbb{Z}_{3p}, where p is a prime number greater than 3. The Jacobson graph of a commutative ring R is constructed by taking the elements of R, excluding its Jacobson Radical, as vertices, and connecting two distinct vertices if 1 minus their product is not a unit in R. The F-Index is utilized to capture and represent the structural properties of the ring through its associated graph. A detailed examination of the Jacobson Radical, maximal ideals, and vertex degrees in \mathbb{Z}_{3p} leads to the calculation of the F-Index, providing insights into the graphâ€™s connectivity and underlying algebraic structure. This study contributes to the intersection of algebra and graph theory, offering a foundation for further research into more complex algebraic structures.

A considerable body of literature exists pertaining to realistic mathematics education (RME) and its correlation with mathematical literacy, with numerous studies demonstrating incongruent results. The principal objective of this meta-analysis is to systematically investigate the overarching influence of RME on mathematical literacy within the context of Indonesia. The collection of documents comprises a total of seventeen publications that were released between the years 2014 and 2023. The estimation methodologies utilized in this study were grounded on a random-effects model, and statistical computations were conducted utilizing the comprehensive meta-analysis (CMA) software in academic writing. The equation proffered by Hedges was employed for the quantification of effect magnitude. The outcomes of the investigation reveal that the implementation of RME learning yielded a noteworthy and advantageous impact (effect size = 1.031; p 0.05) on the adeptness of students in the domain of mathematical literacy. Moreover, many moderating factors, including class capacity, educational level, geographical location, content of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), and the combination of learning, did not significantly impact students' diverse mathematical literacy proficiency. This study proposes that mathematics educators should consider utilizing the RME as a means of improving students' proficiency in mathematical literacy.

The objective of this study is to shed light on the domain of STEAM education research by employing a three-pronged strategy. This article provides a bibliometric analysis of STEAM education literature by focusing on three major research questions (RQs): RQ1. How has research on STEAM education progressed? RQ2. Who is the most influential in STEAM education research? RQ3. Which affiliations and countries are contributing to STEAM in education? This study combines quantitative analysis with descriptive methods. The evolution of STEAM education and the pattern of publishing found in Scopus, which is determined by research connections, research themes, and scientific journals, are of interest to researchers. Throughout this research, the Bibliometrix R-tool and the BiblioShiny software packages were utilized, one at a time, for data analysis, reduction, visualization, and mapping, respectively. In response to RQ1, this study found the Annual Growth Rate to be 24.19%. This finding is based on the trend of publications in STEAM in Education. The results indicate that there has been an increase in the number of journal articles devoted to this subject, which are frequently disseminated. The second question this research aims to answer is which areas of STEAM education research have the most influence. While Piperopoulos P has the top spot for the most globally mentioned documents, Perignat E holds the top spot for the most locally cited papers. In the meantime, Herro D is a writer who has contributed to the study done in the field of STEAM education. As for RQ3, it can be noted that Jeju National University and the Korea National University of Education are the top two campuses in the world regarding STEAM in Education research publications, both of which are located in South Korea.

This research addresses a gap in previous studies that typically focus on a single education level, lacking comparative analysis across primary to secondary education. The study explores the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) profiles and barriers faced by mathematics teachers at different educational levels. Previous research often lacks an in-depth examination of these barriers in mathematics teaching. The novelty lies in its multi-level comparative approach, offering insights rarely discussed in existing literature. Using mixed methods, including in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, the study provides comprehensive data through triangulation. Findings indicate variations in TPACK skills among mathematics teachers in Banjarmasin. An elementary school teacher exhibited excellent TPACK skills despite insufficient learning documents. A junior high school teacher showed adequate skills but faced similar document preparation issues. A high school teacher displayed excellent skills with complete supporting documents. Differences in TPACK skill profiles stem from barriers such as limited technological access and infrastructure, inadequate training, high workload, teachers' attitudes toward technology, and unsupportive institutional policies. This research underscores the need for tailored interventions to address these barriers and enhance TPACK skills across educational levels.
