Abstract

This article is a literature review article related to Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS)-based learning and its supporting components as one of the efforts in facing current educational challenges. The purpose of this article is to describe higher order thinking learning and it’s supporting components in successful learning. The data collection method used is literature study from various research reference sources and authors. The demand for increasing critical thinking skills can be overcome with real HOTS-based learning. Less than optimal achievement of HOTS-based learning objectives can occur due to lack of attention to supporting components in implementing HOTS-based learning. It is important to know and examine the supporting components in HOTS-based learning, including Teacher Competence, Facilities and Technology, Strategy, Student Motivation. This article provides an overview of how HOTS is applied in learning as well as the important components in the application of HOTS-based learning

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are 21st century skills that can be improved through the use of appropriate learning models and supported by the prior knowledge that students already have. One of the learning models that can improve critical thinking skills is the SET learning model through the Science E-Module. The purpose of this study was to show the effectiveness of the application of SETS-based e-modules in Natural Science (IPA) subjects with the topic of waves and sound to improve students' critical thinking skills. This study used a quantitative descriptive design with one-group pretest-posttest technique. The sample consisted of 29 students from class VIII.C who were selected through cluster sampling. Data were analyzed using the normalized N-gain method and paired sample t-test. The results showed that the average N-gain of students' critical thinking skills after implementing learning through SETS-based science e-modules on wave and sound material was 0.4, including in the medium category. The average critical thinking skills of students after the intervention (72) were significantly higher than before the intervention (51). In addition, students' response to the SETS-based science e-module on wave and sound material resulted in a score of 90.4% which showed very good criteria. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of SETS-based science on wave and sound materials can improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Improving of physics learning process in vocational schools is very urgent to do so that it can improve the problem-solving skills. The purpose of this study was to produce student worksheets based on the engineering design process to practice physics problem-solving skills. This research method is research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE model. The research instruments consisted of learning observation sheets, interview sheets, feasibility & practicality assessment sheets, student response questionnaires, and questions. Product implementation as well as legibility assessment using 10th-grade automotive engineering students. Student worksheets are equipped with assignments to train students' problem-solving skills. To find out the criteria for increasing students' problem-solving abilities, the N-Gain equation is used. The results of the assessment showed that the student worksheets met the criteria of being very eligible (92.67%) and Very Practical (98.20%). Analysis of problem-solving tasks shows an average value of 88.89. As for the test results, it is known that as many as 78% of students are included in the High criteria, and 22% of students are included in the Moderate criteria. The conclusion of the research is that the use of EDP-based student worksheets can improve the problem-solving skills of students.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of El- Student worksheet integrated hidden object games based on the POE model to improve the critical thinking skills and visual representation of high school students. This type of research is research and development (R&D). The development model is 4D (Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate). The trial subjects consisted of 94 students divided into three groups, the experimental, control 1 and control 2 class. Data collection consists of product validation sheets and critical thinking skills and visual representation tests. Student worksheet development software using Live worksheet. Data analysis used SBI for product feasibility and Multivariate Analysis of Variance test. The results showed that El- Student worksheet integrated hidden object game based on the POE model is feasible for physics learning. The average posttest score to improve the critical thinking skills and visual representation of the experimental class was 80.78 and 87.34, while the control class 1 was 79.26 and 79.84, and control class 2 was 79.54 and 76.83. The Multivariate Analysis of Variance test results shows a significant value of 0.000 which is smaller than 0.05 and almost 100% effective contribution. Thus, the product is declared effective for improving students' critical thinking skills visual representation.

Abstract

Differentiated learning is the core of the independent curriculum now. The aim of this research is to develop an instrument for measuring the cognitive learning outcomes of high school students based on differentiated learning on elasticity material and to obtain its characteristics. Differentiation, in this case, is differentiation of student learning styles. The instrument grid is arranged based on indicators of cognitive learning outcomes, which are then used to compile question items. The test instrument consists of two test sets, each of which has 9 items including two anchor items so that the total number of items is 16 items and has been validated by 6 experts. The validated instrument was tested on 252 respondents spread across high schools in the low, medium and high categories. Dichotomous data were analyzed using the Partial Credit Model (PCM). The trial results showed that all 16 items and the differentiated learning-based student cognitive learning outcomes test instrument were proven to be valid, fit the PCM model, and reliable, which means all items were in the good category. Thus, the test instrument developed meets the requirements for measuring the cognitive learning outcomes of high school students on elasticity material based on differentiated learning.

Abstract

Problem-solving skills are needed in the 21st century because, in life, humans will always be faced with problems. One way to solve the problem is through collaboration. This research was done with the purpose of improving students' problem-solving and collaboration skills through problem-based learning e-worksheets. This method in research was research and development through the model by ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The analysis carried out on development is one of validity and practicality. At the implementation stage, problem-based learning e-worksheets were tested in schools to determine the e-worksheets effectiveness. The design in research used was the one-group pretest-posttest design. The research results obtained were: 1) PBL-C physics e-worksheets that were developed fall into the category of valid and practical; 2) PBL-C physics e-worksheets are effective for use in learning to increase problem-solving skills and collaboration of students.
