Abstract

Diarrhea that occurs in the digestive tract is a big problem for human intestinal health. This can be caused by the activity of pathogenic bacteria in the form of Vibrio cholera and Shigella dysinteriae. In this study, kombucha has been shown to have pharmacological activity in vitro in inhibiting the growth of Vibrio cholera and Shigella dysinteriae bacteria at all sugar concentrations. The purpose of this study was to determine the in vitro pharmacological activity of the butterfly pea flower kombucha in inhibiting the growth of the two test bacteria consisting of a sugar concentration of 20%, 30% and 40%. The method for testing the inhibition of both bacterial growth tests is disc diffusion. One way ANOVA and post hoc analysis are one of the quantitative test methods used in this study of the average diameter of the inhibition zone of teal flower kombucha from various sugar concentrations. The results of this study have proven based on a one-way ANOVA with each P value> 0.05 and then continued through post hoc analysis concluded that the telang flower kombucha at a concentration of 40% is the best treatment in inhibiting the growth of both test bacteria where the concentration is significantly different from sugar concentration 20% and 30%.

Abstract

Background: Since the Covid-19 Pandemic hit Indonesia, college students have had many eye health complaints; one is Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). Factors that can increase the risk of CVS are decreased sleep quality, high computer/laptop use duration, and a non-ergonomic position. This study aimed to prove the relationship between sleep quality, visibility, and screen time on the incidence of CVS in medical students of Diponegoro University.Method: This cross-sectional study, including 147 medical students was conducted using primary data from questionnaires of Wendy Strouse Watt, Thomas H Murphy, Hospitality Eye Care Center, and vsp.com to gain data on respondent identity, visibility, and screen time. Sleep quality data were taken from the PSQI and CVS data through the CVS-Q questionnaire. Chi-square, Mann-Whittney, and logistic regression of multivariate analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: From 147 subjects, 108 were CVS (73.5%), and 39 were Non-CVS (26.5%). Variables of sleep quality and screen time (total) showed a significant relationship with CVS, which had p-values of p=0.001 and p=0.009 (p<0.05). As for the visibility to CVS, there was no relationship with p=0.863. In the multivariate test, sleep quality (p=0.000; ExpB=4.342) and total screen time (p=0.006; ExpB=3.913) were the most influential variables. The results showed that Computer Vision Syndrome is ubiquitous among Diponegoro University's final-year medical students. Sleep quality and total screen time can increase the risk of CVS by four times. This study also shows that CVS still appears in the post-pandemic era.

Abstract

This research endeavors to scrutinize the ramifications of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) on the financial performance of companies accredited by the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). GCG functions as a pivotal framework in corporate stewardship, principally aimed at augmenting investor confidence and fostering superior financial outcomes. Employing a quantitative paradigm, this study draws upon secondary data derived from the financial statements and annual reports of IDX-listed corporations spanning the period from 2019 to 2023. The independent variables under examination encompass the proportion of independent commissioners, institutional ownership, and the functionality of the audit committee, whereas the dependent variable, financial performance, is operationalized through Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), and Tobin’s Q. Empirical findings reveal a discernible and significant impact of GCG on corporate financial performance. More precisely, the proportion of independent commissioners and the efficacy of the audit committee exhibit a positive association. with ROA and ROE. Conversely, institutional ownership demonstrates a more nuanced and somewhat inconsistent relationship with the different metrics of financial performance. These insights carry substantial weight for regulatory bodies, corporate leadership, and the investment community, underscoring the imperative to reinforce robust corporate governance practices as a prerequisite for achieving sustainable financial prosperity.

Abstract

Purpose - This study aims to examine the influence of occupational stress on employees' turnover intention at PT IMB Yogyakarta, with perceived labor market condition as a mediating variable. Design/methodology/approach - The approach used in this study is quantitative with a survey method. The research sample consisted of 94 employees at PT IMB Yogyakarta selected using a non probability sampling.technique. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the SmartPLS software. Originality -  This study contributes to the understanding of how occupational stress impacts employees' intention to leave an organization, and how perceived labor market condition plays a role in mediating that relationship, especially within the high-pressure work culture context of a private company. Findings and Discussion - The findings indicate that occupational stress has a positive and significant effect on turnover intention. However, perceived labor market condition also plays an important role by mediating the impact of stress. Employees who perceive that external job opportunities are limited may delay their resignation decisions even under stressful conditions. Conclusion - These results suggest that reducing occupational stress and improving job satisfaction are essential to retaining employees. Additionally, understanding the dynamics of perceived labor market conditions can help companies develop better HR strategies in competitive environments.

Abstract

Stakeholder involvement in tourism development is important in overcoming the limited resources of each actor. Kea-Kea natural tourist attraction in Mangolo Village, Latambaga Sub-district is one of the tourist attractions whose development involves various stakeholders. The purpose of this research is to identify stakeholders and the role of stakeholders involved and the development of Kea-Kea natural attractions. The method used in the research is descriptive qualitative. The results of the study found that the actors involved in the development of tourism objects consisted of the Kolaka Regency Tourism Office and the Natural Resources Conservation Centre (BKSDA) of Southeast Sulawesi Province which were key stakeholders. Then the tourism awareness group (Pokdarwis), companies (business sector), and the community. Pokdarwis is a primary stakeholder while companies and the community are secondary stakeholders. The role of each stakeholder is very strategic in the development of tourism objects. The government and BKSDA play a role in preparing road infrastructure, marketing (promotion), and preserving the nature of tourist attractions. The business sector is involved in providing facilities and infrastructure services. Pokdarwis play a role in maintaining cleanliness, maintaining and repairing supporting facilities for tourist attraction locations, and collecting retribution. However, the contribution of stakeholders in the development of tourism objects has not been maximized due to budget constraints, and lack of stakeholder awareness of the importance of tourism development.
