Abstract

In this study, Fe- and Ag-modified TiO2 nanotubes were synthesized via an anodization method as photocatalysts for degradation of polyethylene microplastics and disinfection of Escherichia coli (E. coli). The anodization voltage, as well as the Fe3+ or Ag+ concentrations on TiO2 nanotubes were evaluated and correlated to their corresponding photocatalytic properties. TiO2 nanotubes were firstly synthesized by anodization of Ti plates in a glycerol-based electrolyte, followed by incorporation of either Fe or Ag via a Successive Ionic Layer Adsorption and Reaction (SILAR) method with Fe(NO3)3 and AgNO3 as Fe and Ag precursors, respectively. UV-Vis DRS shows that the addition of Fe or Ag on TiO2 nanotubes causes a redshift in the absorption spectra. The X-ray diffractograms indicate that, in the case of Fe-modified samples, Fe3+ was successfully incorporated into TiO2 lattice, while Ag scatters around the surface of the tubes as Ag and Ag2O nanoparticles. A microplastic degradation test was carried out for 90 mins inside a photoreactor with UVC illumination. TiO2 nanotubes that are anodized with a voltage of 30 V exhibit the best degradation results with 17.33% microplastic weight loss in 90 mins. Among the modified TiO2 nanotubes, 0.03 M Ag-TiO2 was the only one that surpassed the unmodified TiO2 in terms of microplastic degradation in the water, offering up to 18% microplastic weight loss in 90 min. In terms of E. coli disinfection, 0.03M Ag-TiO2 exhibit better performance than its unmodified counterpart, revealing 99.999% bactericidal activities in 10 mins. Abstract

This research aims to decompose the employment participation rate to explain gender gap in DKI Jakarta Province in three periods (1995, 2005, and 2015). Determinant of employment participation rate of men and women was estimated by probit regression model and marginal effect. Non-linear decomposition technique used to analyze the source of gender gap. The results show that the main cause of gender gap comes from structural factors in the labor market (discrimination). The value of the gender gap in 20 years has decreased, in 1995, 2005, and 2015 it was 40,82%; 39,17%; and 29,34% respectively. It shows that the discrimnination rate in Jakarta has decreased.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of spatial dependence on Indonesia’s regional economic growth based on panel data of all provinces in Indonesia during 1990–2015. By using spatial Durbin model, the authors found that spatial dependence plays an important role in achieving regional economic growth in Indonesia. Indonesia’s regional economic growth model that controls spatial dependence, yields better estimates than growth model that does not control spatial dependence. The researchers also found positive spatial spillover to Indonesia’s regional economic growth sourced from other region’s economic growth and initial per capita incomes, as well as population growth in other regions.

Abstract

Pro-poor growth program has not been effective reducing poverty in Papua because the government does not have complete information about the spatial variation of poverty-causing factors (spatial heterogeneity). Therefore, this study will analyze poverty-causing factors using Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) model. This study finds that the influence of the cultivated land area, use of technical irrigation, source of drinking water, and the electrical infrastructure vary spatially. In additions, multivariate K-means clustering shows that subdistricts are spatially clustered by geographical conditions. These results imply that poverty alleviation interventions should be different for different areas.

Abstract

This paper aims to reveal the behavior and perception of Jakarta's citizens on traffic congestion in Jakarta. Although this approach is somewhat well-developed in behavioral science, its utilization in urban economics study, is still limited. Detecting the traffic congestion and its cause mainly relies on physical (engineering) methods, i.e V/C ratio. Here, we define the traffic congestion through two variables; ordinal traffic congestion perception and proportion of expected travel time to perceived travel time. Using a non-probabilistic sampling survey held in one of densest business district in Jakarta called Sudirman-Thamrin Golden Triangle Area; the estimation results show that travel behavior plays a major role in affecting travel time perceptions.

Abstract

This research aims to find out Cultural Literacy in Learning Listening Skills containing Wisdom and find out how to integrate Cultural Literacy in Learning Listening Skills containing Local Wisdom. National literacy can be tried with educational sessions that can be developed into a cultural literacy. Cultural literacy is tried by increasing literacy activities that use topics about culture and text sources on cultural topics. Cultural competency can be included in all existing scientific disciplines. Local wisdom is a form of activity that is preserved and passed down from generation to generation within a community group. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive with the research subjects used in this research being people or objects that can provide information in the form of data that is needed. The subjects in this research are the local wisdom of Rejang Lebong and kepahiang. The result of this research is to produce cultural values and goals in the form of listening videos based on local wisdom which have implications for the learning process that supports increasing accreditation scores.

Abstract

The emergence of Covid-19 cases over the past few years has altered the previously established socioeconomic structure. The government must keep a close eye on changes in the culture of tax compliance, as tax revenues are the keystone of the government's ability to carry out its functions. Because the government finances many social and health initiatives during the pandemic through the contribution of tax revenues, it is pertinent to examine the motivation to pay taxes among recipients of the Article 21 Income Tax borne by the government. Using quantitative descriptive statistics, this study examines intrinsic motivation, perceptions of the worthiness of public expenditures, and tax fairness in the context of the Jakarta region, Indonesia. In addition to providing the motives for paying taxes, this study emphasizes the significance of the efficiency of government expenditures.

Abstract

AbstractRivers in Indonesia are heavily polluted by unmanaged municipal solid waste (MSW) which affects their capacity as drinking water, power, and irrigation sources. This research aimed to analyze the effect of MSW types and contact time on the dynamics of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and ammonia in the waterthat was traced over two weeks period in a batch reactor filled with Ciliwung River organic and inorganic MSW samples. Then, the MSW degradation rates to COD and ammonia (k1) were mathematically analyzed by using the mass balance principle. The results showed that for organic MSW, there were rapid increasesin COD and ammonia concentrations on the first 6 days of the experiment and followed by steady decreases. In contrast, for inorganic MSW, overall steady trends were observed for both COD and Ammonia. The analysis of the degradation rate showed that the values of K1 for COD in organic MSW was ranging from3.841 to 4.655 /day, 10-30 times higher than those of inorganic MSW values, which ranged from 0.122 to 0.425 /day. For ammonia, the values of k1 for organic MSW ranged from 0.0021 to 0.0028 /day, about two times higher than those of inorganic MSW values ranging from 0.001-0.0014 /day. Findings in this studyoffer opportunities to model and simulate COD and Ammonia dynamics in surface water due to MSW contamination. Keywords: COD, ammonia, degradation, solid waste, time effect
