This research aims to know the effectiveness addition of purple sweet potatoes extract and skim milk to sweet corn yoghurt’s lactic acid and pH by using Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium sp. The research held in Biological Laboratory of Educational Faculty and Chemical Laboratory Of Result and Fishery of Riau University. Research design has been used was factorial completed randomized design (RAL factorial) which consisted of two factor. First factor is the addition of purple sweet potatoes extract with concentration are 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and second factor is skim milk with concentration are 0%, 3%, 5%, 7%. Parameter of research consisted of lactic acid and pH which analysed by using the ANAVA and continued with DMRT level 5%. The result showed that the addition of purple sweet potatoes extract and skim milk affected sweet corn yoghurt’s lactic acid and pH significantly. The combination of purple sweet potatoes extract and skim milk addition most effective at U15S5 (purple sweet potatoes extract 15%, skim milk 5%) with lactic acid 1.216% and pH 3,623.Keywords : Yoghurt, Lactic Acid, pH.

The ex-situ experimental research on root growth of rubber (Hevea brasiliensis Mull. Arg. clone PB 260) cultivated in ex-mining bauxite soil byapplication of organic manure has been carried out at Natural Biology Education Laboratory University of Riau during January to June 2013. The purpose of this research was looked for a kind and mixture organic manure ratio to the ex -mining bauxite soil that gave the best root growth. The chicken and cow manure were used as source of organic matter in this single faktor experiment. Three ratios of organic manure : ex-mining bauxite soil (w/w) has been applied i.e control (exmining bauxite soil only), (1:1), and (1:2) were arranged according to Complete Randomize Design. The parameters that observed were root volume, wet weight of root, dry weight of root, shoot : root ratio. The data were analyzed by using one-way ANOVA and advance test by using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) in level of 5%. The results show that the mixture ratio 1:2 of cow organic manure and ex-mining bauxite soil gave the best root growth of rubber clone PB 260, particularly root volume (24,8 cm3), wet weight of root (24,2 g), dry weight of root (5,6 g) and shoot : root ratio (19,1 g). In conclusion, the mixture ratio 1:2 of cow manure and ex-mining bauxite is recommended for reclaiming bauxite ex-mining land by planting rubber plant PB 260 in term of root growth.Keywords : chicken and cow organic manure, ex-mining bauxite soil, Hevea brasiliensis Mull. The research done to know bacteria type capable to fasten heavy metal lead (Pb) at sediment in territorial water of Siak River Research procedure consist o f three phase that is; (1) Intake o f sediment sampel by purposive sampling random; (2) Isolation by grow sediment sampel at medium of Zobell 2216 E added with PbNO3 and of Pb(CH3COOH)2 ; (3) Total count of bacteria and identification pursuant to morphology form and biochemical test which cover; colony form, colony colour, colony size measure, cell form, coloration of gram, test katalase, test oksidase and methyl red Result of research indicate that total count of bacteria fastener o f heavy metal of lead (Pb) at sediment in territorial water o f Siak River range from 3,0 X 107 until 1,5 X 10s cell/ml and identified 6 bacterium type fastener of heavy metal of lead (Pb) that is: Micrococcuc, Corynebacterium, Phenylobacterium, Enhydrobacter, Morrcoccuss, Flavobacterium. POTENSI GETAH BUAH PEPAYA (Carica papaya L) TERHADAP MORTALITAS LARVA NYAMUK Aedes albopictus Sri Wulandari; Arnentis '; Sri Rahayu

A research was conducted to find out the effect of papaya latex (Carica papaya L) toward the mortality of Aedes albopictus larva, in Laboratory of Biology Faculty of Education Teacher Training and Education University of Riau in November 2011 to April 2012. The method used in this research was experimental method to the preparation of a random sample consisting of 5 treatments which are repeated for 3 times. The number of larva are 10. Parameter observed is Aedes albopictus larva mortality as long as 96 hours, LC50 value and toxic response of Aedes albopictus larva which could be showed by body movement, posture and body color of larva. The data of this research was analyzed by probit and deskriptif analysis. The supporting parameters is temperature and pH of the medium. The results of the research showed that the papaya latex (Carica papaya L) could make the mortality of Aedes albopictus larva. Mortality of Aedes albopictus larva in concentration 27 ppm was 100% in 24 hours, in concentration 18 ppm was 100% in 72 hours, mortality of Aedes albopictus larva in concentration 12 ppm and 8 ppm was 80% and 50% in 96 hours. LC50 value in 24 hours was 26.30 ppm, in 48 hours was 20.41 ppm, in 72 hours was 14.12 ppm and 96 hours was 9.12 ppm. The roxic response of Aedes albopictus larva showed the mobility of the less agile, larva body roll, the larva's body parallel to the surface of the water and the color of pale white body. From the result of the research can be concluded that the papaya latex can potentially lead to death of Aedes albopictus larva and the concentration recommended for application to the environment is 9.12 ppm in 96 hours.Keywords: Aedes albopictus larva, Papaya late.

ABSTRACT Do research on the effectiveness of the addition of chitosan mengetaui shells on the quality of salted mackerel (Rastrelliger sp) to draft a student worksheet that was conducted in April and May 2016. The study was carried out by two phases: the field research and resistant design student worksheet (LKS ). Research experiments were conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) non factorial, consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replicates in order to obtain 15 units of the experimental design. The observed parameters including moisture content, protein content, fat content and organoleptic value which include appearance, aroma, taste and texture. The results showed that the addition of shrimp shell chitosan significant effect on water content, protein content and fat content in the salted mackerel (Rastrelliger sp). Where to lower the moisture content of up to 9.545%, fat content up to 1,543% and can also increase the protein content of up to 48.905%. While hendonik organoleptic test appearance and taste of the most favored panelist on the addition of 3% chitosan concentration, aroma on chitosan 2% and while the texture preferred chitosan panelist at 4%. Results from the study are used as a design student worksheet (LKS) on the subjects of biology in high school. Key words: Chitosan, Salted Mackerel Fish, Student Worksheet.

Action research has been conducted with the implementation of inquiry - based learning strategies in the implementation of applied biology laboratory activity and to improve student learning outcomes . The experiment was conducted in the second semester of academic year 2012/2013 in the Biology Faculty of Teacher education Program UR . Subjects were students take courses in Applied Biology with a number of 52 students ( 10 men and 42 women ) . Parameters measured were activities in practicum and student learning outcomes . The study consisted of 2 cycles with 6 meetings . The data were analyzed descriptively . The results show there is an increase in activity and student learning outcomes from the first cycle to the second cycle . Student activity in cycle 1 : submit ideas , doing experiments , working together , observations classified as category very well , whereas hypothesize , ask and make conclusions either classified category . While on cycle 2 activity categories well and asking other classified categories classified as very good . Learning outcomes in cycle 1 is very good very good category 17 students ( 32.69 % ) and second cycle increased to 31 students ( 59.61 % ) . Overall the implementation of inquiry -based learning can enhance the activity and student learning outcomes in the practicum course in the second semester of Applied Biology academic year 2012/2013 in Biology Education Riau University.Keywords : Botany , inquiry

The effect of Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA) and Benzyl Adenine (BA) of concentration of leaf eksplan Citrus sinensis L. by in vitro was studied at tissue culture laboratory of Balai Benih Induk Pekanbaru, The experiment was conducted using Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with three replicates. The treatment consist of A (without NAA and BA), B (0,1 ppm NAA and 0,1 ppm BA), C (1 ppm NAA and 0,1 ppm BA), D (10 ppm NA and 0,1 ppm BA), E (0,1 ppm NAA and 1 ppm BA). F (1 ppm NAA and 1 ppm BA). G (10 ppm NAA and 1 ppm BA), H (0,1 ppm NAA and 10 ppm BA), I (1 ppm NAA and 10 ppm BA) and J (10 ppm NAA and 10 ppm BA),The results of this experiment showed that respond growth of good leaf eksplan. NAA and BA at concentration 0,1; 1 and 10 ppm can yield forming o f root and callus can’t forming of buds. Callus initiation and root quickest of concentration 10 ppm NAA and 0,1 ; 1; 10 BA ppm that is 10,00 and 14,66. Amount root o f concentration 1 ppm NAA and 10 ppm BA is 29,66 and wet weight of callus high at gave of concentration 10 ppm NA and 10 ppm BA is 0,25 gr. ABSTRACT This research was aimed at studying the identification of bacteria from the liquid waste of petroleum from August to October 2014. The result of research was used to development a learning module in basic microbiology course. This research was implemented in 2 steps, they are Laboratory research and development a learning module by use of ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) development. Isolation of bacteria was under taken using thinning methods (platting methods) grown at solid media Stone Mineral Salt Solution Extract Yeast (SMSSe) added with crude oil as selective media. Colonies observed on the media after incubation on the temperature 28-300C for 24-48 hours were identified based on macroscopic observations, microscopic and biochemical tests to ensure that the bacteria identified was absolutely petroleum bacteria. The research result carried out 3 genera of bacteria namely Enterobacter, Pseudomonas and Klebsiella. The result of research is developed as learning module in the concept of prokaryot to enrich teaching materials in basic microbiology course. Key words: Identification, SMSSe Media, Learning Module

Arboretum as Carbon Stock and Carbon dioxide Uptake to Support the Realization of Green Campus at Riau University Sri Wulandari

The University of Riau Arboretum is one of the natural environments contained within the campus, having various types of vegetation that can be utilized to support the realization of a green campus. This study aims to determine the benefits of arboretum as carbon reserves and CO2 uptake to support the realization of Riau University's green campus. Research using survey methods by observing in the arboretum. Determination of sampling locations by purposive random sampling by considering the condition of vegetation and topography. Research parameters are: (1) vegetation analysis; (2) carbon stocks and (3) CO2 uptake. The University of Riau Arboretum has a vegetation composition in all strata, namely seedlings, saplings, poles and trees. The number of individual seedlings is higher than other strata, namely 349 individuals. Diversity index in all strata classified as high criteria ranged from 3.22 to 3.42. The total carbon stock of 1.12 tons / ha and CO2 absorption of 4.11 tons / ha, with the arboretum of Riau University (± 10 ha), the CO2 absorption that occurs is 41.1 tons. Thus the existence of arboretum can be used to further optimize its function as carbon reserves and CO2 absorption in realizing the green campus program of the University of Riau.Arboretum

The research purpose is to increase the students activities and geography learning result by using video visual media of learning, The method of this research is quasi experiments. The subjects of this research are the students of social grade, State Senior High School SMAN 1 Kedondong. Object of research is video visual media to increase activites and result study. Data collection techniques using tests and documentation. Research use T test to analysis data. The mean value of posttest of learning result of geography in the experimental class is higher than the control class, The method used in this study is a quasi experiment (Quasi Eksperimen), it is known that the experimental learning exhaustive = 86.84% greater than the learning control class mastery = 57.5%.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas dan hasil belajar geografi siswa melalui penggunakan media pembelajaran video visual, Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu. Subyek penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas X IPS SMAN 1 Kedondong. Objek penelitian adalah media video visual untuk meningkatkan efektivitas dan hasil belajar siswa, teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes dan dokumentasi. Analisi data menggunakan Uji T. Nilai rerata pretest hasil belajar geografi antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol tidak berbeda, Nilai rerata posttest hasil belajar geografi pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol, Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini eksperimen semu (Quasi Eksperimen). diketahui bahwa ketuntasan belajar kelas eksperimen = 86,84 % lebih besar dari ketuntasan belajar kelas kontrol = 57,5 %,Kata Kunci: Efektivitas belajar, hasil belajar, media video visual
