Abstract

Geographical Indication (GI) products hold significant potential for enhancing local economies and global market presence. However, GI products from Temanggung, Indonesia, face unique legal and competitive challenges that hinder their global competitiveness. This paper addresses the urgent need to bolster the international market position of Temanggung’s GI products through effective legal strategies and advocacy. The research is novel in its dual approach of combining legal analysis with strategic advocacy, focusing on a specific regional context that has received limited attention in existing literature. It examines the international and national legal frameworks affecting GI products, identifying gaps and proposing enhancements to strengthen legal protections and align with global standards. Additionally, the paper explores innovative advocacy methods to increase awareness and marketability, including strategic marketing, education, and stakeholder partnerships. The contribution of this research lies in its comprehensive analysis of both legal and advocacy dimensions, providing actionable recommendations for improving the competitiveness of Temanggung’s GI products. By addressing legal vulnerabilities and advocating for effective promotion, the paper offers a roadmap for policymakers, legal professionals, and local producers to enhance the global presence of Temanggung’s GI products. The findings aim to inspire similar strategies for other regions facing comparable challenges, ultimately contributing to the broader discourse on GI protection and market strategies. This research is crucial for addressing immediate challenges and leveraging the full potential of GI products in a competitive global marketplace.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the awareness and understanding of teachers at Labschool UNNES regarding the importance of excellent education services as an integral part of realizing the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). The background of this activity is based on the results of initial surveys and observations, which show that some teachers have not fully understood or optimally implemented the principles of excellent education and the values in P5. Therefore, this activity was designed in the form of training and mentoring using a participatory approach. The methods used included interactive lectures, group discussions, and hands-on practice in learning development and implementation. During the activity, there was an increase in teachers' awareness through active involvement in the training process, reflection on their learning practices, and improvements in planning and teaching strategies that are more oriented towards Pancasila values. Nevertheless, challenges in classroom implementation are still encountered, especially regarding consistency and adaptation to students' needs. Therefore, further efforts are needed in the form of continuous mentoring and cooperation between stakeholders so that the expected educational transformation can be realized thoroughly and sustainably. ABSTRAKKegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan pemahaman para guru di Labschool UNNES mengenai pentingnya layanan pendidikan prima sebagai bagian integral dalam mewujudkan Proyek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5). Latar belakang kegiatan ini didasarkan pada hasil survei dan observasi awal yang menunjukkan bahwa sebagian guru belum sepenuhnya memahami maupun mengimplementasikan prinsip-prinsip pendidikan prima dan nilai-nilai dalam P5 secara optimal. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan ini dirancang dalam bentuk pelatihan dan pendampingan yang menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif. Metode yang digunakan mencakup ceramah interaktif, diskusi kelompok, serta praktik langsung dalam pengembangan dan pelaksanaan pembelajaran. Selama kegiatan berlangsung, terlihat peningkatan kesadaran guru melalui keterlibatan aktif dalam proses pelatihan, refleksi atas praktik pembelajaran mereka, dan perbaikan dalam perencanaan serta strategi mengajar yang lebih berorientasi pada nilai-nilai Pancasila. Meskipun demikian, tantangan dalam implementasi di kelas masih dijumpai, terutama terkait konsistensi dan adaptasi terhadap kebutuhan siswa. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan upaya lanjutan berupa pendampingan berkelanjutan dan kerja sama antar pemangku kepentingan, agar transformasi pendidikan yang diharapkan dapat terwujud secara menyeluruh dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Irregular Indonesian migrant workers are a vulnerable group frequently subjected to human trafficking due to their undocumented and unlawful departure processes. Their absence from the official labor placement system leaves them outside the scope of state protection and exposes them to various forms of exploitation. This study aims to analyze the legal framework and implementation of protection for irregular Indonesian migrant workers as victims of human trafficking, as well as to identify the key obstacles hindering the effectiveness of such protection. Employing a normative juridical method, this research uses statutory and case-based approaches. The findings indicate that while Indonesia has established a relatively comprehensive legal framework through Law No. 18 of 2017 and Law No. 21 of 2007, its implementation remains suboptimal, particularly in reaching undocumented victims. Substantive, institutional, and socio-cultural barriers continue to undermine equitable protection efforts. Therefore, a holistic approach grounded in non-discrimination and victimology principles, along with strengthened cross-sectoral coordination, is essential to ensure the realization of victims’ rights in a meaningful and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This paper explores the complex landscape of religious freedom in Russia and Indonesia, despite constitutional guarantees in both nations. In Russia, historical legacies and state control have led to restrictions on religious pluralism, particularly affecting minority faiths and dissenting voices. The Orthodox Church's influence and government policies often contradict formal protections, creating a paradoxical environment. Similarly, in Indonesia, despite its religious diversity, state regulations, societal norms, and religious identity intersect to challenge genuine religious freedom. Discrimination and persecution against religious minorities persist amidst political interests and cultural tensions. This discourse analyzes the underlying factors contributing to this paradoxical situation, emphasizing historical contexts, political dynamics, and socio-cultural complexities. It underscores the need for nuanced approaches beyond legal frameworks to address deeper societal attitudes and power structures. By reflecting on these cases, this discourse prompts broader discussions on global religious freedom, advocating for genuine respect for religious diversity as a fundamental aspect of democracy and human rights. Understanding the complexities in Russia and Indonesia illuminates the challenges and opportunities for advancing religious freedom globally.

Abstract

This study examines juvenile justice systems through a comparative analysis between Indonesian State Law and Islamic Law, focusing on the treatment and legal protection of juvenile offenders. The Indonesian legal framework, which follows a secular approach, offers specific regulations for juvenile justice under the Juvenile Justice System Law (No. 11 of 2012). This law emphasizes rehabilitation and diversion, ensuring that juvenile offenders are treated differently from adults, with a focus on reintegration into society. In contrast, Islamic law, rooted in the principles of Sharia, offers a distinct approach to juvenile justice. While Islamic law does not have a unified legal code for juvenile offenders, its application emphasizes the protection of minors from harsh punishments and prioritizes their rehabilitation. Islamic legal scholars agree on the importance of age and maturity in determining the level of responsibility for a juvenile’s actions. The concept of "ta'zir" (discretionary punishment) plays a significant role in ensuring that juvenile offenders are treated with fairness, aiming at their moral and social reform. This comparative study highlights the similarities and differences between the two legal systems in addressing juvenile crime, considering the broader cultural and legal contexts that shape juvenile justice policies in Indonesia and Islamic law. The paper explores how these legal frameworks balance punishment with rehabilitation and the role of community involvement in reforming juvenile offenders. The study contributes to understanding the potential for cross-jurisdictional insights in improving juvenile justice practices, emphasizing the need for a more unified and human-centric approach in dealing with young offenders.

Abstract

This study investigates the alleged corruption involving oil importation by Pertamina Patra Niaga, a subsidiary of Indonesia’s state-owned energy giant, through a juridical analysis grounded in the Anti-Corruption Law (UU Tipikor) and the newly revised Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP Baru). The research aims to explore how current legal frameworks respond to complex corporate corruption schemes, particularly in the energy sector, which plays a critical role in national economic stability and sovereignty. Using a normative legal method with a statutory and case-based approach, this study examines the legal classification, potential liability, and gaps in enforcement related to the alleged misconduct. It also evaluates the interplay between corporate responsibility and individual accountability under both the old and new legal regimes. Findings suggest that while the UU Tipikor provides a robust foundation for prosecuting corruption, the KUHP Baru introduces nuanced provisions that could either strengthen or complicate efforts to hold corporate actors accountable contribution of this research lies in its critical assessment of the effectiveness and limitations of Indonesian anti-corruption legislation in addressing large-scale, state-linked economic crimes. By dissecting the legal implications of the Pertamina Patra Niaga case, this study provides actionable insights for law enforcement agencies, policymakers, and legal scholars in designing more transparent, enforceable mechanisms for combating corruption in strategic sectors. Ultimately, it underscores the urgent need for aligning regulatory practice with the evolving complexities of corporate crime in Indonesia’s energy landscape.

Abstract

Abstract: Abuse of power for the sake of business and trade profit has become an increasingly average occurrence in the practice of public procurement in this era of moral disruption. It is commonplace that government officials make an illicit arrangement with companies through bribery scheme to win tenders in the procurement of goods and services. This practice resulted in a shift of ideology and abuse of authority by government officials. This practice is contrary to the professional code of ethics, so it is necessary to settle such cases through juridical channels. The intervention of public officials in determining the award of contracts of government projects to certain parties has resulted in a crisis of public trust in law enforcement in Indonesia. This article reviews the basic principles of the criminal act of corruption and the commitment and integrity of government officials in implementing the professional code of ethics, and upholding honesty in order to achieve equitable law enforcement. This paper proves and confirms that the abuse of power by government officials for the sake of business profit in the public procurement has weakened Indonesia’s investment sector. In many cases, these activities may even lead to unfair competition in the trade and business sectors.Abstrak: Memperdagangkan otoritas guna melancarkan praktik bisnis dan perdagangan merupakan hal yang banyak terjadi di era disrupsi moral ini. Para pejabat pemerintah sering kali bekerja sama dengan para pengusaha dengan cara membantu memberikan stimulus berupa kemenangan tender dalam pengadaan barang dan jasa. Praktik tersebut mengakibatkan terjadinya penyalahgunaan wewenang oleh para pejabat pemerintah. Hal ini bertentangan dengan kode etik profesi, sehingga diperlukan penyelesaian perkara melalui jalur yuridis. Adanya intervensi pejabat publik dalam penetapan pihak yang menangani proyek pemerintah menyebabkan terjadinya krisis kepercayaan publik terhadap penegakan hukum di Indonesia. Artikel ini menelaah ulang dasar pokok aturan-aturan tentang tindak pidana korupsi serta bagaimana komitmen dan integritas para pejabat pemerintah dalam melaksanakan kode etik profesi, menjunjung tinggi kejujuran guna mewujudkan penegakan hukum yang adil. Tulisan ini membuktikan dan menegaskan bahwa perdagangan otoritas dalam praktik bisnis melemahkan sektor investasi Indonesia. Pada banyak kasus, kegiatan ini bahkan cenderung memperkuat kondisi persaingan tidak sehat dalam sektor perdagangan dan bisnis.

Abstract

This paper investigates the role of Pancasila-based legal education through the Street Law model in advocating for social transformation and fostering nationalism among youth in Kenteng Village. As Indonesia strives to strengthen its national identity, particularly among younger generations, integrating Pancasila— the nation’s foundational ideology— into legal education becomes essential. The study outlines a community-driven program that engages university students and local youth in interactive legal workshops, promoting awareness of rights, responsibilities, and civic engagement rooted in Pancasila values. Through participatory methods, the program encourages youth to actively engage in discussions about legal issues and national identity, thereby enhancing their understanding of Indonesian democracy and governance. The findings reveal that this approach not only cultivates a sense of nationalism among participants but also empowers them to become advocates for their communities. Participants reported increased confidence in navigating legal matters and a stronger commitment to civic involvement. This research highlights the importance of advocacy in legal education as a catalyst for social change, demonstrating that the Street Law model can effectively bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application in the community. Ultimately, the paper argues for broader implementation of Pancasila-based legal education programs across Indonesia, suggesting that such initiatives can play a vital role in nurturing a generation of informed and engaged citizens dedicated to the ideals of Pancasila.

Abstract

Indonesia’s post-conflict regions, such as Aceh, Poso, and Papua, continue to confront the legacies of violence, trauma, and contested historical narratives. In these areas, history education holds significant potential for promoting reconciliation and preventing the recurrence of conflict. This study examines the role of history teachers in integrating peace education within the broader frameworks of legal strategies and advocacy in Indonesian post-conflict settings. Drawing on qualitative research, including in-depth interviews with educators, civil society actors, and local government representatives, the paper explores how history teachers navigate sensitive political and historical issues in classrooms marked by ethnic, religious, and ideological divisions. The study highlights how legal frameworks such as human rights education, truth-seeking efforts, and transitional justice initiatives—though limited in formal policy—are informally adopted by educators through civil society-led training and community advocacy. Findings suggest that when adequately supported, history teachers in Indonesia can act as frontline peacebuilders, helping students develop critical thinking, historical empathy, and a commitment to nonviolence. Moreover, advocacy networks play a crucial role in enabling educators to address topics such as mass violence, displacement, and state-perpetrated injustice in ways that foster healing rather than deepen polarization. By contextualizing peace education within Indonesia’s unique socio-political landscape, this paper contributes to the global discourse on post-conflict education and provides practical pathways for integrating historical accountability into curriculum and teacher training programs.
