Abstract

Objective: Physics learning on sound wave topics, particularly open-pipe organ systems, is often perceived as abstract due to the limited availability of contextual and meaningful learning media. This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility of the BASA Booklet (Bamboo Acoustic STEM Approach) as a physics learning medium that integrates the STEM approach, gamification, and ethnophysics through the local wisdom context of bamboo flute instruments. Method: This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using a modified Borg and Gall development model, implemented up to the main field-testing stage. The research subjects consisted of physics teachers and pre-service physics teachers as potential users of the developed media. Data were collected using feasibility questionnaires that assessed media design, learning content, and gamification aspects, and were analyzed descriptively. Results:   The results of the main field testing indicate that the BASA Booklet received positive responses across all evaluated aspects, demonstrating that the developed media is conceptually and pedagogically feasible. Respondents perceived the booklet as visually engaging, easy to use, and supportive of independent and structured learning, particularly for abstract physics concepts related to sound waves and open-pipe organ principles.  Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in the development of a culture-based, gamified STEM booklet grounded in ethnophysics, which integrates local cultural contexts into physics learning. This model offers an alternative approach to making abstract physics concepts more contextual, meaningful, and relevant. Nevertheless, further studies are required to examine the classroom implementation and effectiveness of the BASA Booklet.

Abstract

Physics education often struggles to convey abstract concepts like static fluids, leading to low student interest and achievement. This study aims to develop an ethnophysics-based E-LKPD (Electronic Student Worksheet) that integrates physics with local culture, specifically the traditional process of making Siwalan dawet ice from Lamongan. The E-LKPD is designed to enhance learning motivation through an engaging, interactive edutainment approach. Using the ADDIE development model, only the Analyze, Design, and Development stages were conducted. This was due not only to time constraints but also because the research focused on product design and expert validation. Classroom implementation and evaluation were beyond the current research scope and are planned for future studies. Validation involved three expert lecturers who assessed presentation, content, and language using a Likert scale. Results indicated a very valid product, with an overall average score of 95.75% (presentation 91.75%, content 98.06%, language 97.22%). The E-LKPD was developed using the Liveworksheets platform, offering features like ElsQuiz, ElsAct, ElsLink, and ElsFo to promote interactivity and accessibility. Findings suggest that integrating ethnophysics and local culture into digital worksheets effectively improves student motivation in learning static fluid concepts.

Abstract

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an approach that enables individuals to gain formal acknowledgement of competencies acquired through non-formal education. For higher education institutions, particularly private universities, effective RPL management can broaden access to education for a broader population. However, limited understanding and resources often hinder the optimal implementation of RPL in private institutions. This community service activity aims to enhance the RPL management capacity of private universities in Kediri through comprehensive training and mentoring. Survey results indicate that private university managers require further training in technical, managerial, and promotional aspects of RPL. Additionally, there is a need to integrate nationalistic values into the RPL program to strengthen students' character. Through a holistic approach, this activity provides recommendations for additional training in assessment methods, RPL promotion, and policy implementation based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The outcomes of this activity are expected to support private universities in improving the quality of RPL services, contributing to more inclusive and high-quality access to higher education.

Abstract

Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) evaluates education systems in participating countries. Junior high school students are tested in math, science, and reading for the PISA Scientific Literacy test. This study contrasts the PISA Science Framework 2018 and 2025. This literature research uses systematic Literature Review (SLR) and bibliometric analysis. The method finds, reviews, evaluates, and interprets all research related to scientific literacy, PISA Framework 2018 and 2025, and its impact on Physics Education. The research used the Scopus database to find PISA Science Framework-related scientific articles. Results showed that PISA Framework 2025 evolves science literacy and scientific information function. The language is simplified to be more coherent by emphasizing the main idea of science. Procedural and epistemic knowledge are expanded and clarified. The finding is also supported by VOSviewer visualization of data results. This framework implies that physics education will assess students' understanding of fundamental physics principles and their rationality in applying them, including decision-making. In conclusion, the PISA Science Framework 2018 needs to be updated to the PISA Framework 2025 by the OECD to accommodate the students' needs in this era.
