Abstract

The purpose of this research to analyze profile students’ problem solving skill and the implementation of assisted guided inquiry at senior high school. The type of research is used the preliminary research method with data collection techniques such as tests and questionnaires. The data are obtained, analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results of this study show that only a few students can work on the material using problem-solving strategies (A-Assessing the problem (identifying principles to be used in problem-solving), C-create a drawing (translating words in the form of pictures containing about problem-solving instructions), C-conceptualize strategy (outlining the steps that will be used in solving the problem), E-executing the solution (applying the formula to solve the problem by the steps) and finally S-scrutinize the result (giving a level of confidence and give a reason) in solving dynamic electricity problems. Totally of the students, five students had low problem-solving skills, and 25 students who had moderate problem-solving skills. Totally of the students, five students had low problem-solving skills, and 25 students who had moderate problem-solving skills. The lowest problem-solving strategy value is at point S (scrutinize the result). Implementation of learning models provided is not ideal so that it causes students to be less active so that problem-solving skills are lacking and no laboratory supports the learning process. Students are not introduced to the existence of a virtual laboratory (PhET) as a laboratory replacement. So to improve students' problem-solving skills required appropriate learning methods.

Abstract

Social distancing and physical distancing policies have been implemented in many countries for some time in the face of a COVID-19 pandemic. The new policy that has been adopted by many countries is "New Normal". New Normal is a scenario to accelerate the handling of COVID-19 in health and socio-economic aspects. One of them is the Government of Indonesia has announced plans to implement new normal scenarios by considering epidemiological studies and regional readiness. With the implementation of New Normal, education will be run again according to the health protocol. New Normal policies in education must also be in line with instructions issued by The United Nations Agency for Child Welfare (UNICEF). UNICEF has issued guidelines for countries that want to reopen teaching and learning activities in schools. The guide consists of three stages, namely before opening, entering the opening process, and when opening has been carried out. Research on the planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of New Normal in the field of learning and teaching needs the attention of all parties, including academics. The results of research and publications on the impact of New Normal in the field of learning and teaching are believed to be beneficial in the field of education.

The research used is preliminary. This study uses the method of applying the ACCES problem-solving skill level criteria (A-Assen the problem, C-Create a drawing, C-Conceptualize the strategy, E-Execute the solution, S-Scritinize your Desult), with 101 students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Now. Data were obtained by using problem-solving tests, questionnaires, and interviews with students and teachers of physics subjects. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner. The results of the study: (1) Based on the results of the problem-solving tests that students have in the low category with a score range of 0 to 10, 87 students, 12 students in the medium category with a score range of 11 to 20, and 2 students in the high category with a score range of 21. up to 30. (2) Based on the results of the questionnaire on student learning experiences and teacher performance in delivering physics learning in class, it can be seen that: (a) students do not like physics subjects, (b) teachers often teach using the lecture method, rarely use other learning media, (c) students have difficulty working on the problem-solving skills test. (3) results Based on teacher and student interviews, it can be seen that problem-solving in physics is important to know. According to students, the obstacles in improving problem-solving skills were due to a lack of interest in physics subjects, and the characteristics of physics subjects were quite complicated. Likewise, the teacher's response cannot be made well because of student interest, so that improving problem-solving skills cannot be done effectively and can only be done in certain classes. Thus, it can be said that the problem-solving skill profile based on the ACCES criteria in class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sekaran can be categorized as low and difficult to train.

Abstract

This article is the result of a book review of a work by Stefano Gattei. The starting point of Popper's view is that "almost every phase of our scientific development is under metaphysical rule, that is, ideas that are tested, ideas which determine not only what problems we need to explain, but also what kinds of answers we will consider to be one that is important or satisfactory or accepted, and as a remedy, or guarantee, of a previous answer". Popper's indeterminism is important because Popper's custom begins by considering an intuitive Laplacian view of determinism: "the world is like a motion picture film: or a projected image. Parts of the film have proved to be the past. And unproven people are the past. front". Popper has always been claimed to be a metaphysical realist: to him, to be a realist means to think, in covenant with common sense, that the world of his existence is independent of human beings. It means, "my existence will end without the world coming to an end too". As well as other metaphysical positions, realism is a non-testable conjecture: "realism is neither proven nor disproved".
