Abstract

Abstract This study explores the application of learning theories, behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and humanism, in the development of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum as an effort to create an effective and meaningful Islamic learning process. Using a qualitative library research approach, this paper examines how these theories contribute to enhancing students’ motivation, understanding of religious values, and character formation. The findings indicate that behaviorism supports the cultivation of discipline and positive habits through reinforcement and habituation; cognitivism emphasizes structured thinking and rational understanding of Islamic teachings; constructivism encourages students to actively build knowledge through experience, discussion, and reflection; and humanism focuses on personal growth and self-actualization in harmony with spiritual and social development. Integrating these theories into the PAI curriculum promotes more contextual, student-centered, and value-oriented learning. However, implementation still faces several challenges, such as limited teacher understanding of modern learning approaches, insufficient learning resources, and an assessment system that prioritizes cognitive outcomes over holistic development. Therefore, teacher training, innovative pedagogy, and comprehensive evaluation are needed to optimize the application of learning theories in Islamic education.

Abstract

This study was focused on analyzing the essence, principles, and foundations that serve as the basis for developing the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum through a review of recent literature. The method employed was library research, conducted by examining a range of scientific journals and books published within the last 5–10 years. Based on the findings, it was identified that: (1) the essence of the PAI curriculum is grounded in theological foundations derived from the Qur’an and Sunnah, and is directed toward adapting to the demands of the 21st century; (2) the principles of curriculum development were found to emphasize contextual relevance, value integration, competency achievement, and flexibility in implementation; and (3) the foundations of curriculum development encompass philosophical, sociological, psychological, as well as technical and political dimensions of education. The reviewed literature also revealed that the implementation of the PAI curriculum still faces several challenges, such as the suboptimal readiness of teachers, the limited availability of adaptive teaching materials, and the need to integrate 21st-century skills into the learning process. Based on these findings, it is recommended that teacher capacity be strengthened through continuous training, the development of teaching materials based on local contexts and Islamic values from the Qur’an and Sunnah, and the enhancement of cross-stakeholder collaboration to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of the PAI curriculum implementation. Keywords: PAI Curriculum, curriculum essence, development principles, foundations, library research.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze strategies for addressing gender bias in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMP Negeri 29 Bandar Lampung. Using a qualitative approach, the study explores both teacher and school strategies in minimizing gender bias within the teaching and learning process. Data were collected through interviews, observation, documentation, and literature review to identify the forms of gender bias and how they are addressed. The findings show that gender bias mitigation strategies in PAI are divided into two main categories: teacher strategies and school strategies. Teacher strategies involve the implementation of collaborative learning, project-based learning (PBL), and reflective learning. Methods such as discussion, debate, and role playing are also applied. Furthermore, teachers serve as role models by using gender-inclusive language, being emotionally and socially sensitive to students, and creating a safe and supportive learning environment. Meanwhile, school-level strategies include teacher training, curriculum development with a gender perspective, and regular monitoring activities. These combined efforts contribute not only to improving the quality of interaction between teachers and students but also to building a more inclusive learning environment where both male and female students have equal opportunities to develop their potential without being limited by gender role stereotypes.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Islamic Religious Education (PAI), aiming to enhance learning outcomes and address challenges in adapting to modern educational demands. Using a literature review methodology, this research synthesizes studies published between 2015 and 2023, focusing on the effectiveness of ICT tools, the types of digital resources used in PAI, and the barriers faced by educators in implementing these technologies. The findings indicate that ICT significantly improves student engagement, motivation, and comprehension in PAI subjects, particularly through multimedia tools, mobile applications, and e-learning platforms. However, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, digital literacy among teachers, and the digital divide between urban and rural areas limit the widespread use of ICT in PAI classrooms. The study highlights the need for increased investments in infrastructure and continuous professional development for teachers to bridge these gaps. Additionally, it calls for policy support at both institutional and governmental levels to facilitate the integration of ICT in religious education. The novelty of this research lies in its focus on the specific application of ICT in PAI, offering insights into how digital tools can modernize Islamic education while preserving its core values. The findings provide valuable recommendations for educators and policymakers to enhance ICT integration in PAI and ensure its effective use in the 21st century.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the reconstruction of Islamic values in education management through a philosophical approach and a constructivist paradigm. Strengthening values such as trust, fairness, sincerity, deliberation, and itqan is becoming increasingly important because management practices in various Islamic educational institutions still show administrative tendencies that ignore spiritual, ethical, and humanistic dimensions. To answer these problems, this study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with the PRISMA 2020 model, which selects scientific articles published in 2020–2025 from Google Scholar, Crossref, DOAJ, and Garuda. Of the 72 articles identified, eight met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed through thematic analysis techniques. The results of the study show that Islamic values have a fundamental position in building an educational management paradigm that is not only oriented towards efficiency, but also on the formation of organizational character and spirituality. The values of trust and fairness strengthen the integrity and fairness of decision-making, the values of sincerity and deliberation encourage participation and harmonization of working relationships, while the value of itqan emphasizes the importance of professionalism and quality culture in education governance. The integration of these five values philosophically forms an ontological, epistemological, and axiological framework for Islamic education management that is contextual and adaptive according to the constructivistic paradigm. This research contributes to providing a systematic conceptual mapping of the role of Islamic values in education management, as well as offering a philosophical framework that can be used as a basis for the sustainable development of policies, leadership, and governance of Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of Islamic education management on the attainment of Islamic educational goals through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach and the Input–Process–Output (IPO) framework. The review is based on 15 verified articles published between 2020 and 2025 that are relevant to Islamic education management, the implementation of Islamic learning, and the development of student character. The analysis identifies thematic patterns across three key components: input (Islamic leadership, teacher competence, organizational culture, and infrastructure), process (implementation of an Islamic curriculum, instructional strategies, classroom management, and academic supervision), and output (moral conduct, character formation, spirituality, and learning outcomes). The findings indicate that the effectiveness of Islamic education management has a significant influence on the achievement of Islamic educational objectives, particularly through strengthening the quality of inputs that directly shape the learning process and educational outputs. The IPO model is shown to provide a comprehensive analytical framework for understanding the systemic relationship between educational governance, teaching processes, and Islamic-based learning outcomes. This study reaffirms the importance of integrated, value-oriented, and adaptive Islamic education governance as a prerequisite for the optimal realization of Islamic educational goals.

Abstract

The stagnation of the academic atmosphere in Islamic educational institutions is often caused by management practices that are trapped in administrative formalities and a scientific dichotomy that separates religious knowledge from science. This study aims to deconstruct Islamic education management practices and offer a new model based on an Islamic epistemological review. This research is a qualitative library research utilizing a philosophical-pedagogical approach. Data were sourced from authoritative literature on Islamic educational philosophy and modern management, analyzed using content analysis and hermeneutics methods. The findings reveal that ideal Islamic education management must be built upon the integration of three epistemological reasonings: Bayani (textual), Burhani (rational-empirical), and Irfani (intuitive-spiritual). Bayani reasoning serves as a guardian of religious identity and ethics, Burhani reasoning encourages a culture of research and scientific innovation, while Irfani reasoning strengthens the dimensions of character and spirituality. This study recommends an "integrative-circular management" model that synergizes these three reasonings to create a holistic academic atmosphere, aiming to produce 'ulul albab' graduates who possess spiritual strength (dhikr), intellectual capacity (fikr), and good deeds (amal).

Abstract

Religious tolerance is a critical aspect of student development, particularly in diverse educational environments. This study focuses on developing a Religious Tolerance Management Model at Baitul Arqom, Muhammadiyah Mataram University (UMMAT), to promote tolerance among students. The research employs the Dick and Carey system design and a Research and Development (RD) approach. The study involves systematic stages, including model design, flowchart creation, and the development of modules as final outputs. The resulting Religious Tolerance Management Model comprises specific objectives, indicators, training goals, learning materials, and instructional methods. Key components include: (1) the basics of religious tolerance, (2) student religious tolerance, (3) multiculturalism in religion, (4) tolerance and pluralism, (5) management model design, (6) implementation strategies, and (7) follow-up mechanisms. The model focuses on fostering tolerance attitudes, emphasizing organizing group behaviors and mobilizing peer engagement. By implementing the proposed model, Baitul Arqom participants demonstrated improved abilities to organize and influence others in fostering religious tolerance. The structured module design facilitates practical learning steps, time allocation, and assessment to ensure effective outcomes. The study successfully develops a Religious Tolerance Management Model that enhances student attitudes toward religious tolerance at UMMAT. This model serves as a valuable framework for promoting harmony and pluralistic understanding in higher education institutions.

Abstract

Abstract

The advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has profoundly influenced various aspects of life, including education. Islamic education, as a system of human development founded on divine values, must adapt to the changing paradigm of learning in the digital era characterized by computer and internet technologies. However, many previous studies have primarily focused on theoretical discussions about the relationship between Islam and technology or on the ethical use of AI in general contexts, without sufficiently addressing the development of a practical and relevant Islamic education curriculum for the age of artificial intelligence. This research gap indicates the need for more in-depth studies on how the Islamic education curriculum can remain relevant and aligned with technological progress while preserving its moral and spiritual foundations. The purpose of this article is to examine the relevance of the Islamic education curriculum in facing the challenges of AI and to identify opportunities and strategies for its development to ensure adaptability without losing its spiritual essence. This study employs a literature review approach by analyzing academic works published between 2020 and 2025. The findings reveal that the Islamic education curriculum must be redesigned to integrate digital skills, technological literacy, and Islamic values into every component of learning. Although AI-based learning has great potential to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of education, it must be implemented in accordance with moral and spiritual principles to prevent dehumanization. Therefore, the contemporary Islamic education curriculum should be constructed dynamically, holistically, and futuristically, balancing digital, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual intelligences. Such curriculum reform is expected to produce a generation of Muslims who excel in technology while upholding moral integrity and transcendental awareness, enabling the ethical use of artificial intelligence for the betterment of humanity.
