Abstract

Bireuen District has significant potential in fisheries resources. However, the high potential of marine fisheries comes with various threats, such as overfishing and destructive fishing, which can disrupt the sustainability of marine ecosystems. The use of environmentally friendly fishing gear is a crucial aspect of sustainability. This study aims to identify environmentally friendly fishing technologies in Bireuen District. Data collection was conducted using a descriptive method with survey techniques, observations, and structured interviews with respondents. The sampling method employed purposive sampling, selecting respondents based on specific criteria or considerations relevant to the research objectives, with a total of 50 respondents directly involved in capture fisheries in Bireuen District. Data analysis was carried out using a scoring analysis based on nine criteria for environmentally friendly fishing gear, following the guidelines of the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries. The results of the study indicate that fishing gears with very environmentally friendly technology include purse seines, trolling lines, set longlines, pots, and gillnets. Meanwhile, beach seines and trammel nets are categorized as less environmentally friendly. Keywords:Fishing gearEnvironmentally FriendlyCapture fisheriesCCRFBireuen District

Abstract

Mangrove plants have the capacity to protect coastlines and inland areas from natural disasters such as hurricanes, cyclones, and tsunamis. Mangroves are one of the most productive marine ecosystems on earth, providing unique habitat for many species, as well as important goods and services for humans. Mangroves are also a spawning ground and nursery ground for various types of marine biota. The mangrove area in the Aceh Tamiang area is currently in trouble because of the many activities such as changing the function of land as ponds, housing, infrastructure development and making charcoal kitchens, which can change the function of the mangroves. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out research with the aim of mapping the distribution of mangrove ecosystems using multi-temporal satellite imagery, classifying mangroves based on their density classes and finding out the type of mangrove that is dominant in the mangrove density. This research uses the Purposive Random Sampling method as a technique for taking several scientific considerations. This research also uses the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) method by categorizing 3 classes in density in the Seruway, Bendahara, Banda Mulia and Manyak Payed Subdistricts in five different periods, namely 2002, 2007, 2012, 2017 and 2022. The results obtained the highest NDVI value was in 2002 at 0.98 with an area of 2152.61 ha (16.52%) and the lowest value was in 2007 at -0.23 with an area of 474.15 ha (4.47%). The total type of mangrove found in Aceh Tamiang District is 27 types. Seruway Subdistrict found the most types of mangroves, around 23 types, and in Banda Mulia Subdistrict, the fewest types of mangroves were found, around 12 types. Keywords:Mangrove ecosystemNDVI methodMangrove densityCoastal LULCMangrove type

Abstract

Sponges are the most primitive multicellular animals that live in various types of waters, ranging from fresh to brackish and marine. Sponges live at the bottom of the water, usually embedding themselves in rigid substrates such as rocks or corals and competing with other attached organisms for food space. This study aimed to analyse the abundance and diversity and determine the differences in sponge abundance at different depths. This research was conducted in March 2024 in Pasumpahan Island, West Sumatra. This research used the survey method and the belt transect method. The sampling location was divided into three stations consisting of 3 sampling points. Station I is located in the tourist area, Station II is in the dock area, and Station III is in the area facing the open sea. The results showed that the highest abundance based on depth was found at station I with a depth of 5 m, namely 1071.4 ind / ha and the lowest abundance at station II with a depth of 7 m, 714.286 ind / ha. The t-test results obtained a significant value of less than 0.05, namely 0.048, which means that the abundance of sponges at different depths is significantly different. The diversity index ranges from 1.930 to 2.013, indicating that the sponge diversity level in Pasumpahan Island waters is classified as moderate. The T-test results show a significant value of more than 0.05, namely 0.795, which means the abundance of sponges at two depths is significantly different

Abstract

Increased fuel consumption of oil has an impact on the energy crisis. Biogasolin is an alternative fuel from vegetable oil that has the potential to overcome this problem. One of the methods used to produce biogasoline is the catalytic string method. Such methods generally use a catalyst to help speed up reactions. The use of catalysts in the cracking process is increasingly diverse. In this review article will compare the biogasoline percent value between several types of catalysts focused on zeolite and zeolite catalysts that are modified with metal, including the general picture of the arrest of the material, type and characteristics of the zeolite catalyst, operating conditions, and ways of performance of each catalyst. Zeolite catalyst which is a heterogeneous catalyst is considered to have good ability in selectivity, activity, and ease of modification so that it is very influential on the cracking results. Some zeolite catalysts modified with metals such as nimo/zeolite; Zn/HZSM-5; Cu/HZSM-5; Ni/HZSM-5; MO/HZSM-5; HZSM-5; PD/HZSM-5; PT/HZSM-5; Zn/Na-ZSM-5; Ni/ZSM-5; Ni/mnz; Co-NI/HZSM-5 and each biogasoline is obtained at 11.93%; 28.38%; 17.55%; 32-37%; 9-23%; 30.2%; 32-41%; 11.73% are reportedly able to provide performance to improve biogasoline results and certainly become a new catalyst that is useful in the scientific world

Abstract

Cosmetics have been known for centuries and have undergone significant transformation, especially since the 19th century when packaging began to attract public attention. In the modern Islamic economic context, cosmetic products must not only meet halal requirements but also align with environmental values. This study aims to explore the understanding of Generation Z in Muara Telang Village, South Sumatra, regarding the Green Dot symbol found on halal-labeled cosmetic products, and to analyze how this understanding influences their consumption preferences. Using a qualitative field research method, data were collected through interviews and documentation from local shop owners and consumers. The findings reveal that most Generation Z respondents in Muara Telang have limited knowledge about the Green Dot symbol. Despite this, they prioritize halal certification and other product attributes such as price and brand when choosing cosmetics. The lack of awareness about environmental labeling highlights a gap between ecological literacy and Islamic economic principles. The study concludes that better education is needed to integrate sustainability with halal consumption.
