Abstract

The underlying reason of the study is the importance of education in global era where parents demand that, to face the future, their children should both master science and technology and have strong religion base. To maintain trust from the society, madrasah must work hard. In the last few years, MIN 1 Kulon Progo, a madrasah (Islamic School) with the highest number of students in district Temon, has experienced a constant decrease in enrolments.   The sudy shows that student parents of MIN 1 Kulon Progo expect that students 1) worship more diligently, 2) possess better moral and personality, 3) have various skills, 4) achieve better grade, and 5) reach both academic and nonacademic achievements. To respond parents’ expectation, Madrasah issues policies such as 1) improving the students’ worship quality, 2) mending their moralsand attitude, 3) strengthening the pupils’ skills, 4) setting higherachievements, 5) raising goals both academic and non academic. The policies prove to fulfil the needs although some parents think differently. It also brought further benefit to the school as more parents send their children to MIN 1 Kulon Progo in 2018/2019 school year. The school reached the target of new students (56), and it even had to refuse some candidates.

Abstract

Israel's attack on Palestinian Gaza left thousands of people dead, including both women and children. In addition, many public facilities such as hospitals, mosques, and refugee camps were damaged. Sympathy for Palestinian Gaza residents has emerged in various countries worldwide. One of them is in the form of a boycott of products that are indicated to be related to Israel. The purpose of this research was to investigate the motivations behind the boycott of goods and services related to Israel in response to the war launched by Israel in Gaza, Palestine, on October 7, 2023, by some Muslim countries and other democratic nations across the globe. The study aimed to determine whether the boycott was driven by political or economic interests alone. This research is a descriptive qualitative research and data collection technique that searches for documents published in various online media in Indonesia and various other countries. The data analysis technique uses the content analysis of published news. The findings of the study revealed that the primary objective of the boycott, which was to put an end to the war in Gaza, Palestine, was not achieved, as the war continued despite the boycott efforts. However, the study found that the secondary objective, which was to reduce the income of companies with ties to Israeli companies or entrepreneurs, was successfully accomplished. The decline in revenue of these companies, whose products were boycotted in various Muslim countries, indicated that the economic goal of the boycott was achieved. It is important to note that this research had certain limitations, including the time frame of the study, which was conducted over only three months, from October to December 2023.

Abstract

This study describes the background, existence, and function of Lontiok Traditional Houses, the traditional dwellings of the Malay ethnic group in Kampar Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia. Employing a historical method, the research focuses on archaeological reliefs as the primary source and interviews as the secondary source. Source criticism ensures data authenticity and reliability, while data interpretation involves field analysis and literature review. Findings reveal that Lontiok Traditional Houses are not merely physical structures but also embody traditional art and Minangkabau cultural continuity. The intricate carvings preserve cultural traditions and educate Kampar's younger generation. These houses, reflecting high values of customs, art, and culture, serve as cultural tourist attractions and venues for traditional events such as leadership installations, deliberations, and weddings. The inauguration on May 22, 1988, on Belimbing Island highlights their significance in preserving Minangkabau cultural heritage.

Abstract

This research examines the importance of inclusive theology and dialogue between religious communities in supporting social harmony in multicultural societies, focusing on Indonesia. In the era of globalization, meetings between diverse religions and cultures are increasingly occurring, creating challenges and opportunities for mutual understanding. Inclusive theology, which recognizes religious diversity and seeks universal values in those traditions, is proposed as an approach to encourage respect, dialogue, and cooperation between religious communities. This research uses a qualitative method that combines studies of interfaith initiatives, this research highlights the potential of inclusive theology to bridge differences and reduce tensions. This research also explores the role of education and social media in supporting inclusive theology through spreading messages of peace and coexistence. Research findings show that inclusive theology promotes religious tolerance and forms the basis for cooperation in the social, educational, and environmental fields. Despite the challenges of an exclusive theological perspective, continued efforts in education and the use of social media are essential to increasing broader acceptance. This research contributes to the discussion of religious pluralism by providing practical and theoretical insights into the application of inclusive theology to create peace and mutual understanding in diverse societies.

Abstract

After the end of Japanese colonialism in Indonesia, the Dutch wanted to re-colonize Indonesia with the help of the Allies. Indonesia strongly opposed the Dutch plan, so there was great resistance from the Indonesian people and the Dutch began to carry out Military Aggression I and II in various regions, including Kerinci. In the Dutch Military Aggression in Kerinci,  lieutenan II Muradi became a very important figure because he led and organized the guerrilla war strategy against the Dutch. The main focus of this research is to look at the role of  lieutenant II Muradi and the war tactics used with his troops in the face of superior Dutch military strength. The method used in this paper is the historical method. The results show that  lieutenant II Muradi, who came from Koto Tuo Village, Kerinci Regency, completed his education at the SR CVO and the Vocational College in Bengkulu, then became a teacher in Bengkulu. During the Japanese occupation, he was appointed to the Gyugun, or Japanese auxiliary army, with the rank of Sergeant Major. In Dutch Military Aggression II, he led the war using guerrilla tactics, scorched earth tactics, and readiness detection against the Dutch. His contribution to the struggle in Kerinci is highly respected, as evidenced by the establishment of a monument to his struggle in Sungai Penuh City, Kerinci, and the naming of a protocol road in Kerinci Regency.
