Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis may impair ventilation and increase the work of breathing, placing patients at risk of an ineffective breathing pattern. This case report describes nursing support for ventilation through nurse-led interventions of pursed-lips breathing (PLB) and the semi-Fowler position in a pulmonary tuberculosis patient with an ineffective breathing pattern diagnosis. A descriptive single case report was prepared following CARE guidelines and the nursing process. Observation was conducted for 24 hours in a 69-year-old male patient in the emergency department of RS TK II Pelamonia Makassar. Outcomes were recorded consistently at baseline (March 17, 2025, 10.00 WITA) and at 24-hour follow-up, including respiratory rate (RR), oxygen saturation (SpO₂), signs of respiratory distress, and dyspnea using the Modified Borg Dyspnea Scale. Nurse-led interventions (semi-Fowler 30–45° and structured PLB) were implemented alongside collaborative therapy (oxygen via nasal cannula at 4 L/min and nebulized combivent/pulmicort) as prescribed. Clinical improvement was observed in this case, indicated by a decrease in RR from 25 to 22 breaths/min, an increase in SpO₂ from 96% to 100%, and a decrease in Borg score from 5/10 to 3/10, accompanied by reduced accessory muscle use. Conclusion: the nursing care package (PLB and semi-Fowler position) together with collaborative therapy was followed by improved breathing outcomes in a single pulmonary TB case; causality and generalization are limited and further studies are needed.

Abstract

Head injury is a traumatic disturbance of brain function that may or may not be accompanied by interstitial bleeding within the brain substance (2,4,5). Emergency management aims to prevent secondary brain injury, including optimizing ventilation/oxygenation and cerebral perfusion, as well as patient positioning. A common non-invasive measure is 30° head elevation (Head-Up) to facilitate cerebral venous drainage. To describe changes in consciousness level (Glasgow Coma Scale/GCS) following the application of a 30° Head-Up position in a patient with moderate head injury in the emergency department. A single-patient case report in the emergency department of RSUD Sayang Rakyat Makassar. The primary Outcome was serial GCS recorded at baseline before elevation (T0) and during observation until transfer. Head-Up 30° was an independent nursing intervention; oxygen therapy was recorded as collaborative therapy. A 50-year-old male (Mr. R) with moderate head injury and subdural hemorrhage. At T0 (10:15 WITA) GCS was 3-3-5; at 10:45 WITA it remained 3-3-5; it increased to 3-3-6 at 12:50 WITA and remained 3-3-6 until 13:54 WITA when the patient was transferred to the operating room. Available observation lasted approximately 3 hours 39 minutes; the planned 8-hour follow-up was not completed due to definitive transfer. In this case, 30° head elevation (with collaborative oxygen therapy) was followed by an improvement in GCS from 3-3-5 to 3-3-6 during ED observation. As descriptive evidence, this report cannot establish causality but supports the use of 30° Head-Up as part of non-invasive early management for head injury.

Abstract

Background: Environmental and social factors influence the feeding and swallowing abilities of preschool children. However, understanding of how these factors interact to form eating and swallowing abilities is still limited. This study assesses the influence of environmental and social factors on children's feeding and swallowing abilities using various environmental and social indicators. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Surakarta, Central Java (April–August 2025), with 81 purposively selected children. Feeding and swallowing ability was the dependent variable, while family, school, economic, social, and parenting factors served as predictors. Data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and the Dysphagia Disorder Survey, and analyzed using path analysis in Stata 13. Results: Children’s feeding and swallowing abilities were significantly associated with economic conditions and food availability (b = 2.09; 95% CI: 0.08–2.58; p = 0.037), parental support and social factors (b = 3.16; 95% CI: 0.79–3.41; p = 0.002), as well as feeding practices (b = 3.27; 95% CI: 0.82–3.27; p = 0.001). Indirectly, children’s abilities were also influenced by social factors, parental support, appropriate feeding practices, school and peer environment, and social support. Conclusion: Economic conditions, parental support, and feeding practices have a direct influence on children’s feeding and swallowing abilities. In contrast, social factors, parenting styles, educational environments, and social support exert indirect effects. The main implication for health practices is the need for integrated interventions involving family economic support, parental education, social systems, and learning environments to support the development of feeding and swallowing abilities in preschool children.

Abstract

Environmental degradation, particularly caused by plastic waste, remains a global issue that requires comprehensive management and the involvement of various stakeholders. One effective approach is the provision of environmental education from an early age through innovative and engaging methods. This community service activity aimed to foster environmental awareness and enhance children’s creativity through ecoprint training using the pounding technique at SDN 01 Percontohan, West Aceh. The activity consisted of socialization, hands-on training, and evaluation using pretests and posttests, involving 40 fifth-grade students. The results showed an increase in students’ knowledge of environmental conservation as well as their ability to create artwork from natural materials. The students successfully produced tote bags with unique ecoprint motifs, which contributed to the improvement of their motor skills and their sense of responsibility toward the environment. Overall, ecoprint training proved effective in enhancing students’ environmental awareness and creativity. The success of this program has encouraged the expansion of similar activities to other schools to help develop a generation that is more environmentally conscious.

Abstract

Mitra pada pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah guru-guru Taman Kanak-Kanak (TK) Aisyiyah se-PCA Hadimulyo, yaitu TK Aisyiyah Hadimulyo Barat dan Hadimulyo Timur, yang masih terkendala dalam membuat modul ajar tematik dan media gambar yang lebih praktis, cepat dan menarik. Oleh karena itu perlunya pelatihan dan pendampingan dalam membuat modul ajar dan media gambar tematik menggunakan canva. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah: Mitra memiliki pengetahuan dan ketrampilan membuat modul ajar tematik dan media gambar menggunakan canva. yang dilakukan melalui: 1) Sosialisasi, bertujuan agar mitra memahami pentingnya menyusun modul ajar tematik dan media gambar menggunakan canva, 2) Pelatihan, guru diberikan materi dan praktek menyusun modul ajar tematik dan gambar menggunakan canva, bertujuan untuk mengembangkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan guru, 3) Pendampingan, dilakukan melalui pembimbingan kepada guru, 4) Evaluasi, untuk mengetahui apakah guru trampil menyusun modul ajar tematik dan gambar menggunakan canva, Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan angket, selanjutnya dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah: mitra memliki ketrampilan membuat modul ajar tematik dan media gambar menggunakan canva. Mitra merasa tertarik dan trampil menyusun modul ajar tematik dan membuat gambar dengan canva. Saran yang diberikan yaitu agar diberikan pelatihan bervariasi untuk meningkatkan inovasi guru.

Abstract

Postoperative fracture patients have a high risk of delayed wound healing due to limited knowledge and skills in performing independent wound care. Lack of knowledge about proper wound care techniques can increase the risk of infection, prolong the length of stay, and reduce the patient's quality of life. Therefore, structured wound care educational interventions are needed to improve patient understanding and optimize the wound healing process. This study aims to analyze the effect of wound care education on increasing knowledge and accelerating the wound healing process in postoperative fracture patients. This research method uses a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group approach. A total of 40 postoperative fracture patients were divided into an intervention group (n=20) who received structured wound care education and a control group (n=20) who received standard education from Pelamonia Makassar Class II Hospital. The level of knowledge and wound healing conditions were measured before and after the intervention using a structured questionnaire and observation sheet. Data were analyzed using statistical tests with a significance level of 0.05. The results of this study showed an increase in knowledge scores in both groups, with a greater increase in the intervention group than in the control group. The wound healing process in the intervention group showed more significant improvement than in the control group. There is a significant relationship between increasing patient knowledge and accelerating the wound healing process (p<0.001). The conclusion of this study shows that structured wound care education has an impact on increasing the knowledge of fracture patients and contributes to accelerating the wound healing process. Hospitals need to include structured education as a permanent protocol in the SOP for fracture patients.

Abstract

Human resource development is a key focus in the development of the Indonesian capital city. Elementary and secondary schools in Sepaku Regency, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, are the closest buffer zone to the New Capital City. Therefore, the quality of these schools is crucial in facilitating the development of the younger generation around the New Capital City. Adjustments to curriculum documents serve as guidelines for school administration, ensuring the quality of educational services provided. Therefore, training and mentoring in school curriculum development are crucial and have become the aim of this program. The method of this mentoring program was implemented through five phases from 2024 to 2025, with 12 elementary schools and two junior high schools in Sepaku District participating. The mentoring result demonstrated that each school was able to create comprehensive and aligned curriculum documents with a focus on in-depth learning. Challenges encountered during the training process included changes in the number of school representatives present at the training and mentoring activities. In early 2025, there was a shift in the curriculum guidelines toward in-depth learning. The finalization process for mentoring, incorporating key elements of in-depth learning into the curriculum documents, has been completed. It can be concluded that mentoring could support schools to re-focus their curriculum.

Abstract

This article analyzes the integration model between science and religion in Malaysian and Indonesian Higher Education. So far, the dichotomy of science and religion is considered to be one of the causes for the exit of the Islamic world from the Western world. In this century, educational institutions in the Islamic world began to re-select the integration pattern of science. This study uses qualitative methods, by collecting data through observation, visiting two higher education institutions studied, and conducting in-depth interviews with relevant parties, namely the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in Malaysia and Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) in Indonesia. Data collection is also done by searching documents and referral sources in various data sources available online. From the research conducted, it was found that, integration carried out by Islamic universities in Malaysia and Indonesia was to open faculties and study programs without any religious or public claims. Everything is the same, and there are no restrictions on the rules for students based on religion to enter into it. So, education is inclusive, it can be for anyone. This model succeeded in advancing Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Background: Children with autism spectrum disorder experience language development challenges, particularly in receptive vocabulary, which impact their ability to understand instructions and communicate. These limitations require structured and repeated interventions. Practice methods can strengthen receptive vocabulary comprehension and memory in children with autism spectrum disorder. Purpose: To determine the effect of practice methods on receptive vocabulary skills in children with autism spectrum disorder. Method: This study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest experimental design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a sample size of 12 participants. The research instrument used was the Receptive One-Word Picture Vocabulary Test (ROWPVT). The practice method intervention was administered in 10 30-minute sessions using flashcards. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test. Results: Receptive vocabulary skills before the intervention (pretest) were mostly in the moderate category (8 participants (66.7%) and low category (4 participants (33.3%)). After the intervention (posttest), there was an increase in receptive vocabulary skills. Six participants (50.0%) were in the high category, four participants (33.3%), and two participants (16.7%) were in the moderate category. The average receptive vocabulary skill score increased from 73.17±9.861 in the pretest to 84.08±9.510 in the posttest. A paired t-test analysis showed a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that the training method significantly influenced children's receptive vocabulary skills. Conclusion: The training method significantly influenced receptive vocabulary skills in children with autism spectrum disorders. Suggestion: For future researchers, the results of this study can be used as a reference for developing more comprehensive and representative research, both in terms of research location and number of participants. Data.   Keywords: Autism Spectrum Disorder; Receptive Vocabulary; Training Methods.   Pendahuluan: Anak dengan autism spectrum disorder mengalami hambatan perkembangan bahasa, khususnya pada aspek kosakata reseptif yang berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan memahami instruksi dan komunikasi. Keterbatasan tersebut memerlukan intervensi yang terstruktur dan berulang. Metode drill dapat memperkuat pemahaman dan memori kosakata reseptif anak dengan autism spectrum disorder. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode drill terhadap kemampuan kosakata reseptif anak autism spectrum disorder. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen one-group pretest–posttest design. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 12 partisipan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah Receptive One-Word Picture Vocabulary Test (ROWPVT). Intervensi metode drill diberikan sebanyak 10 sesi dengan durasi 30 menit per sesi menggunakan media flashcard. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji statistik paired t-test. Hasil: Kemampuan kosakata reseptif sebelum intervensi (pretest), sebagian besar berada pada kategori sedang sebanyak 8 partisipan (66.7%) dan kategori rendah sebanyak 4 partisipan (33.3%). Setelah intervensi metode drill (posttest), terjadi peningkatan kemampuan kosakata reseptif, partisipan terbanyak berada pada kategori tinggi sebanyak 6 partisipan (50.0%), kategori sedang sebanyak 4 partisipan (33.3%), dan kategori sangat tinggi sebanyak 2 partisipan (16.7%). Nilai rata-rata kemampuan kosakata reseptif meningkat dari 73.17±9.861 pada pretest menjadi 84.08±9.510 pada posttest. Analisis uji paired t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), sehingga penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya pengaruh metode drill terhadap kemampuan kosakata reseptif anak. Simpulan: Metode drill berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kemampuan kosakata reseptif pada anak autism spectrum disorder. Saran: Bagi peneliti selanjutnya, hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan acuan untuk mengembangkan penelitian yang lebih komprehensif dan representatif, baik dari segi lokasi penelitian, jumlah partisipan, maupun variasi teknik pengumpulan data.   Kata Kunci: Autism Spectrum Disorder; Kosakata Reseptif; Metode Drill.

Abstract

Perkembangan e-commerce melalui media sosial, khususnya TikTok Shop, mendorong perubahan perilaku konsumen dalam melakukan pembelian secara online. Fitur live streaming dan online customer review menjadi faktor penting yang dapat mempengaruhi keputusan pembelian konsumen, terutama di kalangan mahasiswa yang merupakan pengguna aktif media sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh live streaming dan online customer review terhadap keputusan pembelian pada mahasiswa Jurusan Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Mulawarman. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian explanatory research. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 140 responden yang ditentukan menggunakan rumus Slovin. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penyebaran kuesioner kepada responden. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan analisis regresi linear berganda dengan bantuan aplikasi SPSS versi 29. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial variabel live streaming berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian dengan nilai signifikansi 0,001 < 0,05. Variabel online customer review juga berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian dengan nilai signifikansi 0,001 < 0,05. Secara simultan, kedua variabel tersebut berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian dengan nilai Fhitung 109,131 > Ftabel 3,06 serta nilai koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,614. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa sebesar 61,4% keputusan pembelian dipengaruhi oleh live streaming dan online customer review, sedangkan sisanya dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain di luar penelitian.
