Abstract

Seed dormancy poses a serious challenge when aiming for precise and uniform sowing times in crop cultivation activities. Dormancy can reduce seed viability thus inhibiting germination and early plant growth. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of gold snail extract enriched with PGPR (Plant Growth Promotion Rhizobacteria) bioactivator by optimizing the length of soaking in local rice seeds that experience dormancy. The research was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments of control soaking duration (P0), 12 hours soaking duration (P1), 24 hours (P2), 36 hours (P3) and 48 hours (P4) with 4 replications so that a total of 20 experimental units were obtained. Each experimental unit consisted of 25 local Kamba rice seeds by observing the percentage of germination, vigor index, growth speed, fresh weight, dry weight, root length and pH changes during the fermentation process. The results showed that various treatments of soaking time in gold snail extract enriched with PGPR bioactivator did not provide statistically significant differences in the germination of local rice seeds that experienced dormancy. However, there was an increasing trend in all observation parameters indicating that the viability and vigor of seeds soaked in gold snail extract for 36 hours (P3) were better than the control. pH and temperature observed before and after fermentation, showed conditions that remained optimal. The combination of gold snail extract added with PGPR as a bioactivator is an alternative solution that can accelerate the breaking of dormancy, increase seed viability and vigor as an effort to support more optimal and sustainable early growth of rice plants.

Abstract

This study provides a political economy analysis of how higher education liberalisation fails private universities in Indonesia through policy neutralisation and market constraints. Using path analysis, we conducted a census of 20 private universities in Sukabumi, with 60 respondents, to investigate the direct and mediated effects of liberalisation policies on economic performance through student enrolment. Our findings reveal that liberalisation policies have no significant effects on either economic performance or student enrollment, accounting for only 6.7% of enrollment variance. In contrast, student enrollment shows a robust positive relationship with economic performance, accounting for over 50% of institutional performance variance. These results demonstrate how market constraints—demographic limitations, competitive saturation, and resource scarcity—systematically neutralise the benefits of liberalisation for private universities. The absence of liberalisation effects contradicts neoliberal theoretical expectations, while the strong enrollment-performance linkage confirms resource dependence in tuition-dependent models. Our political economy analysis reveals that state policy advantages for public universities create asymmetric competition that undermines private institutions. The study demonstrates how market constraints generate policy-neutralisation effects, necessitating direct enrolment support mechanisms rather than market-oriented reforms for sustainable private university development in constrained contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the meaning of QS. Al-‘Alaq verses 1–5 based on the contemporary interpretation of Tafsir Al-Misbah by M. Quraish Shihab as the basis for scientific ethics in Islamic education, as well as to examine its relevance to the development of science and ethics of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of education. This study uses a qualitative method with a library research approach and thematic interpretation analysis (tafsir maudhu'i), which focuses on the integration of revelatory values and modern Islamic educational literature. The results show that QS. Al-‘Alaq 1–5 provides an epistemological and ethical foundation for Islamic education in addressing the challenges posed by AI. The command iqra' emphasises the importance of acquiring knowledge with divine consciousness; the term qalam represents an instrument of knowledge that must be directed towards benefit, while the phrase 'allama al-insān emphasises the dignity of humans as moral learners. Based on the maqasid al-syari'ah framework, the values of trust, justice, benefit, and respect for human dignity serve as the main principles for overcoming dehumanisation, algorithmic bias, privacy violations, and inequality in access to education. Thus, AI is positioned not as a substitute for human roles but as a means of strengthening ethical and spiritual literacy in the Islamic education system.

Abstract

Abstract

The Qur'an is the main source of law and guidance for Muslims, so the ability to read the Qur'an properly and correctly is a basic competency that must be acquired from an early age. This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of the Iqro method in teaching Qur'an reading at TPQ Al Barokah and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving 5 teachers, 54 students, and 2 TPQ administrators. Data analysis was carried out interactively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, accompanied by triangulation of techniques and sources to ensure data validity. The results showed that the Iqro method was effective in improving students' ability to read the Qur'an, as seen from the development of their abilities, ranging from recognition of Hijaiyah letters to fluency in reading according to the rules of tajwid. The main supporting factors included intensive guidance from teachers, student motivation to learn, and parental support. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors include differences in the students' abilities, limited learning facilities, and relatively limited learning time. Overall, the application of the Iqro method is not only effective in improving the students' ability to read the Qur'an, but also contributes to building their confidence, discipline, and love for the Qur'an

Abstract

The relationship between Islam and science remains a strategic focus in Islamic higher education institutions. This study examines the implementation of Nidal Guessoum’s epistemic-ethical coexistence model in enhancing the religious-scientific literacy of students at Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. Using a qualitative-exploratory design, data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, then analyzed thematically. The majority of respondents recognized the importance of integration, although their understanding of it varied. When Islamic values were directly linked with scientific concepts, student participation and critical reflection increased, especially on environmental and technological issues. Furthermore, 74% of students indicated that this approach helped unify rationality and faith. However, the main challenges stemmed from limited interdisciplinary competence among lecturers and inconsistent institutional policy support. Nevertheless, the findings indicate significant opportunities to strengthen religious-scientific literacy through integrative curriculum policies and targeted faculty training. This study affirms that integrating science and religion is not only feasible but also effective in fostering a holistic conceptual and spiritual understanding. The study also recommends longitudinal research to evaluate the long-term impact on students’ scientific and ethical competencies as well as on society at large.

Abstract

Introduction: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by persistent hyperglycemia and is frequently associated with low levels of physical activity. Limited access to structured exercise programs remains a major barrier to optimal diabetes management, particularly in primary healthcare settings. Video-based home exercise programs offer a practical and accessible approach to promoting physical activity and improving glycemic control. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a video-based home exercise program on physical activity levels and fasting blood glucose among patients with T2DM. Research Methodology: A quantitative quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted among 30 patients with T2DM at a primary healthcare facility. Physical activity was assessed using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), while fasting blood glucose levels were measured before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and paired t-test, with statistical significance set at p < 0.05. Results: The intervention resulted in a significant increase in physical activity levels (Z = –4.704; p = 0.000). In addition, mean fasting blood glucose levels decreased significantly from 172.60 ± 29.41 mg/dL to 151.87 ± 27.83 mg/dL (t = 2.665; p = 0.012). Conclusion: The video-based home exercise program was effective in improving physical activity and glycemic control among patients with T2DM. This intervention is a feasible, low-cost strategy to support diabetes self-management in primary healthcare settings
