Abstract

The Effectiveness of Discovery Learning Model in Terms of Students’ Mathematical Communication Skills. This quasi experimental research aimed to examine the effectiveness of discovery learning model in terms of students’ mathematical communication skills. The population of this research was all students of grade VII of SMP Negeri 26 Bandarlampung in even semester in academic year 2018/2019 as many as 233 students, that were distributed into eight classes. By using purposive sampling technique, two classes were taken as the sample that were VII B class as many as 30 students and VII D class as many as 29 students. This research used the pretest-posttest control group design and the data collecting technique was test. The data obtained from this research was the score of students’ mathematical communication skills. Based on the result of -test and proportion test using 5% of significance level, it was concluded that discovery learning model was not effective in terms of students’ mathematical communication skills. However, the mathematical communication skills of students who following discovery learning was higher than mathematical communication skills of students who following conventional learning.Keywords: discovery learning, effectiveness, mathematical communication skills DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v19i2.pp87-98

Abstract

Integrated STEM 3.0 Approach to Enhance Critical Thinking Skills. Critical Objectives: This study aimed to examine the effect of the STEM 3.0 approach assisted by real material and virtual simulation to enhance the CTS. Methods: The research method used Quasi-Experimental Designs with Matching-Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The subjects of this study were high school students of Class XI in Surabaya. Findings: Based on the research data, the increase in the CTS of students in the 2 experimental classes was classified as moderate with an average n-gain value of students in class A2 of 0.69 and class A5 of 0.63 while the increase in CTS in the control class was classified as moderate with a lower value (a score of 0.36). Based on the results of statistical tests, there is a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. Conclusion: Thus, it is concluded that the integrated STEM 3.0 approach can enhance the CTS. Keywords: integrated STEM 3.0, CTS, real material, virtual simulations.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v12.i3.202219

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to characterize the emotional regulation of working women who deal with dual role conflict, or conflicts between work at home and job outside the home. This study aims to identify the variables influencing the emotional regulation of working mothers who encounter dual role conflict as well as to give an overview of the emotional regulation practices of these mothers. The issue where mothers experience a dual role conflict between working and being a housewife is the focus of the researcher's qualitative technique. Three working mothers who had also transitioned to being housewives with children and significant others or informants made up the total number of respondents in this study. Formal interviews were used to gather data. The findings demonstrated that each of the three respondents was able to discuss several facets of emotional regulation, such as reaction modulation, attention deployment, situation alteration, and situation selection. While gender, cognitive ability, and social support are determinants in emotion regulation.

Abstract

This research was conducted because of a phenomenon that shows low self-regulated learning by showing behaviors such as lack of enthusiasm in learning. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a relationship between peer social support and self-regulated learning in students at SMK Antarctica 2 Sidoarjo. The sampling technique in this research uses proportional stratified random sampling. The research technique is a correlational quantitative method. The research sample as many as 304 students obtained with a significance level of 5% of the total population of 2,470 students. The data collection method uses 2 psychological scales, namely the peer social support scale with a reliability of 0,901, and self-regulated learning scale with a reliability 0,901. The proposed hypothesis is that there is a significant positive relationship between peer social support and self-regulated learning. Analysis of the data with Correlation Product Moment Pearson. The result, r = 0.197, p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means the research hypothesis is accepted. The higher the peer social support, the higher the self-regulated learning. On the other hand, the lower the peer social support, the lower the self-regulated learning of the students of SMK Antartika 2 Sidoarjo. The contribution of peer social support to the occurrence of self-regulated learning is 14,6%.

Abstract

Emotional abuse is prone to occur in romantic relationships that have existed for more than 6 months. Unlike physical abuse, emotional abuse is carried out by women more than men. Emotional regulation is identified as one of the internal factors that can influence someone to do emotional abuse or not in a relationship. Therefore, this study aims to see the relationship between emotional regulation and emotional abuse in dating female students in Bandung using quantitative methods. The population selected in this study has certain criteria including female students aged 18-24 years, currently or have been in a relationship, and dating for a minimum of 6 months. The sample used is 213 samples. The measuring instrument for emotion regulation uses the DERS scale with a reliability of 0.910. While the emotional abuse measurement tool uses an emotional abuse scale with a reliability of 0.865. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The results of hypothesis testing show (r = -.267**; p= 0.000) it can be concluded that the hypothesis is accepted so that there is a negative relationship between emotional regulation and emotional abuse so that the higher the emotional regulation, the lower the emotional abuse and vice versa. The contribution of emotion regulation to emotional abuse is 4.7%.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the psychological well-being of the college students of the incomplete family, either because the father died or the parents divorce and didn’t live with the father. In this study, researcher used a qualitative approach focused on a phenomenon, the incomplete family. The subject of this research are three college students who lost their father in death or divorce and every subjects has two significant others or informans. The data collection used semi-structured interview and observation with anecdotal record. The result of this research shows that subject I can emerges five dimensions of psychological well-being which are self acceptance, positive relations with others, environmental mastery, purpose in life, and personal growth. Subject II and III they emerge all six dimensions of psychological well-being which are self acceptance, positive relations with others, autonomy, environmental mastery, purpose in life, and personal growth. The factors that affect all three subjects are the same: age, culture, social status, and social support.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of hardiness in sales promotion girl. hardiness is a psychological resilience and strategy to deal with stress which can be seen from three aspects, namely, commitment, control and challenge. this research uses descriptive quantitative method. with a population of 50 spg, the sample used is 50 sales promotion girls. the sampling method used in this research is saturated sampling. the data collection method uses a likert scale, namely the hardiness scale. hardiness scale based on kobasa's (1982) theory. the results of data analysis from this study hardiness is in the medium category. the result of further research is the percentage of hardiness aspect that is high is control.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the academic self-efficacy of pharmacy academy students. This research uses descriptive quantitative method. The sample used is the Surabaya Pharmacy Academy students who work with a total of 100 students. The sampling method used in this research is saturated sampling. The data collection method used a Likert scale, namely the academic self-efficacy scale. The results of data analysis from this study were in the moderate category of academic self-efficacy. The results of further research that the percentage of high academic self-efficacy aspects is the state aspect in completing the task.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan implementasi prinsip meaningful, mindful, dan joyful learning dalam pembelajaran mendalam di SDIT Jumapolo. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan desain studi kasus dengan subjek kepala sekolah, guru, dan siswa yang dipilih secara purposif. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi, dianalisis dengan model Miles dan Huberman, serta diuji keabsahannya melalui triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meaningful learning terwujud saat guru mengaitkan materi dengan kehidupan sehari-hari dan nilai-nilai Islam; mindful learning muncul melalui aktivitas yang mendorong siswa berpikir dan belajar secara sadar; sedangkan joyful learning diimplementasikan melalui pembelajaran kreatif, menyenangkan, dan partisipatif. Integrasi ketiga prinsip ini membentuk pembelajaran mendalam yang sesuai karakteristik siswa. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada pemetaan terpadu tiga prinsip pembelajaran tersebut dalam konteks sekolah Islam terpadu tingkat dasar.

Abstract

In recent years, there has been a rapid development in Artificial Intelligence (AI), including AI translators. AI translator tools are utilized in education, especially in language learning. The current study aims to investigate the utilization of AI translators to improve the quality of students' writing in an EFL classroom. This research is a quantitative study using a questionnaire to collect data from 40 EFL students in one of the state universities in Surabaya. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent-samples t-test. The results show that most students perceive positive attitudes, such as that AI translators is easy to use, can improve their writing and translation quality, and many others. However, they agreed with the negative statements, such as that machine translation is considered cheating, the issue of dependence, etc. This study also revealed no significant differences in writing quality between the students who have positive and negative attitudes towards the utilization of AI translators.
