Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between Instagram use and self-disclosure among adolescents, focusing on how self-esteem and the quality of close personal relationships influence their online social expression. Method: A total of 204 adolescent Instagram users participated in this quantitative study. Data were collected using three validated psychological scales: the self-esteem scale (α = 0.882), the close friendship scale (α = 0.896), and the self-disclosure scale (α = 0.853). Data analysis was conducted using Pearson correlation with SPSS 25 for Windows. Results: The findings revealed a significant positive correlation (r = 0.662, p < 0.05) between self-esteem, close friendships, and self-disclosure. Furthermore, 64.3% of the variance in self-disclosure was explained by self-esteem and the quality of personal relationships, indicating that adolescents with higher self-esteem and stronger close friendships are more likely to engage in self-disclosure on Instagram. Novelty: This study highlights the role of Instagram as a digital space for adolescent self-expression and provides empirical evidence on the psychological factors that enhance self-disclosure in social media contexts, offering valuable insights for digital literacy and youth mental health initiatives.

Abstract

Physics laboratories often face difficulties managing practicums, especially in scheduling, equipment tracking, assessment, and evaluation of practicum results. The mismatch between practicum needs and resource availability usually results in delays, administrative errors, and increased workload of laboratory staff. This study proposes the development of a Physics Laboratory Practicum Management Information System (SIPRAKFIS) to optimize practicum management in physics laboratories. The research method used is R&D with a waterfall development model, which includes communication, planning, modeling, construction, and deployment stages. SIPRAKFIS was developed using the PHP MySQL programming language. System testing was done through unit testing, functionality, usability, and implementation. The study results indicate that SIPRAKFIS is feasible to use in practicum management and can be accessed online via www.labfisikauin.com. Unit testing on the login system was declared victorious. Functional testing obtained good results, namely a functional value of 1. Usability testing obtained a value of 82.59%. Deployment testing showed that the system can be run on various browsers, namely Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer. SIPRAKFIS can help facilitate the management of practicum services, reduce administrative errors, speed up the practicum scheduling process, and facilitate equipment monitoring and reporting of practicum values. The results of this study can also be further developed for research and testing services.

Abstract

In most countries in the world, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are considered as a serious threat, they pose great impact on individual, family, and community. The impacts of STIs on women are usually more severe and more difficult to be diagnosed than impacts on men because STIs usually occurred without observable symptoms, and usually woman has guilty feeling and embarrassed about their condition and thus hinder them to look for medication. These make STIs a hidden burden for women. Prevalence of STIs in Indonesia according to several studies in 1990-2000 periods is quite high. One strategy to break the infection chain is to promote condom use among women sex workers (WSW). This study aims at investigating factors related to condom use practice among street WSW in East Jakarta. The design of this study is cross-sectional with quantitative approach, and using primary data of 112 street WSW. The study found that there are 60.7% respondents who use condom in the last sexual activity. Multivariate analysis shows that the most dominant factor is the experience on suffering from STIs infection, with OR 3.55. Age, level of education, working duration as WSW, knowledge on STIs, and exposure on STIs information, all have no statistically significant relationship with condom use practice. It is suggested that to increase the access and availability of condom, to increase the quality and quantity of information, education, and communication activities by strengthening networking and partnership with related sectors, and to empower the WSW themselves on disseminating and spreading information on STIs and condom.

Abstract

The SARS-CoV-2 transmission dynamics in low- and middle-income countries remain poorly understood. This study aimed to estimate the SARS-CoV-2 antibodies seroprevalence in Jakarta, Indonesia, and to increase knowledge of SARS-CoV-2 transmission in urban settings. A population-based serosurvey among individuals aged one year or older was conducted in Jakarta. Employing a multistage sampling design, samples were stratified by district, slum, and non-slum residency, sex, and age group. Blood samples were tested for IgG against three different SARS-CoV-2 antigens. Seroprevalence was estimated after applying sample weights and adjusting for cluster characteristics. In March 2021, this study collected 4,919 respondents. The weighted estimate of seroprevalence was 44.5% (95% CI = 42.5-46.5). Seroprevalence was highest among adults aged 30-49 years, with higher seroprevalence in women and the overweight/obese group. Respondents residing in slum areas were 1.3-fold more likely to be seropositive than non-slum residents. It was estimated that4,717,000 of Jakarta's 10.6 million residents had prior SARS-CoV-2 infection. This suggests that approximately 10 infections were undiagnosed/underreported for every reported case. About one year after the first COVID-19 case was confirmed, close to half of Jakarta's residents have been infected by SARS-CoV-2.
