Abstract

The drainage channel along Gatot Subroto Road in Karangpawitan District, Garut Regency, extends about 1,580 meters in an open rectangular form with varying cross-sectional dimensions. Reports from the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (UPT PUPR) indicate frequent overflow and partial malfunction, mainly due to additional inflow from residential drainage and undersized sections. These conditions contribute to recurrent flooding, disruption of community activities, and accelerated pavement deterioration. This study aims to quantify design flood discharge, assess the hydraulic capacity of the existing system, evaluate pavement condition influenced by runoff, and recommend redesigned channel dimensions using hydrological hydraulic analysis with the SWMM model. A quantitative approach was applied, integrating rainfall frequency analysis, hydraulic evaluation, and Pavement Condition Index (PCI) surveys. The results show that under a 2 year return period, most segments performed adequately, whereas at 5 and 10 year periods several sections exceeded their capacity. PCI surveys yielded an average value of 58.66, categorized as “Fair,” with critical segments falling into failure due to uncontrolled runoff. After redesign, channel performance improved substantially, with Max/Full Flow ratios consistently below 1 across all segments and return periods. The findings confirm a direct relationship between drainage performance and pavement deterioration. Integrating SWMM based modeling with PCI analysis provides a robust framework for diagnosing deficiencies and formulating technical recommendations. These results are consistent with previous studies, emphasizing that drainage adequacy and pavement condition must be addressed together to improve resilience and extend the service life of urban road infrastructure.

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed education from a predominantly human-centred enterprise into a technologically mediated ecosystem that reshapes how knowledge is produced, distributed, and validated. This article examines the epistemological, ethical, and humanistic implications of AI’s growing influence on learning environments, drawing on philosophical perspectives and critical pedagogy. AI is increasingly functioning as an epistemic actor capable of predicting outcomes, personalising learning pathways, and making automated decisions, thereby shifting educational authority away from teachers and toward algorithmic systems. This shift raises profound questions about bias, privacy, social justice, and the normative purpose of education. Through an analysis of epistemic transformation, the reconceptualization of teacher roles, and emerging ethical challenges, the article argues for a humanistic framework that resists metric reductionism and reaffirms education as a project of liberation and human dignity. Teachers are positioned not merely as technology operators but as curators of knowledge, moral mediators, and critical agents who ensure that AI serves humane and democratic educational aims. The article concludes by offering a normative horizon for AI-integrated education and outlining future research directions for building ethically grounded, humanising educational ecosystems.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the psychometric quality of a higher order thinking skills instrument in the topic of the human organ system for junior high school science learning. A descriptive quantitative approach was applied to analyze the validity, reliability, difficulty index, discrimination power, and distractor effectiveness. The instrument consisted of ten multiple-choice items developed based on the revised Bloom’s taxonomy at levels C4-C6. Content validity was examined by two experts using Aiken’s V, while empirical validity was tested with the Pearson Product-Moment correlation. The reliability coefficient was calculated using KR-20. The results show that the content validity values ranged from 0.83 to 0.94 (very valid), and the reliability coefficient reached 0.78 (high category). Eight items demonstrated moderate difficulty, seven items had good discrimination power, and 70 percent of distractors functioned effectively. These findings indicate that the developed HOTS instrument is psychometrically sound and feasible for strengthening 21st-century science assessment, although several items require minor revision to improve balance in difficulty and distractor performance.

Abstract

Early childhood literacy skills are an important foundation for literacy development and academic readiness. However, many children aged 4–5 years still have difficulty recognizing letters and initial sounds of words due to monotonous learning and minimal use of concrete media. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of letter sticker media in improving early childhood literacy skills at Nurul Hikmah PAUD. The study was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method in two cycles, including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 16 children aged 4–5 years. The results showed a significant increase in children's literacy skills, from an average of 39% in the pre-cycle with a dominance of the Not Yet Developing (BB) and Starting to Develop (MB) categories, increasing to 58% in the first cycle with more children entering the Developing According to Expectations (BSH) category, to reaching 82% in the second cycle with the majority of children in the BSH and Very Well Developing (BSB) categories. These findings prove that letter sticker media can be an effective, enjoyable, and developmentally appropriate learning strategy for early childhood. In conclusion, this study shows that letter sticker media can be an effective, fun learning strategy, and is appropriate to the developmental stages of early childhood, so it is worthy of being adopted in PAUD education practices.

Abstract

This study reveals that the service quality at Dirasa Kopi has not fully met customer expectations, as indicated by negative GAP values across all SERVQUAL dimensions. Reliability shows the largest gap, followed by Responsiveness, reflecting a misalignment between promised and delivered services as well as limitations in staff speed and responsiveness. Through Quality Function Deployment (QFD), these findings were translated into improvement priorities, in which staff training was identified as the primary strategy due to its direct influence on service consistency and delivery speed. Expansion of seating areas and additional menu variations serve as supporting measures to enhance customer comfort and overall experience. Thus, the results obtained confirm that improving staff competency is the most determining factor in closing the service quality gap at Dirasa Kopi. The results of this study are expected to serve as managerial guidance for Dirasa Kopi in improving service quality, strengthening service performance, and ultimately enhancing its competitive advantage to remain sustainable and gain customer loyalty.
