Abstract

Poverty reduction under the Sustainable Development Goals remains constrained by the persistence of vulnerable poor households, particularly in Sulawesi, where limited income and rising health expenditures increase the risk of falling into poverty despite being above the poverty line. This study aims to determine the income of vulnerable low-income households on Sulawesi Island using SUSENAS 2023 data and to analyze the ratio of health expenditure to rice expenditure. It is descriptive quantitative research using SUSENAS 2023 secondary data. The research population is 47,478 households, focusing on a sample of 9,223 vulnerable low-income households defined by expenditure of 1.0-1.5 times the provincial poverty line. Results show 9,223 vulnerable low-income households spread across six provinces. Central Sulawesi has the highest vulnerability threshold, while West Sulawesi has the lowest, reflecting regional price differences. Living costs increase economic vulnerability. The proportion of non-prescription health expenditure is highest in Central and Southeast Sulawesi, where it exceeds rice expenditure. Purchasing non-prescription drugs is common due to easier access and lower cost, despite risks of irrational use. Government social assistance for low-income households includes direct cash transfers, national health insurance, and food aid.

Abstract

Asphalt Mixing Plant (AMP) is used to produce asphalt mixtures. Type of asphalt used in this research is the Asphalt Concrete Binder Course (AC – BC). This study aims to determine the stages of the asphalt manufacturing process and material needed using the Asphalt Mixing Plant (AMP) in one day of production. The method used in this research is the interview method and the direct observation method to the location of the Asphalt Mixing Plant PT. Alhas Jaya Group. There are three stages to produce the Asphalt Concrete Binder Course (AC – BC). The first stage includes hard asphalt, heating, hot asphalt preparation, and weighing. The second stage begins with stockpiling aggregates, transporting aggregates into cold bin, drying/heating, filtering aggregates, and weighing. The third stage is the preparation of additional materials (if needed) and weighing. Producing asphalt concrete binder course for one day of production consist of 15-20 mm coarse aggregate of 90 tons/day or 70 m3/day, 0-5 mm fine aggregate of 72 tons/day or 49 m3/day, fine sand of 88 .2 tonnes/day or 60 m3/day, rock ash of 90 tonnes or 62 m3/day and asphalt of 19.8 tonnes/day or 19 m3/day.

Abstract

Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs) are organic compounds that are not classified as plant nutrients but are biologically active at low concentrations and can stimulate, inhibit, or modify plant growth and development. The objective of this community service program was to develop a fermentation technique for bamboo shoots into a PGR solution and to enhance farmers’ capacity through extension services and hands-on training. This program was implemented by lecturers and students of Politeknik Indonesia Venezuela in Cot Cut Village, Kutabaro Sub-district, Aceh Besar Regency. The activities included field observation and the fermentation of bamboo shoots to produce PGRs. The fermentation process successfully yielded a dark-colored PGR solution with a characteristic aroma. The local community of Cot Cut Village showed strong enthusiasm for this program because it used natural materials that are inexpensive, readily available, and environmentally friendly. This activity demonstrates that bamboo shoots have significant potential as a source of natural PGRs and can serve as an innovative component of environmentally sustainable agriculture. Through this approach, bamboo shoots are expected to provide a simple yet impactful solution in supporting sustainable, locally based agricultural practices in Cot Cut Village, Kutabaro Sub-district, Aceh Besar Regency.

Abstract

Vulvovaginal candidiasis is the second most common cause of vaginitis after bacterial vaginosis with at least 75 – 80% of women have had one episode of VVC in their lifetime. Their prevalent resistance to most commonly used antifungal agents makes their treatment a challenge to physicians. Flavonoids have been shown to possess potent anti-Candida properties which can inhibit the growth and proliferation of Candida species through various mechanisms, including inhibition of fungal cell wall synthesis, disruption of fungal cell membrane integrity, and interference with fungal cell signaling pathways. Their potency makes them potential candidates for the development of antifungal agents for the treatment of candidiasis, alone or in combination with existing antifungal drugs. The review aims to explore the mechanisms by which flavonoids inhibit the growth and proliferation of Candida species, including the inhibition of fungal cell wall synthesis, disruption of fungal cell membrane integrity, and interference with fungal cell signaling pathways.

Consuming wild boar meat is still popular among the people of Sekaran Village, Tuban Regency, even though the religion they believe in is Islam. The aim of this research is to investigate people's perceptions of the consumption of wild boar meat, to know the background of people who consume wild boar meat and to know the distribution of wild boar meat in the Tuban area. This research was carried out in several stages, namely observation, interviews using a sample of 100 respondents and documentation. Perception measurement uses a likert scale with an assessment score of 1-3 scores and data processing uses descriptive statistical analysis and correlation analysis. The results showed that the relationship between wild boar meat consumption has a positive effect on the halal knowledge perspective, with a significant value of 0.043 (p<0.05). This means that people know that consuming wild boar meat is not Halal, but people still consume it. There is a belief and perception among local people that consuming wild boar meat is a good and proud thing. They are also known that consuming wild boar meat is not good for health and distributing wild boar meat was contrary with government regulations but they still consume and distribute it. Abstract

The co-infection of HIV with helminthiasis might accelerate the progression of HIV to AIDS, making a thorough comprehension of this condition essential for patients. This counseling session was conducted in the Ilir Timur 2 District (Dobu Coffee) with 30 HIV patients, employing a face-to-face methodology that included presentations by speakers and laboratory analyses of fecal materials. The comprehension was evaluated using a pre-test and post-test involving 34 participants, yielding an average pre-test score of 51.42 (standard deviation: 16.75) and a post-test score of 71.39 (standard deviation: 16.96), demonstrating a significant improvement. A PCR study indicated that 24 patients were positive for helminth infections. The results suggested a beneficial effect on participants' knowledge, but with score discrepancies. The detection of helminth infections in patients demands further investigation, including investigations on the correlation between helminth infections and the immune function of HIV patients. Additionally, routine examinations must be conducted as an integral part of patient health surveillance to guarantee beneficial early detection.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the relationship between environmental factors temperature, humidity, and rainfall, and dengue infection incidence in Palembang City, with emphasis on temporal lag effects and their implications for disease surveillance and control. A quantitative descriptive study was conducted using monthly secondary data from 2021 to 2023. Time-series descriptive analysis and lag correlation methods were applied to examine both concurrent and delayed associations between the environmental variables and dengue case counts. While temperature and humidity showed no consistent concurrent association with dengue incidence, rainfall demonstrated a notable lag-1 effect, whereby increased rainfall in a given month was followed by a rise in dengue cases one month later. This temporal pattern suggests that post-rainfall accumulation of standing water may facilitate mosquito breeding and subsequently elevate transmission risk. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating temporal environmental indicators into dengue early warning systems. Integrating rainfall lag patterns into public health monitoring could support more timely and targeted prevention efforts in Palembang and comparable urban settings across Indonesia.
