Abstract

Objective: This study aims to describe the profile of multiple intelligences among high school students in physics learning. The goal is to provide a basis for designing more adaptive and personalized instructional strategies that align with students' cognitive strengths. Method: A quantitative descriptive method with a survey approach was employed, involving 101 students from three different classes. Data were collected using a Likert-scale-based multiple intelligences questionnaire encompassing eight intelligence domains: verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and reliability testing. Results: The findings revealed that intrapersonal (78.320%), interpersonal (77.030%), kinesthetic (76.780%), and naturalist (76.440%) intelligence were the most dominant among students. Verbal-linguistic (70.050%), musical (71.830%), visual-spatial (69.110%), and logical-mathematical (64.500%) also showed notable representation. EFA identified ten principal components that explained 65.040% of the total Variance. Reliability analysis showed that most factors had adequate Cronbach's Alpha values (> 0.700), although some required refinement. Novelty: This study provides updated empirical insights into high school students' multiple intelligences in physics learning, with a focus on the emerging dominance of kinesthetic, intrapersonal, and naturalist intelligence. It also incorporates recent psychometric validation using EFA, underscoring the need for intelligence-based instructional design. The novelty lies in combining psychological profiling with physics-specific pedagogy in a Merdeka Belajar framework.

Abstract

Objective: The study aims to determine the profile of students' critical thinking skills using E-Instruments. In this study, the profile of students' critical thinking skills, as assessed with conventional tests and E-instruments, is also compared. Method: The analysis of critical thinking skills profiles was conducted using quantitative methods. The study was conducted at a high school in East Java, Indonesia, that had used the independent curriculum. The population of this study was sampled purposively, comprising 65 students. Results: The profile of students' critical thinking skills in physics material is still relatively low. Based on the Wilcoxon test, the findings indicate that there is no significant difference between the test results obtained from conventional tests and those from E-instruments. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in the application of E-instruments as a substitute for conventional instruments in measuring students' critical thinking skills. Its manifestation is in the implementation of point 4 of the SDGs, which aims to improve the quality of education in the field of digital technology. On the other hand, the level of students' critical thinking skills is determined by the difficulty of the material and the skill indicators that are drilled. In the future, comprehensive learning devices and models can be developed as alternatives to enhance students' skills, particularly in the use of digital technology, including media, devices, and assessment instruments, thereby increasing students' enthusiasm for learning.

Abstract

The development of 21st-century learning demands all aspects of development with the integration of technology and innovation so it becomes a challenge in the world of education. In addition to innovative technology, the challenge in education is to improve students' critical thinking skills (CTS). The purpose of this study is to analyze students' CTS through physics learning based on geometric wave phenomena. The method used in this study is quantitative descriptive. Data collection techniques are obtained from observation results, critical thinking test instruments, and student response questionnaires. Data analysis techniques using EFA (exploratory factor analysis) include the eigenvalue factor and alpha Cronbach (MPF and BAPF). Based on the results of the CTS questionnaire, 75 students have low CTS with EFA results on Eigenvalue obtaining values from two factors of 0.507 and 0.907, then the Cronbach alpha value on two factors (MPF and BAPF) is 0.825 and 0.443. The results show that the level of CTS is included in the low category with a score of 13.75%. One of the factors that results in low skill scores is the lack of facilities in the form of interactive LKPD teaching materials

Abstract

Sustainability is a major challenge in the 21st century that must be managed by physics learning. This study aims to explore students' sustainability literacy in the context of energy conservation and transformation through physics questions created with an environmental approach. This study uniquely integrates local pesantren contexts into physics education to address sustainability literacy, offering a novel contribution to science education by incorporating cultural and contextual relevance. With a descriptive exploration of 30 grade X students from senior high school Nurul Jadid, the research was conducted using tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The results on the knowledge dimension showed that students performed very well at low cognitive levels, but higher-order thinking skills, especially evaluation and creation, were still low. In the skill dimension, students' ability to solve problems was moderate, with weaknesses in the aspects of evaluation and reflection. Although students responded well to the contextual problems, many had difficulty in drawing energy transformation schemes. These results indicate the need for more practical and contextualized learning to strengthen sustainability literacy in physics learning.

Abstract

The advancement of science and technology requires students to possess strong scientific literacy, particularly in understanding physical phenomena such as elasticity. However, students often demonstrate a low conceptual understanding of elasticity in real-life contexts, posing a challenge in physics education. This study aims to analyze students’ physics literacy skills using the Nature of Science Literacy Test (NOSLiT) instrument. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach with a sample of 30 students from classes A, B, and C. Data were collected through a written test based on the NOSLiT framework, which consists of six scientific literacy indicators, and analyzed quantitatively using achievement categories. The findings revealed that students' overall scientific literacy achievement was categorized as low (43.2%). The highest achievement was on the scientific evidence rule indicator (58.8%, moderate category), while the lowest was on science process skills (24.3%, very low category). These results suggest the need for more interactive and experiment-based instructional strategies to enhance students’ conceptual understanding. Students' responses were mostly descriptive and lacked evidence-based reasoning, with misconceptions about relationships among physics variables still apparent. These findings emphasize the importance of incorporating scientific practices—such as experimentation, evidence utilization, and contextual problem-solving—into teaching. This study was limited to a single school and instrument, which restricts the generalizability of the results. Future research should include a broader sample and adopt a mixed-method approach to obtain more comprehensive insights. Moreover, the development of inquiry-based learning models is crucial to support the advancement of students' scientific literacy.

Abstract

The low level of scientific literacy among elementary school students is a serious challenge in the world of education, especially in facing the demands of the 21st century which emphasizes critical thinking skills, problem solving, and understanding scientific concepts. One of the causes is the lack of interesting learning media that can accommodate students' learning needs as a whole. Therefore, innovation is needed in the form of interactive learning multimedia that can present material in an attractive visual way and actively involve students. This study aims to implement and examine the effectiveness of using interactive learning multimedia in improving elementary school students' scientific literacy. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to analyze and synthesize various relevant studies on the implementation of interactive learning multimedia in the context of improving scientific literacy. Data were collected from various reputable national and international journals in the period 2017 to 2023, using databases such as Google Scholar, DOAJ, and GARUDA. The selection process was carried out with strict inclusion and exclusion criteria to obtain relevant and quality articles. A total of 10 articles were selected for analysis. The results of the study showed that most studies concluded that interactive multimedia has a positive influence on improving students' scientific literacy skills. This media has been proven to improve conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, and increase students' interest and motivation to learn. In addition, the use of visual elements, animation, and simulation in multimedia can bridge students' difficulties in understanding abstract concepts in science. Thus, it can be concluded that interactive learning multimedia tends to be effective and relevant in improving elementary school students' scientific literacy. However, limitations such as small sample sizes or context-specific findings in some studies should be considered. These findings provide implications for teachers, media developers, and policy makers to integrate multimedia technology more optimally in science learning.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively describe the profile of critical thinking skills among fifth-grade students at SDN Masangan Wetan in the context of learning about the human digestive system. The research focuses on identifying both internal and external factors that support or hinder the development of critical thinking skills. Using an essay-based assessment grounded in Facione’s framework, which includes interpretation, analysis, inference, and evaluation, the study measured students’ critical thinking abilities. Additionally, interviews with teachers provided insights into the instructional strategies, media usage, and teaching models employed to foster critical thinking. The findings show that students’ critical thinking skills vary across different indicators, with the highest proficiency in interpretation and the lowest in evaluation. Internal factors such as motivation, cognitive ability, and self-efficacy positively influence skill development, while external factors including a supportive learning environment, innovative teaching methods, and diverse educational media also play crucial roles. The study found that integrated, interactive media and student-centered models like Problem-Based Learning and collaborative learning significantly enhance critical thinking. Conversely, conventional teaching practices and limited media use restrict students’ critical thinking growth. Teacher interviews highlighted the importance of practical learning activities and varied instructional materials to engage students actively. These results underscore the necessity for educators to implement multifaceted approaches that address both student-internal and environmental factors to optimize critical thinking development. The study involved a total sample of 35 students, and quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, with mean scores and standard deviations reported to illustrate proficiency levels across critical thinking indicators. Ultimately, the research contributes valuable evidence for educational stakeholders seeking to improve science education quality through enhanced critical thinking skills, especially in primary education settings. Future studies are recommended to include larger samples and statistical tests such as t-tests or ANOVA to strengthen the generalizability and significance of findings.
