Abstract

This research studies about improving students’ speaking ability by using describing pictures at the first year of SMK Negeri 3 Enrekang. The problem statement of this research was “does the use of describing pictures improve the students speaking ability at the first year of SMK Negeri 3 Enrekang. The objective of this research was intended to know whether or not using describing pictures can improve the students’ speaking ability at the first year of SMK Negeri 3 Enrekang. This research applied quasi experimental method with one class of experimental group and one class in control group. The researcher used pre-test and post-test in collecting data. The research sample was the students of the first year they were Administrasi Perkantoran 1 and administrasi perkantoran 2. Class consists of 20 students, so the researcher took probability sample that was cluster sampling technique. The data analyzed by finding the mean score. For collecting data, the researcher used instrument namely oral test to measure the students’ speaking ability. The result of this research showed that the student’ speaking ability was low classification in pre-test with the mean score 56.34 for experimental class and the mean score of control class was 52.74 and it was poor categorized. However after doing the treatment by using describing pictures they got good classification for experimental group (73.28) and still poor for control group (55.78) in post-test. The data was analyzed by using T-test and the result showed that the T-test value (7.023) was higher than T-table (2.042). It means that there was a significance different of students’ speaking ability before and after the treatment through the application of describing pictures. It concluded that describing pictures can be used in improving speaking ability of the students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors influencing the students' learning difficulties at Muhammadiyah University of Enrekang as well as their problems learning English. This research is qualitative by collecting information from thirty students in the counseling guidance study program. The outcome of this assessment, which employed a descriptive methodology, revealed that speaking skills were the area in which students had the most trouble learning. Students' lack of self-confidence, lack of motivation, lack of speaking ability, difficulty memorizing vocabulary, lack of listening ability, lack of practicing pronunciation, lack of understanding the material, lack of practice partner, learning media, lack of writing ability, lack of reading ability, translating, feeling that learning English is not important, and lack of having a practice partner are the factors that make learning English difficult for students.

Abstract

This Article aims to describe whether there is the interplay of self confidance and communicative competence of junior high school where the students of SMP 9 Pinrang is as place to apply research. This research uses cluster sumpling method and oral test. The population in this research is the students of class VII SMPN 9 Pinrang. The total population is 104 students. The sample used is class VIIL.1 amounted to 28 students. The method used in the assessment of speech is an oral test. Result of research by using Pearson Product Moment obtained r value count 0,700 and with value of product r product moment product with N = 28 found 0,478 at significant level 1% and found 0,374 at level signifikan5%. And to know the level of product moment correlation then coefficient 0.61-0.80 = substantial.Thus it can be interpreted to the rxy that between variable X and variable Y. It can be seen on the analysis result that is: 0,700> 0,478 (5%) and 0,700 0,374 (1%) with d.b:28. This means Ho is rejected and Ha accepted. The conclusion in this study is there is a significant relationship between student self-confidence and speaking ability of eight-year students SMPN 9 Pinrang.

Abstract

The Article aim is to describe (1) whether or not the use of interactive multimedia improve students reading comprehension in the Eighth-Grade of SMP Negeri 4 Panca Rijang and (2) whether or not the use of interactive multimedia intereststudents’in learning reading comprehension in the Eighth-Grade of SMP Negeri 4 Panca Rijang. This research employed mixed method design that applied experimental and control group. The population of the research was the Eighth Grad estudents of SMP Negeri4 Panca Rijang. Total number of population was 82students and two classes of them were taken as sample by using cluster sampling technique, class VIII.C as experimental group and class VIII.D as control group. The number of each class was 20 students so the total sample of the research was 40 students. The result of data analysis showed that there was significant difference between achievement of the students who used interactive multimedia and those who did not use interactive multimedia (conventional technique) in reading comprehension. It was proved by the mean score of experimental group was higher than control group in post-test (59.35>46.75). Furthermore, the result of the t-test value (3.581) was greater than t-table (α = 0.05;df = 38; t-table = 2.021) which means that H1 was accepted. The data analysis of questionnaire showed that the students had high interest toward the use of interactive multimedia in reading comprehension. It was supported by 4 students (20%) who were strongly interested, 14 students (70%) who were interested and 2 students (10%) who were moderate. The mean score of students’ answers in questionnaire (79.55) was classified as interested category.Based on the data analysis, the researcher concluded that: (1)the application of interactive multimedia enhanced the students’ ability in reading comprehension; (2) the application of interactive multimedia strategy in reading comprehension was interesting for the students.

Abstract

In eastern Indonesia, students face various difficulties in learning English. Especially English translation skills are their weak point. It is important to think about how our students' problems in using English have a certain foundation. This article investigates the problems of Indonesian English learners by analyzing some of the mistakes in their English-Indonesian translations in four aspects. This paper also offers some solutions to the problem. This study follows a descriptive and analytical method. This research was applied to students at the Faculty of Education, Muhammadiyah University of Enrekang, third year students. The student subjects consisted of 23 students studying English at the English Language Education Study Program at Muhammadiyah Enrekang University. The findings of this study emphasize that Indonesian students, especially eastern Indonesia, face problems in translation. Analysis of translation errors from the semantic category is more dominant on errors involving inappropriate word choices and the use of prepositions. In the syntactic errors’ category, the dominant error is the use of tenses. Whereas in pragmatic errors, the errors that often appear are excessive literal translations or ambiguous translations and also missing words or meanings or omission words. Students have insufficient background knowledge about how to translate English into Indonesian or vice versa. Based on these findings, the researcher recommends that translation should be considered when it is taught. Students should be given many topics to translate during their academic year and lecturers should use motivating methods to improve students' skills in translation.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the most frequent errors students make in writing recount texts. This study used a descriptive method with quantitative data analysis techniques to answer the questions posed. The scope of this research is limited to the grammatical analysis and writing mechanism of the components of the fourth recount text written by third year students of UMS Rappang. These errors are classified into six categories: errors in the use of verb forms; thr use of the article; use of prepositions; noun pluralization; use of pronouns; use of conjunctions. The findings of the study showed that the most frequent errors students made were in the use of verb forms, punctuation marks, prepositions, nouns, articles and pronouns. It can be concluded that students have not mastered grammar well. They face many problems in English in general and in writing English in particular.

Abstract

Ekosistem mangrove adalah ekosistem peralihan antara daratan dan lautan yang didominasi oleh vegetasi mangrove yang toleran terhadap salinitas dan berada didaerah pasang surut. Produktivitas ekosistem mangrove lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan ekosistem lain dan merupakan mata rantai ekologis yang sangat penting bagi kehidupan makhluk hidup yang hidup di perairan sekitarnya. Mangrove memiliki banyak manfaat baik dari segi ekologi, ekonomi, maupun segi sosial. Ketapang Urban Aquaculture merupakan salah satu destinasi ekowisata di Kabupaten Tangerang yang bergerak pada bidang konservasi mangrove yang telah ditanam sejak 2019. Ketapang Urban Aquaculture resmi dibuka pada tahun 2023 dan terletak di Desa Ketapang, Kecamatan Mauk, Kabupaten Tangerang. Salah satu tempat wisata alam di Ketapang Urban Aquaculture menawarkan keindahan pohon mangrove dan pemandangan pantai yang indah. Meskipun pengembangan pariwisata menawarkan banyak keuntungan, perlu dilakukan upaya untuk mempertahankan fungsi dan peran yang dimilikinya. Cara yang bisa dilakukan diantaranya adalah dengan memperhatikan kesehatan hutan mangrove untuk mempertahankan fungsi dan peran serta kelestariannya. Dalam mengamati perubahan ekosistem mangrove di masa depan, data kesehatan mangrove dapat digunakan sebagai dasar dalam mempertimbangkan kebijakan yang bisa dilakukan. Hasil analisis diharapkan bermanfaat sehingga dapat memberikan rekomendasi tentang cara mengelola hutan mangrove untuk menjaga kelestarian mereka. The productivity of the mangrove ecosystem is higher compared to other ecosystems and is a link in the ecological chain very important for the life of living creatures that live in the surrounding waters. Mangroves have many benefits both in terms of ecology, economy and other aspects social. Ketapang Urban Aquaculture is one of the ecotourism destinations in Tangerang Regency which operates in the field of mangrove conservation has planted since 2019. Ketapang Urban Aquaculture will officially open in 2023 and is located in Ketapang Village, Mauk District, Tangerang Regency. One of Natural tourist attractions in Ketapang Urban Aquaculture offer the beauty of trees mangroves and beautiful beach views. Despite development tourism offers many benefits, efforts need to be made to maintain its functions and roles. Ways that can be done one of them is by paying attention to the health of mangrove forests maintain its function and role and sustainability. In observing changes in the mangrove ecosystem in the future, mangrove health data can used as a basis for considering policies that can be implemented. It is hoped that the results of the analysis will be useful so that they can provide recommendations about how to manage mangrove forests to maintain their sustainability. Abstract

Kegiatan tridarma perguruan tinggi adalah aktifitas yang wajib dilaksanakan oleh dosen, yang salah satu kegiatannya adalah Pengabdian pada masyarakat (PPM). Aktualisasi PPM dapat berupa pemberian Training Kompetensi kepada guru-guru sekolah vokasi (SMK). Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan SDM tenaga pendidik yang dapat ditularkan kepada peserta didik.Kegiatan ini berupa pelatihan kepada guru-guru se Kabupaten Sintang dibidang Otomasi Industri berbasis Outseal PLC. Tujuannya selain untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dan murid SMK di Sintang, juga untuk memperkenalkan teknologi murah otomasi berupa outseal seal PLC berbasis piranti mikrokontroller. Sehingga teknologi ini nantinya dapat menjadi alternatif pilihan dalam pengembangan modul praktikum di SMK-SMK se Kabupaten Sintang. Tempat pelaksanaan kegiatan di SMK Negeri 1 Sintang yang diikuti oleh 8 guru perwakilan jurusan teknik listrik, jurusan teknik elektronika dan jurusan audio vidio. Dan juga melibatkan 8 siswa semester XII yang akan melaksanakan kegiatan praktek kerja industri. Waktu pelaksanaan selama 4 hari dari tanggal 5 Oktober sampai 8 Oktober 2022, dengan durasi 32 jam pertemuan. Kegiatan ini juga melibatkan mahasiswa semester VI Program Studi Teknik Elektronika Jurusan Teknik Elektro sebagai pendamping pelaksanaan pelaksanaan pelatihan dan sebagai pembuat modul-modul latih praktikum. Hasil kegiatan terlaksananya pelatihan yang sangat antusias diikuti oleh peserta pelatihan dengan penuh selama 32 jam kegiatan. Selama pelaksanaan peserta aktif dalam melakukan percobaan sehingga memiliki kemampuan dalam membuat program, melakukan komunikasi antara perangkat PC ke Outseal PLC, mampu melakukan instalasi instrumen input dan output dan mampu mengoperasikan perangkat kontrol (PLC Outseal). Dan hasil kegiatan lain SMK memiliki ketetarikan dalam mengembangkan perangkat praktik otomasi berbasis Outseal PLC dan team PPM siap untuk membantu dalam pengembangan modul praktikum mereka.

Abstract

Salah satu kewajiban tridarma yang wajib dilaksanakan oleh Dosen perguruan tinggi adalah Pengabdian pada masyarakat. Kegiatan tersebut dapat berupa pemberian pelatihan keterampilan ke masyarakat terinstitusi seperti Sekolah-sekolah Vokasi seperti SMK-SMK yang ada disekitar perguruan tinggi vokasi. Bidang pelatihan yang diberikan sesuai dengan kompetensi dari pelaksana PPM seperti bidang otomasi industri berbasis PLC, yang merupakan salah satu bidang kompetensi utama lulusan baik di SMK maupun di perguruan tinggi di teknik Listrik, elektronika industri, maupun di Mekatronika. Kegiatan PPM ini dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Sambas, di SMK Negeri 2 Pemangkat yang dilaksanakan selama 3 hari atau selama 30 jam pertemuan. Modul pratik otomasi yang pakai menggunakan kontroler PLC Outseal, yang merupakan PLC murah berbasis arduino nano dan mega, yang sudah mulai banyak digunakan pada industri-industri skala kecil dan menengah, mengingat PLC konvesional sangat mahal harganya. Dari hasil pre-test dan post test yang diberikan menunjukan penguasaan kemampuan dasar tentang PLC outseal sangat baik dimana dari kemampuan awal rata-rata 20 % penguasaan materi, menjadi 87 % setelah diberikan pelatihan . Dalam kegiatan ini dihibahkan 1 unit perangkat modul praktikum untuk menambah semangat para guru otomasi untuk meningkatkan kemampuannya. Dari sisi disain modul yang dibuat, SMK Negeri 2 Pemangkat sangat tertarik dengan permodelan modul yang dibuat, sehingga akan mencontoh teknologi yang digunakan. Pihak sekolah juga akan menindaklanjuti kegiatan ini dengan akan mengirim guru-guru ke POLNEP untuk memperdalam kompetensi dibidang otomasi industri.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The Integrated Field Experience Practice Program (PPL) and Field Work Lecture (KKN|) are one of the solutions to carry out tridharma in higher education when the Covid-19 case is increasing and restrictions on community activities are enforced. This Integrated PPL and KKN program chose a place at the Tahfizd Nurul Musthofa Tabalong Integrated Islamic Boarding School. This Islamic boarding school was chosen because it has implemented the health protocol properly and meets the qualifications for implementing the Integrated PPL and KKN programs. The tahfidz-based Islamic boarding school is supported by general learning, namely Junior High School and Madrasah Aliyah. This Integrated PPL and KKN succeeded in motivating students to memorize the Qur'an and conduct tahsin seminars in improving the makharijul letters of the Koran. Apart from that, a Women's Fiqh study program was also carried out specifically for female students, and a Muraqabah program to support and assist students in memorizing the Qur'an. Keywords: PPL, KKN, Integrated, Nurul Musthofa Islamic Boarding School   ABSTRAK Program Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan (PPL) dan Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN|) Terpadu merupakan salah satu solusi untuk menjalankan tridharma di perguruan tinggi ketika kasus Covid-19 semakin meningkat dan pembatasan kegiatan masyarakat diberlakukan. Program PPL dan KKN Terpadu ini memilih tempat di Pondok Pesantren Terpadu Tahfizd Nurul Musthofa Tabalong. Pondok Pesantren ini dipilih karena telah melakukan protokol kesehatan dengan baik dan memenuhi kualifikasi untuk dilaksanakannya program PPL dan KKN Terpadu, pondok pesantren berbasis tahfidz ditunjang dengan pembelajaran umum, yakni Sekolah Menengah Pertama dan Madrasah Aliyah. PPL dan KKN Terpadu ini berhasil memberikan motivasi pada santri dalam menghafal al-Qur’an dan melakukan seminar tahsin dalam memperbaiki makharijul huruf al-Qur’an. Selain itu, juga dilakukan program kajian Fiqh Wanita khusus untuk santriwati, dan program Muraqabah untuk menunjang dan membantu santri dalam menghafal al-Qur’an.
