Abstract

This study discussed the importance of having good communication skills. The assessment standard refers to Grice's cooperative maxims as the basis for communication in order to achieve the purpose of communication itself. The speaker and the interlocutor must obey the maxims, if not obeyed then what is called a maxim violation occurs. The object of this study is to identify Grice’s cooperative maxims flouting in Ellen Talk Show and also analyze how maxims flouting trigger humor in Ellen Talk Show. This study used content analysis which was categorized into descriptive qualitative method. The data were taken by communication between Elias Phoenix and Ellen. The observation of study was taken on YouTube as data collection then identified by using Grice’s technique which analyzing maxims flouting into four items such as flouting of quantity, quality, relation and manner maxims. The results of study revealed that there were those all of maxims flouting in communication between Elias Phoenix and Ellen in Ellen Talk Show. The data in total were 47 utterances which were involved quantity maxim was 14 utterances (30%), quality maxim was 9 utterances (19%), relation maxim was 4 utterances (9%) and manner was 20 utterances (42%). The most of maxim flouting was manner maxim, 20 utterances (42%). Therefore, the data was analyzed that referring to how flouting of maxims trigger humor in Ellen Talk Show. Abstract

This study examines the impact of ProWritingAid, an AI-driven writing tool, on improving writing accuracy and increasing confidence among vocational high school students studying English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Indonesia. The study examines the difficulties vocational students encounter in creating coherent and grammatically precise argumentation writings, highlighting the necessity for efficient technology assistance in their writing advancement. A qualitative case study methodology was employed to gather data using semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis involving 21 eleventh-grade students at SMK Al-Washliyah Sukra. Thematic analysis utilizing NVivo software was conducted to discern major trends in students' motivation, confidence, and challenges encountered while using ProWritingAid. The results indicate that ProWritingAid markedly improves students' motivation and self-assurance by delivering prompt, constructive feedback on grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure, together with progress monitoring that cultivates a sense of accomplishment. Challenges include restricted access to premium capabilities, the intricacy of advanced ideas, internet connectivity problems, and device limits were recognized as impediments to optimal tool utilization. Notwithstanding these challenges, the tool significantly enhanced writing precision, assisting students in generating clearer and more logical arguing compositions. The study emphasizes the significance of including AI writing tools as supplementary resources in vocational education, while warning against excessive reliance and highlighting the necessity for instructional oversight. The study's limitations encompass its brief duration, cultural distinctiveness, and dependence on a singular version of the tool, potentially impacting generalizability. Subsequent study ought to investigate longitudinal impacts, cross-cultural relevance, and the incorporation of new AI technologies to enhance writing education in vocational EFL settings.

Abstract

Urban farming merupakan usaha produksi pangan dengan memanfaatkan lahan sempit. Produk yang dihasilkan dapat berupa tanaman, sayuran, ikan atau produk pangan lainnya. Kegiatan urban farming menjadi suatu hal yang cukup fundamental pada masa-masa pandemi wabah virus corona. Melalui kegiatan urban farming tersebut, setiap orang diharapkan dapat melakukan kegiatan produktif, yaitu menghasilkan pangan mandiri untuk kebuhtuhan sehari-hari. Salah satu kegiatan urban farming pada sektor perikanan budidaya adalah dengan melakukan kegiatan budikdamber (budidaya ikan di dalam ember). Budidaya ikan pada wabah berupa ember memiliki keterbatasan, yaitu kapasitas produksi dan pemahaman akan tekhnologinya yang masih terbatas. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan suatu upaya agar dapat memaksimalkan kegiatan budidaya ikan yang dilakukan pada lahan yang sangat sempit tersebut sehingga mampu menghasilkan produk ikan dengan kapasitas yang maksimal. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan memberikan bimbingan tekhnis kepada mitra yang terlibat dalam hal aplikasi tekhnologi budikdamber (budidaya ikan dalam ember). Target luaran yang ingin dicapai dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah pemahaman dan kemampuan masyarakat yang baik dalam mengelola budidaya ikan terutama menggunakan lahan yang sempit. Bagi pelaksana kegiatan, kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menghasilkan sebuah artikel ilmiah bidang pengabdian yang disubmit pada jurnal nasional terakreditasi Sinta. Selain itu, luaran yang diharapkan tercapai adalah surat pernyataan pemanfaatan hasil riset oleh mitra masyarakat.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh dukungan orang tua, kesejahteraan guru, dan praktik pengalaman lapangan (PPL) terhadap minat profesi guru pada mahasiswa Pendidikan Ekonomi Universitas Negeri Semarang. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Pendidikan Ekonomi angkatan 2017 dan 2018 sebanyak 605 mahasiswa yang terdiri dari tiga jurusan yaitu Pendidikan Administrasi Perkantoran, Pendidikan Koperasi, dan Pendidikan Akuntansi. Penentuan jumlah sampel menggunakan rumus Slovin sehingga diperoleh 241 mahasiswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan Proptionate Cluster Sampling yaitu pengambilan sampel secara acak dengan melihat proporsi pada tiap angkatan. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner dan teknik dokumentansi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan regresi berganda dengan bantuan program aplikasi IMB SPSS 22. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara simultan dukungan orang tua, kesejahteraan guru, dan praktik pengalaman lapangan berpengaruh terhadap minat profesi guru (55,5%). Secara parsial, dukungan orang tua berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap minat profesi guru (30,03%), kesejahteraan guru berpengaruh (6,66%), dan praktik pengalaman lapangan (8,82%). Simpulan penelitian terdapat pengaruh secara simultan dan parsial dukungan orang tua, kesejahteraan guru, dan praktik pengalaman lapangan terhadap minat profesi guru pada mahasiswa Pendidikan Ekonomi Universitas Negeri Semarang angkatan 2017 dan 2018. Saran yang diberikan dalam penelitian ini hendaknya mahasiswa meningkatkan minatnya untuk berprofesi guru dengan memperbanyak wawasan dan mengikuti perkembangan informasi profesi keguruan serta memaksimalkan pelatihan dalam program praktik pengalaman lapangan. Mahasiswa juga diharapkan dapat menjalin hubungan yang harmonis dengan keluarga, kampus, dan sekolah mitra kampus.   The purpose of this research is to determine the parental support, teacher welfare, and practice field experience (PPL) of the interest teacher profession in students of Economic Education Universitas Negeri Semarang. The population in this study were students of 2017 and 2018 Economic Education, totaling 605 students from three majors, Office Administration Education, Cooperative Education, and Accounting Education. Determination of the number of samples using the Slovin formula to obtain 241 students. The sampling technique used Proptionate Cluster Sampling, namely random sampling by looking at the proportion in each batch. Data collection methods used questionnaires and documentation techniques. Data analysis technique used descriptive analysis and multiple regression with IMB SPSS 22 application program. The result showed that simultaneously parentel support, teacher welfare, and practice field experience influenced the interest teacher profession (55,5%). Partially, parental support has a positive and significant effect on interest teacher profession (30,03%), teacher welfare has a effect (6,66%), and practice field experience has a effect (8,82%). The study concludes that there is a simultaneous and partial influence of the parental support, teacher welfare, and practice field experience of the interest teacher profession in students of Economic Education Universitas Negeri Semarang batch of 2017 and 2018. The advice given in this study is that students increase their interest in trh teacher profession by increasing insight and follow the development of information on the teacher profession and maximize training in practice field experience programs. Students are also expected to be able to establish harmonious relationships with campus families and campus partner schools.

One of the problems in the Jero Gunung village community, Sakra Barat District, East Lombok Regency is the lack of public awareness to live healthily, especially related to littering. This waste problem has become the biggest problem in Jero Gunung village which is difficult to eliminate. Most of this waste comes from households. In addition to the waste problem, there is also a lot of livestock waste that can be used as compost. And seen from the agricultural side, Jero Gunung village also has quite large plantation potential such as coffee, chili, tomatoes and so on. In rice fields, rice is usually planted in the rainy season while in the dry season the land is planted with tobacco. Based on the problems in the village, KKN PMD UNRAM students raised the theme "Healthy Village" with the topic "Building a Healthy Village with Sustainable Waste Management". The main program is making compost and making soap from organic materials. The purpose of this program is to build public awareness of the importance of health, realize quality, character, creativity and innovation and help the community's economy. Abstract

Studies about rhetorical moves in the introduction section have been widely conducted. However, the studies focusing on the research problem statement is still limited. This current study investigated the rhetorical structures, strategies, and linguistic features of the problem statement written by undergraduate students, which aimed to contribute to the teaching model in teaching academic writing. This research was a qualitative case study belonging to genre analysis, using Swales CARS model. Thirty undergraduate students problem statement texts were explored, and interviewers were further conducted to collect the data. The results indicated that nine types of rhetorical structures were employed, most of which were characterized as incomplete. The rhetorical strategies employed by the students were making a centrality claim, making topic generalizations, reviewing previous research, indicating a gap, establishing need and problem, continuing a tradition, outlining purposes, and announcing the state of the present research. Specific linguistic features were used in each move and step although the students admitted that they had lack of knowledge with linguistic features. Based on the research finding, a Critical Genre-Based model for teaching problem statements in writing is proposed because this model has facilitative effect on consciousness-raising of the genres rhetorical structure.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi informasi telah mengubah paradigma bisnis secara signifikan, memungkinkan perubahan dalam cara perusahaan beroperasi, berkomunikasi, dan menciptakan model bisnis baru. Internet menjadi elemen penting dalam transformasi ini, memberikan peluang untuk meningkatkan efisiensi proses bisnis melalui pemasaran digital. Salah satu implementasi teknologi yang strategis adalah E-commerce, yang mendukung aktivitas transaksi bisnis berbasis digital guna memperkuat hubungan antara penjual dan pembeli. Toko Izzuna Collection, yang menjual produk seperti trophy, vandel, medali, dan akrilik, masih menggunakan metode pemasaran konvensional dengan interaksi langsung di lokasi fisik. Hal ini memunculkan berbagai tantangan, seperti keterbatasan akses pelanggan terhadap informasi produk dan promosi, kurangnya fleksibilitas, serta meningkatnya biaya operasional. Untuk mengatasi kendala ini, penelitian menawarkan solusi berupa rancangan sistem informasi berbasis E-commerce. Sistem ini dirancang untuk menyediakan platform multifungsi yang mencakup promosi produk, transaksi online, pengelolaan data, serta blog, dan dapat diakses dari berbagai perangkat. Implementasi E-commerce memungkinkan pelanggan mengakses layanan kapan saja dan di mana saja, meningkatkan kenyamanan dan efisiensi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem ini tidak hanya memperluas jangkauan pemasaran dan meningkatkan penjualan, tetapi juga memperkuat daya saing Toko Izzuna Collection melalui pengalaman pelanggan yang lebih baik dan pengurangan biaya operasional

Abstract

This study aims to validate an instrument to assess interest in the airport profession among XII-grade high school students using the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) approach. This research is important to assist educational institutions and the aviation industry in identifying the interests and potential of students suitable for a career in airports, especially during the transition from education to the world of work. Through EFA, this study identified the factors underlying students' interest in the airport personnel profession by distributing questionnaires to 94 12th-grade high school students. Findings from factor analysis showed several key dimensions of interest, such as skills, training, career development, and interest in the airport work environment. The results of this study provide a new understanding of the factors of interest in a career in the aviation sector and produce a valid assessment instrument to assess the interest readiness of high school students interested in a career as airport personnel.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Arabic language learning using the Akhlak Lil Baniin book for class IX A students at the Darul Ihsan Modern Islamic Boarding School. The study was conducted with a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis, through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the use of this book was able to improve the Maharah Kalam (speaking ability) and self-confidence of students. Teaching is also supported by various learning methods and media so as not to be boring. The Akhlak Lil Baniin Book Volume 1 contains 33 titles in 56 pages that discuss noble morals, with easy-to-understand Arabic. Evaluation was carried out to improve the quality of learning. This study contributes to the development of Arabic language learning methods in Islamic boarding schools, especially in improving the Maharah Kalam (speaking ability) of students. By using the Akhlak Lil Baniin book as a teaching material, this study shows that material based on moral values can be an effective means of learning Arabic. In addition, this study also provides input for Arabic teachers to integrate various learning methods and media to increase student participation and confidence in speaking Arabic. It is hoped that these findings can be used as a reference in developing the curriculum and strategies for teaching Arabic in Islamic boarding schools or other Islamic educational institutionsز

Abstract

Vocabulary is a crucial aspect of language learning, impacting the four core skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. A strong vocabulary foundation enables students to understand spoken language, express their ideas effectively, comprehend texts, and produce well-structured written content. However, vocabulary acquisition remains a challenge for many students, particularly when conventional teaching methods fail to engage them, resulting in difficulties in memorization, lack of motivation, and monotonous learning experiences. To overcome these challenges, innovative strategies like gamification have been introduced to enhance engagement and learning outcomes. One effective approach is using Kahoot!, a game-based learning platform that integrates interactive quizzes and competition to make learning enjoyable. Research indicates that gamified learning environments boost motivation, participation, and vocabulary retention. This study explores the effectiveness of Kahoot! in improving vocabulary skills among sixth-grade students at SD Negeri Penggarutan 01 Brebes. A quantitative pre-experimental design was used, involving 18 students selected through purposive sampling. Vocabulary tests were conducted as both pre-test and post-test to measure the impact of Kahoot!, with data analysed using SPSS 22, including descriptive statistics and a paired sample t-test. Results showed a significant improvement in vocabulary scores, with the mean increasing from 72.50 in the pre-test to 79.17 in the post-test. The paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05), confirming Kahoot!'s effectiveness. The study concludes that Kahoot! is a valuable tool for vocabulary learning, fostering motivation, participation, and retention.
