Abstract

Every person with a disability has the same rights as everyone else. This right is guaranteed in every regulation including local regulations. Unfortunately, the formulation of regulations often encounters obstacles due to various interests of both policy makers or stakeholders in its preparation. The main focus in this research is on analyzing the role of stakeholders in the formulation of Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2021 using the Eden & Ackermann Power vs Interest Model analysis. This research uses data analysis techniques using the Miles & Huberman method, which consists of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The Descriptive Qualitative approach used in this research aims to describe the role of stakeholders systematically and accurately in accordance with the actual situation. The stakeholders involved consist of the Bojonegoro Regency DPRD, Bojonegoro Regency Social Service, Bojonegoro Regency Disability Association (PDKB) and IDFos Indonesia. To analyze the role of stakeholders consists of three steps, namely Stakeholder Identification, Stakeholder Classification and Inter-Stakeholder Relationships. The results of this study show that stakeholder involvement in the formulation of Regional Regulations on the Fulfillment of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is pseudo (not procedural). Stakeholder involvement in the formulation of the Regional Regulation only reached the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) stage, the rest were not involved. The lack of involvement is due to the lack of openness or transparency between stakeholders, making this Regional Regulation seem like a mere formality.

Abstract

Design thinking has emerged as a critical 21st-century competence, yet it remains under-emphasised in Islamic schools, particularly Madrasah Aliyah (Islamic senior high schools). This study investigates the design-thinking mindset of Madrasah Aliyah students studying digital-technology-based physics concepts. Employing a descriptive-correlational design, we used descriptive statistics and Pearson/Spearman correlation analyses to examine relationships among five dimensions of design thinking: (1) Growth Mindset and Endurance, (2) Empathy and Human-Centred Design, (3) Teamwork and Diverse Perspectives, (4) Creativity and Problem-Solving through Prototyping, and (5) Curiosity and Learning Motivation. Data were gathered from 136 students using a validated 25-item questionnaire. Overall mindset levels ranged from moderate to high; Curiosity and Empathy recorded the highest scores, whereas Endurance ranked lowest. Gender- and grade-level comparisons revealed that female students exhibited significantly higher Endurance. Although the cross-sectional design limited insights into developmental trends, a significant negative correlation emerged between Endurance and the other dimensions. These findings highlight the need to balance resilience with curiosity, creativity, and empathy within a design-thinking framework and offer guidance for integrating digital technologies and design-thinking principles into physics instruction while respecting the madrasah cultural context. Future research could explore the impact of interactive digital physics simulations on the development of the five design-thinking dimensions among Madrasah Aliyah students.

Abstract

The ability of argumentation and scientific reasoning is part of scientific literacy which is a requirement for learning science. Students get knowledge according to the understanding of scientists, which is important for students to have, especially in Newton's law material, but learning in the classroom currently has not developed argumentation and scientific reasoning skills properly. This study used a mixed method design with an embedded experimental design carried out offline. This research design was used in order to obtain an in-depth picture of students' argumentation and scientific reasoning abilities. The results showed that students' argumentation and scientific reasoning abilities increased significantly after being given the phenomenon-based Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI) learning model. This learning has a moderate effect on argumentation skills and a very large one on students' scientific reasoning. Even though students' argumentation abilities have increased significantly, on average students still have difficulty in associating a phenomenon with the appropriate Newton's Laws. Scientific reasoning students also experience positive changes. This is evidenced by the increase in post-test scores and effect sizes which are in the very large category

Abstract

Creative thinking skills are essential in physics learning because students are required not only to understand formulas, but also to generate ideas, solve contextual problems, and explain scientific phenomena creatively. However, most physics assessments still emphasize procedural calculations and have not comprehensively measured students’ creative thinking skills, particularly in dynamic fluid learning. Therefore, this study aims to examine the quality of essay test items developed to assess students’ creative thinking skills in the context of dynamic fluids. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed involving 120 students who had previously studied dynamic fluids. The developed instrument consisted of four contextual essay questions representing the indicators of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 30.0 through empirical validity testing, reliability analysis, item difficulty level, and discrimination index analysis. The results showed that all items had very high validity coefficients (r = 0.827–0.946; p < 0.001), indicating strong construct validity. The instrument also demonstrated very high reliability with a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.908. Furthermore, all items were categorized as having moderate difficulty levels (0.476–0.526) and good to very good discrimination indices (0.694–0.899). These findings indicate that the developed instrument is effective for measuring students’ creative thinking skills in dynamic fluid learning. The novelty of this study lies in the development of a contextual essay-based assessment instrument specifically designed for dynamic fluid topics, where each item explicitly represents one indicator of creative thinking. This study contributes to the development of more meaningful creative thinking assessments in physics education.

Abstract

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) and diabetes mellitus (DM) have become primary concerns worldwide, especially among the younger population. The Indonesian Boarding School model (IBS/Boarding School) is a large education system with a significant number of pupils (teenagers) and has the potential to become a center for metabolic disease, particularly among teenagers, due to their daily intake. This study aimed to provide a baseline screening for MetS and the risk of DM development in Boarding School teenagers. During this observational study, 90 healthy serological samples were obtained from senior and junior high school students. The circulating level of betatrophin was measured using a human betatrophin ELISA kit. Additionally, metabolic syndrome and DM screening data were analyzed using a rapid reverse-flow immunochromatography kit for 65 kDa glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD65). Among the 90 healthy students, a high prevalence of GAD65 was observed, indicating a potential risk factor for metabolic diseases. Furthermore, higher serum betatrophin levels were observed in the samples. The circulating level of betatrophin was found to have a significant correlation with age, gender, body mass index (BMI), systolic blood pressure (SBP), fasting blood glucose (FBG), sleeping duration, and duration of stay at Boarding School (p < 0.05). Betatrophin emerged as a potential predictor of BMI, SBP, and FBG in students (p < 0.05). Both betatrophin and GAD65 have shown promise as future biomarkers, opening up a new avenue for assessing metabolic syndrome and the risk of DM. This underscores the importance of future programs in Boarding Schools focusing on MetS and DM prevention management, making the audience feel the significance of their work in addressing these pressing health issues.

Abstract

Concerns about environmental damage caused by pollution and the use of non-renewable energy sources have driven many researchers to explore sustainable energy-harvesting materials. This study successfully developed an energy harvester based on Mn0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 ferrofluid. Notably, Cetyl Trimethyl Ammonium Bromide (CTAB) was used as the surfactant in the synthesis of the Mn0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 ferrofluid via the coprecipitation method. The CTAB mass was varied at 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, and 1 gram, labeled as MZC0, MZC0.25, MZC0.5, MZC0.75, and MZC1. XRD patterns showed that MZC0 have a cubic spinel structure, while CTAB addition altered the structure to monoclinic, following CTAB’s pattern. FTIR spectra at 418.1, 571.1, and 445.3 cm⁻¹ confirmed Mn–O, Fe–O, and Zn–O stretching, indicating successful spinel formation. Meanwhile, FTIR bands at 2800 and 2900 cm⁻¹ in MZC0.25–MZC1 samples were due to C–H stretching from CTAB. VSM analysis revealed a decreasing saturation magnetization (Ms) with increasing CTAB. SEM images confirmed surfactant coating on nanoparticles. Energy harvesting tests showed output voltages of -0.4 to 2.9 V and low induced currents (0.3–1.9 μA), suggesting the potential of Mn0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4/CTAB-based ferrofluid as an eco-friendly energy harvester.
