Abstract

Modern companies invest heavily in understanding future customer needs, but these efforts are sometimes unappreciated, leading to poor results. This research aims to understand future anticipation by linking it to companies' predictions of technological, cultural, and competitive changes and how consumers perceive these changes. Using qualitative methods, data was collected through semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions (FGD) with eight participants each. The findings show that customers highly value visionary company initiatives, forming positive memories that strengthen brand relationships. These memories, particularly in the precordium area of the brain, impact loyalty and shopping behavior, emphasizing the importance of introspection and personal experience. The research also introduces the concept of "massclusivity" and its relationship with elite consumers, like tablet owners. The novelty of this study lies in applying futurology in marketing and utilizing autobiographical memory.

Abstract

Flooding is a phenomenon that often occurs in urban areas, including in Villa Pamulang Housing, Bojongsari District, which is influenced by a combination of natural and non-natural factors. This study aims to identify the factors causing floods, analyze the relationship between spatial planning, drainage, and environmental conditions with flood events, describe the social, economic, and public health impacts, and provide recommendations for mitigation strategies. The study uses a qualitative approach with data collection through in-depth interviews with affected residents and direct observation in flood-prone locations, supplemented by visual documentation, and analyzed descriptively to reveal the patterns of causes and impacts of floods. The results indicate that flooding in this area is triggered by the interaction of high rainfall, low topography, soil characteristics, suboptimal drainage, and inadequate spatial planning, thereby increasing the vulnerability of the area to flooding and causing significant social, economic, and health impacts. These findings contribute scientifically to the understanding of the interrelationship between physical conditions of the area, infrastructure, and community behavior with flood risk, and enrich the literature on disaster mitigation and community resilience in urban areas. Practically, this study emphasizes the need to strengthen spatial planning, drainage management, and the development of mitigation programs based on community participation through a community-based disaster management approach, so that communities can not only respond reactively but also take preventive actions to enhance safety, well-being, and community resilience sustainably.

Abstract

Climate change is a serious issue that has been widely discussed recently, including the phenomenon of wet droughts. In the two areas studied, Mampang and Bojongsari in Depok, West Java, significant weather changes often occur. This study aims to determine the impact and ways to mitigate it in the communities of both areas. The method used was descriptive qualitative with data collection through interviews with a number of local residents of Mampang and Bojongsari. The results show that the impact that still frequently occurs in both areas is flooding. Sources in both areas also mentioned that recently, the weather has undergone noticeable changes. Some residents in both areas need appropriate and in-depth education to minimise casualties. In conclusion, this discussion on climate change narrowed down to the concerns of local residents in the Mampang and Bojongsari areas regarding the health impacts and major disasters such as floods and strong winds. The health impacts include the easy emergence of diseases such as dengue fever or flu, which can strike at any time. Therefore, education on disaster mitigation and disease prevention needs to be provided to residents so that they become more open to the current impacts of climate change.

Abstract

Purpose: Traditional history teaching methods in the social sciences often overlook constructivist and inquiry-based approaches, meaning that trainee history teachers are under-exposed to such approaches. This study aims to evaluate how trainee history teachers understand and apply inquiry-based methods when local history is integrated into teaching materials, as well as to assess the pedagogical effectiveness of local history in enhancing teacher education. Methods: This study employed an exploratory qualitative approach involving history teacher trainees enrolled in a teacher training programme at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Data were collected through focus group discussions, interviews, and classroom-based inquiry activities. Data were analysed using thematic analysis to identify patterns in participants’ understanding and perceptions of inquiry-based learning utilising local history. Findings: The findings indicate that integrating local history into the curriculum significantly enhances participants’ engagement and interest. Students demonstrated a deeper understanding of inquiry-based learning, particularly in formulating questions, analysing sources, and drawing evidence-based conclusions. Participants also reported increased confidence in applying inquiry-oriented teaching methods, although concerns regarding classroom implementation remain. Research implications: This study is limited to specific groups and contexts, which may affect generalisability. However, it highlights the pedagogical value of contextual and inquiry-based approaches in teacher education. Challenges such as time constraints and institutional readiness need to be considered for wider implementation. Originality: This research contributes by demonstrating the effectiveness of local history as a pedagogical medium to support inquiry-based learning. It offers a contextual approach to bridging theory and practice in teacher education and suggests directions for future longitudinal research on sustained pedagogical impacts.

Abstract

Social inequality remains a persistent issue shaping the future of younger generations, particularly Generation Z, whose decisions to either pursue higher education or enter the workforce reflect broader cultural, social, and economic dynamics. This study aims to analyze Generation Z’s perceptions of social inequality in relation to their career and educational choices, emphasizing the influence of cultural values and family norms. Using a qualitative approach with thematic analysis, data were collected through interviews with six Generation Z participants aged 17‒28 who had recently decided between working and continuing their education. The findings reveal that Generation Z perceives the difference between working and studying not as a hierarchical gap but as a variation in life choices shaped by access to opportunity, cultural expectations, and individual values. Cultural norms and family influence remain significant but are increasingly balanced with ideals of independence and practicality. Generation Z demonstrates a reflective and adaptive understanding of social mobility, valuing both academic and experiential capital as pathways to success. The study concludes that social inequality among Generation Z is viewed more as unequal access rather than differences in social status. These insights provide implications for education policymakers and institutions to design culturally responsive and flexible programs that integrate work and study opportunities, fostering equality in access and recognition of diverse life choices

Abstract

This research is focused on outlining experiences in rural human resource management through the introduction of a new professional farmer training process. The aim is to provide insights and references for developing countries in implementing farmer training and improving their human resource structure. The research methodology explores the literature combined with an inductive approach to describe and analyse experiences and lessons learned during training programmes to strengthen human resource capacity in the agricultural sector. The results of this study emphasise the importance of new professional farmer training in rural human resource management, with the Indonesian government prioritising the entire training process. The Indonesian government has taken strategic steps in farmer training, which include identifying appropriate training targets, selecting influential investment entities, developing practical training models, and designing supportive policies. These initiatives have significantly improved the quality and structure of rural human resources. The uniqueness of this research lies in its selection of topics that are less widely covered in the literature, especially regarding the training process and the new professional farmer model. This research is also important in enhancing the skills of rural individuals, increasing farmers' income, strengthening the role of agriculture, and supporting economic growth in rural areas. Furthermore, this research makes a significant contribution to the literature by enriching the theory of human capital investment in rural areas.
