Abstract

[RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SOIL SILICA AND PLANT TISSUE SILICA ACROSS DIFFERENT LAND USES IN MADIUN DISTRIC]. Agricultural land in Madiun District frequently experiences drought during the dry season, reducing plant tolerance to environmental stress. Although not an essential nutrient, silica can enhance plant resistance to drought stress and plays a role in nutrient binding. This study aimed to examine soil and plant tissue silica content across various land uses in Madiun District. The research was conducted on three land use units in  Gunungsari, Banjarsari, and Sirapan Villages. Soil and plant samples were collected at 0–30 cm and 30–60 cm depths. Soil analyses included physical properties (texture and moisture content) and chemical properties (pH,organic C, total N, cation exchange capacity, and silica content). Data were analyzed using correlation and linear regression tests. Results showed that the highest silica content in plant tissue was found in paddy fields (40%) and the lowest in sugarcane fields (29%). Soil silica content in sugarcane fields was highest in Banjarsari Village (57.31%) and lowest in Sirapan Village (56.75%), while in paddy fields it was highest in Gunungsari Village (66.69%) and lowest in Sirapan Village (65.57%). The presence of silica influenced soil cation exchange capacity and nitrogen content, and it contributed to increasing plant tolerance to drought by reducing water loss through transpiration. The study recommends land management practices to enhance silica availability, such as returning crop residues to the soil. Full text pdf

Abstract

The influence of monsoonal wind to coastal upwelling mechanism which is generated by Ekman transport was studied here by analyzing wind stress curl (WSC) distribution over Java-Bali Sea waters and its surrounding area. Surface wind data were used as input data to calculate curl of wind stress in barotropic model. Confirmation with Corioli effect in the Southern Hemisphere, it could be known that negative curl value has relation with vertical motion of sea water as resulted by Ekman transport. Result of analysis showed that negative curl near coast over Java Sea which is stretching to Lombok Sea occurred in December to April when westerly wind of the North West Monsoon actives. It can be guidance and related with season of coastal upwelling in the region. Reversal condition, the occurrance of coastal upwelling in the south coast of JAva island related with the negative value of WSC that occurs since easterlies wind take place in May to August as a part of South East Monsoon episode. Generally, upwelling occurrance in the field of study is a response to the Monsoon circulation. This study with related data such as sea surface temperature, chlorophyll concetration and mixed layer depth that derived from satellite imaging data National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (NOAA-AVHRR), Aqua/Modis and sea viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor(Sea WiFS) shows as magnificent confirmation pattern. So applying WSC to recoqnize upwelling zone is alternatively way as climatic approach to maps potential fertilizing of sea water in maritime-continent Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of technology-enhanced learning (TEL) in improving students’ statistical graph interpretation skills through a rigorous Item Response Theory (IRT) analysis. Employing a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design, the research involved 120 undergraduate students from four classes, equally divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental groups received TEL-based instruction featuring interactive graph visualizations and automated feedback, while the control groups followed conventional lectures and exercises over seven sessions. Data were collected using a 60-item multiple-choice test covering bar charts, histograms, boxplots, and scatterplots, which was content-validated by experts and trialed for clarity, yielding high reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.833). Construct validity was ensured through unidimensionality and invariance testing, confirmed by eigenvalue and DETECT analysis. Data analysis applied IRT to calibrate item parameters discrimination (a), difficulty (b), and guessing (c) and to estimate students’ latent abilities (θ). Model comparison identified the 3PL model as the best fit, capturing both difficulty variation and guessing behavior. Calibration results showed that most items exhibited satisfactory psychometric quality, supporting the robustness of the instrument. Findings revealed that TEL groups achieved a nearly one-logit gain in ability from pretest to posttest, significantly higher than the minimal improvement observed in the control groups, as confirmed by independent t-tests and normalized gain analysis. These results indicate that TEL substantially strengthens students’ ability to interpret statistical graphs while demonstrating the diagnostic value of IRT in evaluating both item quality and learning effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to synthesize hydroxyapatite using the sol–gel method with variations in calcination temperature. The hydroxyapatite precursor was derived from eggshell. The egg shell powder was milled using High Energy Milling (HEM) for 20 hours, producing particles measuring 54.84 nm based on Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) results. A 1.67 M calcium dioxide solution obtained from the coral powder was reacted with a 1 M phosphoric acid solution through the sol–gel process. The resulting gel was dehydrated at 110 °C and then calcined at temperatures ranging from 450 to 900 °C for 5 hours. The synthesized products were characterized using X-ray Diffraction (XRD). The results indicated that calcination at 550 °C for 5 hours produced the most stable hydroxyapatite phase, with a volume fraction of 90.8%, a crystallinity degree of 39.8%, and a crystal size of 32.09 nm.

Abstract

Toxoplasmosis remains a persistent public health concern among women of reproductive age due to the risk of congenital transmission and severe fetal outcomes. This narrative review aimed to synthesize recent evidence on infection determinants and evaluate evidence-based strategies to mitigate risks, addressing persistent gaps in awareness and intervention efficacy. A comprehensive literature search of PubMed and Google Scholar was conducted for studies published between 2016 and 2025. The findings reveal substantial geographic variation in seroprevalence, influenced by environmental conditions, cultural practices, and socioeconomic disparities. Higher infection rates were consistently reported among older, multiparous, rural, and less-educated women. Key risk factors included consumption of contaminated water, undercooked meat, and poor hygiene practices, while associations with cat ownership were inconsistent. Overall, knowledge and awareness of toxoplasmosis were low among women and healthcare providers. Although educational interventions and antenatal screening demonstrated potential benefits, their effectiveness remains insufficiently evaluated. Integrated, context-specific prevention strategies are urgently needed to reduce infection risk and prevent congenital toxoplasmosis.

Abstract

The Islamic banking industry in Indonesia has grown significantly over the past decade as public awareness of Sharia-compliant financial services continues to rise. However, participation among younger generations, particularly Generation Z, remains relatively low despite their characteristics as digital natives who are critical of information and prefer practical services aligned with Islamic values. This study examines the influence of Electronic Word of Mouth (E-WOM) on actual saving behavior at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), with saving interest and trust serving as mediating variables. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 104 Generation Z respondents in Malang City and analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0. The findings reveal that E-WOM significantly influences saving interest, trust, and actual saving behavior. Saving interest and trust also function as mediators that strengthen the relationship between E-WOM and saving behavior. These results indicate that digital exposure such as reviews, testimonials, and positive customer experiences can increase interest, build trust, and ultimately encourage concrete financial actions, including opening or maintaining savings accounts. The study concludes that E-WOM-based communication strategies are essential for Islamic banks to attract Generation Z and enhance engagement with Sharia-compliant saving products.
